Last week my wife crashed out in front of me and I T-boned her, all at low speed (she’s ok). It’s a Madone SL7 gen 6 that I’ve only had for a few months. 🙁

My rim just needed to be trued up, I thought all was well.

Yesterday, I was cleaning my bike and noticed a defect in the left fork blade, I presume where my bike hit her pedal.

Based off of pics, is the fork trashed? Or is it just a paint chip?

I’m afraid to ride it as I’ve read horror stories about catastrophic fork failures.

Looks cracked. Take it to a dealer they will be able to tell you with certainty. I wouldn’t ride it until you get it checked out.

To know, you would probably have to send it to a facility with non destructive inspection. Most obvious is a reputable composite repair shop. Those are meaningful scars. Check carefully around your head tube for other problems since there’s front end trauma
Trek will often sell crash replacement parts to the owner at a deep discount

  3. If I learned anything from OceanGate it’s that it’s really difficult to detect flaws in carbon fibre. I’d play it safe and get a new fork.

It sucks when this happens to a new bike but at least you’re both ok.
