Had so much fun on my first Swift Campout ride with a great group of folks. Took the Walmart thrasher out would love some budget friendly upgrade tips. Please no snobby comments like “throw the bike away get a real bike” I’m not you.

What’s with the tail?
Like most cheap bikes, it will work until something decides [without good reason] that it’s time to explode, as long as you set your expectations and budget for parts replacement as needed then it should be alright. I did several loaded tours with a K2 mountain bike & a Surly Troll fork many years ago, rear wheel decided on the 2nd ride after a tour to pop 3 drive side spokes at one time, no chain damage or other damage, just broke at the bend, cheap machine built stock wheel.
I will say, toss that saddle cover, save up for a quality saddle like a Brooks or a Selle Amatomica (my preferred saddle for bikeshorts or plain cloths riding). While you are at it, buy quality bike shorts or better yet bibs and wear them direct to skin with no underwear, you can wear baggy shorts over them if you don’t like the look.
