stage four of the to of marked the last call for good coffee and pizza as the T of France returned home leaving Italy but more importantly this was a very big day in the mountains the first contact with the Alp they’d be coming back later towards the end of the race but never had the tour gone so high so early over 2,600 m to the top the Gali three categorized climbs with all of the stars turning up ready for action and the new yellow Jersey Richard kapaz terms of distance not a big one just under 140 km but the difficulty lay in the altitude and the mountains over cestria not the most difficult climb but over 2,000 M and then for the first time climbed in 1911 but they were back again this year the tore an habitual visitor to the galib with a downhill finish in Val but naido kintana had won five years before kapaz in yellow E napol in White a day after the historic victory for bam gay who had become the first ever black African to win the stage of the he’d be active early on as well the flag was waved and with an intermediate Sprint 18 and 1 12 kilm into the stage it was the sprinters principally Mar pson who was trying to go for the points Abramson in the green jersey Bon taking 20 Gay not too far behind and then the fight for the real break of the day ensued 17 Riders would get up the road led by the world champion Macha fodo a couple of riders in there at 2 and a half minutes were a danger to the yellow Jersey and there were potential stage winners too in the fight for the king of the mountains prize Stevie Williams was having a good day the Welshman taking Five Points in sestri and then the tour would head up Mev leaving Italy going into France and as they headed through clavier out of Italy it was Williams again who would double up on his points tally that move him up to third in the king of the mountains classification but the big points were still on offer would the break be able to hold on though lightning speeds down into B 55k to go and plenty of climbing still to come as well less than 2 minutes of a gap and Neil’s pollet went to work starting to uncover UA te Emirates plan RIT and Co were put into the right position as Riders went by the wayside oad laso was the last man to try and survive from the Breakaway Mau Star had been leading the team classification lenko another man in the break but it wasn’t for him neither a day for Raul Garcia pierna of ARA we’re left with four survivors at the top but they weren’t going to survive for too much longer lasaro again would try and keep going with all the work being done behind the combativity award probably the biggest thing on offer under the Gali proper and pav COV took over Las Caro was caught and then the fun began one by one they rode and one by one Riders were dropped including the yellow Jersey still with 6 and a half KS to go to the top kapaz was moving out of the lead it was turn of Adam Yates after [Music] that Ving aore surveying the damage including his best mate Jorgenson he was dropped Wago was going backwards and many had gone when with just under a kilometer to go to the top T poacha took flight vag able to follow initially inol was trying but he was struggling nobody else was in the shot RIT wasn’t on the greatest of days Alida and a USU have been swapping terms before the top but at the top it was their teammate and leader Bacha the two-time tour winner the winner of the jle this year leaving the first ever compatriot of his to wear the yellow Jersey behind in rogich an 8-second difference at the top between poacha and Vore nigh on half a minute with the rest coming over aapo was on The Chase Vore losing time on the long descent to valir becoming almost 30 seconds reminder that the Dane had suffered a shocking crash in the bass country he would be caught RIT would save the day as far as he could aay Uso was following but going ahead up ahead T poacha was about to do another special thing a super stage brilliantly finished the Dream Team and dream work after super teamw a 12 Stage win for tday poacha in his career at the tour one of the most important he retook the yellow Jersey behind both seconds were there to be fought out and I Uso doing Pacha a favor by denying RIT anything it was a na who took second place auso third RIT just behind with a very short two second Gap to those other Riders it was over five minutes to kapaz Bacha with his arms in the air there’s a long way to go in this toour of hor but Bacha is in control for the moment at least and looking good as he tries to do the double just over half a minute here’s margin of Victory bonus seconds on top of the Gali and the Finish Line making it a really profitable day well reflected in the new general classification a big Alpine shakeup of the GC as pogacha celebrated the stage and this was the new general classification AOL in second and in the white jersey at 45 vagor at 50 seconds then auso fourth rogich fifth the yellow Jersey on the back of pachar and UAE Team ett’s Dream lineup making the dream of a double for the moment a real possibility next up should be a chance for the sprinters leaving the Ops behind and heading Northwest 177.pic climbs including one a little closer towards the end interesting to see if anybody can put the sprinters in trouble or some sprinters struggle after the match Mage should be too far from the Finish but you never know this is the tour to France after all you can watch it live and On Demand each day the destination is Euros Sport and Discovery Plus

    1. It's interesting, on the top part of the descent, where it was wet and where you would expect Jonas to have more nerves descending, he lost very little time–the gap opened up on the lower part of the descent and on the subsequent end of the stage. So I'm not sure the argument holds up that Jonas was particularly hesitant on the descent, rather Pogi is a stronger rider on lower inclines or flat. We saw that in the relatively hilly TT last year when Jonas absolutely smoked everyone. I'm rooting for Pogi, but I think anyone saying that he has it in the bag now is sorely mistaken. Visma is still strong, especially tactically and I think Jonas could gain a lot of time in ITT, especially on the final on stage 7 or Nice, final stage (although Pogi probably knows this course super well as he lives in Monaco).

    2. Question from a cycling newbie. Is it possible that Tadej would try to win Vuelta? As far as i know it never happened before to win three big tours, but considering his strength, would it be physically possible?

    3. Ayuso hiding most of the climb, only working for Pog after not being able to hide anymore, pathetic really. Great work by Almeida and Yates but idk how next mountains will go in uae

    4. pogacar knows exactly that this is the year to win the tour again, since vingegaard is not 100% fit.
if he doesn’t win this tour, his chances to win again are minimal….because a top prepared vingegaard beats him 9 out of 10 tdf‘s….
i‘m also sure that’s the reason why uae planned to ride the giro: better one big win and probably 2nd again then just 2nd.
but with the horrible crash….uae & pogacar suddenly got a chance to win both

    5. I’m surprised, but think Jonas has it. I’m happy because I wanted him to come back and take it but wasn’t sure. I’m pretty certain now he will take him down when the climbs stack up and get bigger/steeper.

    6. So, this is over now. Fortunately, the battles for #2 to #20 will be interesting. I wasn't too concerned about Jonas' conditioning at this point…I figured he'd collapse in Week 2 and Week 3, if he even lasted past Week 2. Riders who don't have 3 months of race-conditioning never do well, regardless of the therapeutic use exceptions.

    7. If, and it's a huge if, Pog can make it to end of the race, I think he will win. The truth is, it's a lot of luck and a long way to go. If Pog hadn't had the one bad day last year, it would've been very close, probably only bonus seconds in it.
It's a touch of wheels, a bit of gravel and you could be out the tour…..I wouldn't bet against Pog making it to the double, but nothing is guaranteed yet!
