Problems fixed and upgrades !!! The second generation is here and all my wishes have come true. I have finally got my hands on this Gravel bike and tested it one week before racing it at the Canadian UCI Gravel World Series and qualifier for the World Championship in the Belgium later this year.
I had already qualified in the first North American race in Arkansas by placing 6th in my age group. This allowed me to focus a little bit more on work and my training was suboptimal going into Canada.
Long story short, even so I was fitter and in better shape in AK, I finished 5th in Canada to my surprise. Looks like the lack of fitness was erased by the improvements of the second generation Renegade. The C1 was absolutely phenomenal on climbs and steady as she goes in the technical sections. I am still experimenting with the flip chip on the fork, after riding one week with the chip in the upper position I now switched it to the lower. There are small differences, but both feel balanced and neither seem to be over the top. Stay tuned for opinions on that.

    1. Is that the top of range $9k model? They aren’t cheap, that’s for sure…I really like the S2 Reynolds 631 Steel model…the copper tone looks great.

    2. I recently picked up a 2016 Jamis Renegade Elite and have been very happy with it, altho i've only been using it for roads and paved trails. Very inspiring to see what you're able to do with yours.

    3. Apparently, you didn't talk about the Renegade either 😁 Question, how often would you use the flip chip? Don't own a bike with one and like the 'idea' of one but kinda curious about whether people use them often or is it more of a selling point?

    4. Love all the different kinds of bikes out there nowadays. Keeps things interesting. But can’t for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to ride a bike on gravel surfaces or in the mountains or race competitively on bikes designed specifically for those activities. I can relate to cargo bikes and hybrids. They are utilitarian. Seems kinda masochistic to do the other kinds of rides at least to me. Well to each his own. Have fun doing your thing.

    5. That's some beautiful, and compelling terrain you are riding in! Where are these gravel tracks that roll through those boulders and cliffs?

    6. 9 grand.. you gotta be a little nuts to buy into a brand thinking you getting value. You could have gone custom and got a bike that’s truly special and helped small and medium enterprises who are fighting these brands. Missed opportunity but enjoy.

    7. Что в нем такого за 9000$? Я не могу понять такие цены. Ведь мотоцикл или авто намного сложнее.
