well he is writing quite a script isn’t he as he did last season winning the Champions League winning the AL Liga and being one of Real Madrid’s best players would you make of his little press press bit there with Gabriel it was nice to see him do the press and um look he’s a special player that goal is not only saved him and his teammates from an incalculable amount of criticism that they’ve never seen before um as a group of players and also he saved their manager um and I’m glad for that because to be fair Gareth he’s been England’s best manager for 40 50 years he’s been England’s most successful manager and I wouldn’t have hated it all of us would have hated it in the game who know him to go for him to go out the way in which he has what I would say is they’re starting to sound like England players of the past referring to outside criticism referring to other things Lads get your innocence back get your love for tournament football back there’s no one wants you to lose here we’re all desperate for you to win honestly it’s like they’ve sort of started to listen to things that are happening externally and all that’s been criticized there’s no one been criticized personally no one’s questioned the character no one said they’re not working hard all we said is they’re not playing football very well there’s an imbalance in the team and that that needs sorting and it still needs sorting you know the football criticism is fair criticism it’s not as if it’s been over the top in that respect I think with with football players the right of reply is always on the pitch so so they are referencing that criticism a lot but ultimately today showed that you know Jude Bellingham in those moments he had that right of reply he’s obviously referencing the criticism he’s obviously not liking it it looks a bit arrogant and confident but there’s another player called Cristiano Ronaldo he’s a bit arrogant and confident he scored 895 goals in his career you need that arrogance and confidence to do an overhead kick with 30 seconds to go I don’t mind it because ultimately the moments this game is about moments Bellingham I think took it Kane took it when Tony came on he he he had an assist you know so this is what players have to do they have to do it on the pitch this is unbelievable Instinct and confidence and arrogance whatever you want to call it that is what you need to to to even try that with 30 seconds to go g you played with Gareth Southgate at middles spr and under Gareth Southgate at middle spr are you surprised by the way he’s managing and coaching just at the moment and I ask the question because he has got so much attacking talent in his Squad he’s got three players at home in in Sancho Gish and rashford who could easily be in this squad are you a bit surprised about the way that his team are playing or knowing him as you do you go no that’s the sort of Coach he was going to be well knowing him and seeing how he’s been with the national team since he took over he’s been very consistent in that way so always whatever Talent he’s have up front he’s been probably I’m not saying he’s been more concerned but he’s been more on the defensive side making sure he’s not conceding goals and building from there than giving probably the freedom to these players and and because we see him in the clubs and we were talking earlier this these players in the clubs well for the best player in in the Premier League you go Bingham best player in from real MADD not one of them again in Germany the same so why can you not get that part of talent doing it from England so obviously that’s something there that that is is not happening with with Southgate I don’t think it will change because he’s not done it before why why he will do it now so you’re saying actually it is it is to type that you understand from playing with him and playing under him I understand that he does it I I was a mat victory that should not justify how you get to the result like today there’s so much analysis to do as if I was the manager why the way you concede the goals the way you concede Slovakia to dominate the game when I think they should dominate have more control of the games that they’re actually doing of course they have the character they never give up they always Ste in the game you have to give all those credit to the players in the team but I think there it could give a bit more especially on the offensive side that they do they’re going to have to aren’t they because there’s no way they we just watched SP there’s no way playing like that they’re a Spain or Germany if they get that far no no obviously not but we’re not on that side of the draw that’s obviously way down the line we’ve got Switzerland obviously at the weekend which is going to be a very difficult game but I don’t think it’s been very rare that England teams have lacked character you know they’ve always worked hard you know we’ve got to sort of if you like the end of extra time in many many games many tournaments where we’ve got knocked out on penalties I don’t think the character has ever been in question never every player I played with for England or coach for England or have watched for England this last four or five years or when I watch when I was younger when Robson and Keegan all those players were playing they’ve always worked hard they’ve always loved playing for their country it’s the quality it’s the technical ability it’s the control of the football match it’s the intelligence that’s the thing that we’ve lacked over a 30 40y year period and that’s the challenge I think in this tournament we thought we had the most technical group of players we’ve ever had there’s no doubt also you have to be the best defensive team also to win a tournament that usually happen so getting the balance is getting the balance is getting the the Jude yeah we just need a few PS like they’ve had and basically you think of that defensive balance but then that technical we just need to develop a bit more fluidity in our game and we just look a little bit sort of stiff look a little bit scared in possession that that’s the thing that I think is disappointing as all yeah the the first half the players look terrified to make a mistake South Gates talks a lot about bravery and boldness I’ve not seen it you know whether it’s his Subs whether it’s the Tactical switches can he change the shape what does he do now um in terms of the next game he has to be braver he has to be more bold in his decision- making because today I think the players have got him out of a sticky spot he’s put Tony on too late I think Tony was on 15 minutes earlier I mean can you imagine I such an impact I can see why he was fuming by the way Tony coming on with two minutes to go I mean I was there you go makes an immediate impact doesn’t he yeah that was a brilliant so England’s two goals one is a throw in and one is a mishit shot and it’s headed back into back into the danger area back into the mixer as we say in England D yeah but he’s in the right place he accommodates it perfectly because he’s not an easy header to put it into into k then Ken that’s what he that’s best but again you stay in the game you you you Gareth and the team has a plan it brings obviously I wouldn’t be happy two minutes no extra time but well he gets on the pitch and he does what he has to do and they win the game so absolutely they do

