There are no pressure points and it feels comfortable when I wear it, I am mainly concerned about safety. Will the MIPS system still work properly if there is such little space at the back?

While I don’t know about mips specifically, in general a snug fitting helmet is the best helmet. I would check whether you can fit a winter hat under there- unless you have a different lid for the cold weather.
