The photo was taken in Hel, Poland. The bike is 2024 Orbea Terra with aluminum frame. It was my first 100 km (62 miles) ride. I did it in 3:30 and I’m pretty happy about that since it gives me an average speed of 28,5 km/h (17.7 mph).
The route was a nice mix of gravel and road, with some paving (which was the worst part). What’s interesting, it wasn’t my legs that were the biggest issue. Other than my mind telling me to stop, it was my back that felt almost broken when I finished the ride. I guess I have to adjust my position somehow.
    Few lessons learned:
    – 2 snickers wasn’t enough,
    – I’d pick something else than snickers next time (any recommendations?),
    – my position needs some adjustments, I guess,
    – I wouldn’t be able to do this if I didn’t hit the gym on a regular basis for a few years already,
    – I have to try electrolytes instead of pure water.

Great work fellow Pole 🇵🇱 💪 POLSKA GUROM

You asked for some snacks for the road. I always take some fruits and fruit mousse (Biedronka has some good stuff). And I find kabanosy very efficient energy snack.

Electrolytes are very good, especially on the long rides. I take one bottle of them and one bottle of pure water and it works just fine.

Hej. Are there a lot of cyclists on the route? Especially on the segment Władysławowo – Hel

Yeah, even on a xc hardtail these paved sections felt terrible because of spontaneous potholes, so it was more pleasant to ride through the forest up to Jastarnia

    4. I have the 2023 h40, what a great bike !

You basically needs electrolytes for minerals and high GI sugar like gummies and fruits , snickers are good too but a bit harder and longer to digest because of the fat.

Gels are disgusting but so effective if you need a good sugar/cafeine kick before a huge climb