    1. I think England are no different to all the other big teams in this tournament

They solid on defense but don’t risk enough when attacking and this conservatism can take the team to the final but may also be at their detriment

You have to be brave enough to risk losing to get the win, not when it’s 0-1, but at 0-0

    2. Vastly overated team.england are plain boring and the players are crap.talked up to much but never deliver.1 minute more they would be out and southgate looking for new job they got very lucky

    3. Bringing on Toney in the midst of injury time/effectively wasting valuable seconds was the absolute height of madness yesterday, in a game of already woeful proportions. And for Southgate to then say that he brought Toney on as he felt he could change something is NONSENSE. In hindsight, YES, but not at the time he was brought on with 1 minute left!!!!

    4. I cannot stand how Gary talks so much crap about Southgate. England has never had such easy runs like in the last 2 euros in the last 40 to 50 years. I have never seen such poor football from an England team than I have the last 8 years, He is just to ridiculous.

    5. This nob just questioned if Sancho and Rashford should’ve been brought in. 🤦🏼‍♂️ the media are such cancer. Just saying random nonsense.

    6. If that's the best manager in 40-50 years England has had, really says a lot about the standards the English FA has for managers. Mediocre at best

    7. Gareth Southgate, as the manager of the England national football team, has garnered both praise and criticism throughout his tenure. While he led England to the Euro 2020 final and achieved notable success in other tournaments, there are valid arguments suggesting why some believe he should be sacked.

Critics argue that Southgate's tactical decisions, particularly in crucial moments of matches, have been questionable. His conservative approach in certain games, opting for defensive strategies or late substitutions, has been criticized for stifling England's attacking potential and failing to capitalize on momentum. This was notably observed during the Euro 2020 final against Italy, where England lost in a penalty shootout after taking an early lead but failing to maintain it.

Furthermore, Southgate's team selections and squad management have faced scrutiny. Some pundits and fans argue that he has been overly cautious in integrating young talents and relying on experienced but possibly out-of-form players. This has raised concerns about his ability to optimize the squad's potential and adapt to changing game dynamics effectively.

Criticism also extends to Southgate's record in major tournaments. Despite reaching the final of Euro 2020, England's performances in key matches have been inconsistent under his leadership. The team's inability to secure victories against top-tier opponents in decisive moments has led to questions about Southgate's capacity to deliver success in high-pressure situations.

Off-field issues, such as his handling of player discipline and team morale, have also been cited as areas of concern. While Southgate has been praised for fostering a positive team environment and promoting unity, instances of internal discord or controversial incidents involving players have raised questions about his management style and ability to maintain discipline.

In conclusion, while Gareth Southgate has achieved significant milestones with the England national team, including reaching the Euro 2020 final and advancing through challenging qualification stages, there are legitimate criticisms regarding his tactical decisions, squad management, and ability to deliver consistent success in major tournaments. Whether he should be sacked ultimately hinges on whether the Football Association believes he can address these concerns and lead England to greater achievements in the future.

