Crappy country for cycle touring to be honest. Just a stopover from Costa Rica to South America, but I know a fair few cyclists who just flew to Colombia from San Jose (CR) instead rather than head to Panama City. There’s no other routes so you have to ride the highway for most of the way across the country and it gets especially busy around the capital.
Still not the sketchiest highway I rode on though, that award goes to around Guadalajara (MX) and the stupid 8 lane coastal freeway you get routed onto before Oceanside (US)