    8. All Southgate haters. Go and manage the team yourself. You are an arrogant bunch. Southgate got us to semi finals and one finials. We almost won 2020.Euro. such dribble you speak. We are in quatre finials. Need to improve much more. Southgate needs to improve. Yes his management needs to be questioned in this tournament. He has made errors. Level of extreme comments is unnecessary of Southgate like sack him. As a nation we have too much expectations. He is doing his best. We are coming across as an arrogant nation with many comments here. I hate arrogancy.

    9. English pundits are deluded man, how can you watch this tournament and still say Sareth Gouthgate (not saying his name) is the most successful England manager. Forget what's on paper, those stats have nothing to do with the manager, he's just lucky he has this team! A real manager would make this team unreal!

    10. Reading Youtube comments makes me realise how incomprehensible football actually is to not only the masses, but specifically the average English fan.

    11. No real
Professional would never sign up with Jamaica . Everything is set up for theft cheat and lies ,bullies and fake intelligence in this country and it is unfair to those who believe in Jamaica 🇯🇲

    12. We are the only country that could be so negative after qualifying, yes we didn’t play well, but no one has said to England team well done lads you held in there and it payed off

    13. Southgate acting like he pulled off a tactical masterclass 😂😂😂 twat just got lucky id rather go out than have that clueless prick fluke his way too anything

    14. I understand that English pundits, especially the former players, have to remain somewhat positive about their team, but, um, how do I say this? The house is burning down, why are you still talking about lunch?

Everyone's playing uncomfortably out of position. The games are uncreative. The players look left alone and only able to think one step at a time. It's way below the level that's needed to succeed in a tournament like this. Everyone's out for himself as if Southgate never gave them the scenarios or setpieces to play out. That England is still in the tournament is pure dumb luck.

    15. What an utterly disgusting win it was too, watching it back only makes me more angry. One shot on target in 95 minutes. England could not dream for an easier run in a tournament to win imagine being told you have to top a group of Denmark, Slovenia and to beat Slovakia, Switzerland and one of turkey or Holland to reach a final !!!! Mad.

    16. The praise that Southgate should receive is that he got England to be a team, not a clique of clubs. The Spanish were able to put aside their club allegiances. Somehow England never really could until Southgate. Beyond that, what we have seen from Southgate is mediocre. He's never quite got it right. He has played his favourites over those who merit inclusion, and rather than finding solutions to those favourites whose form let them down. He drudged on, and we still see an imbalance. We still see lacklustre safe football. We still see poor decision making in times that warrant a bold or a level headed response. He chose to not bring another recognised leftback. Selecting one coming back from injury, who only just started training with the team, and who hasn't played football since February. Foden is not a left winger. Saka is getting no support from Walker. Bellingham is not a 10, and Rice is not a 6, but do the job. He brought players like Wharton and Gordon, and is reluctant to use them. Mainoo should've started the tournament. TAA is not a midfielder, and Gallagher is not the player to partner Rice.

He has progressed with England because of the sheer talent at his disposal. Not down to his tactics or his decision making. The simple fact that no Premier League or a Championship teams chasing promotion would even look his way, is the indicator everyone needs to understand. He has failed forward, and will no doubt continue to do so.

    17. These pundits only know how to tell one story, so they will tell that one way or another. Alternative story…
Yes we were lucky, but as you know you create your own luck. England was the fittest at the end, they had more in reserve which was the difference to the opposition.

As a manager, he walks a tightrope between selecting the best players, and the right players for the opposition. He did enough to contain the opposition, hoping in sudden death the squad would be stronger. Its not pretty to watch but its is what we have. We have rarely done pretty football. As bad as they played, they are heaps better than the way they used to play.

    18. Just scanned the comments in general on here. You can see WHY we dont win tournaments reading all this negative crap. We are in the quarter final having won the group. Those are the facts. I just hope you all eat your words – come on England.

    19. My mother-in-law's boyfriend's neighbour's dog can do a better job managing the England team than Gareth Southgate.
