wow wow wow 5 minutes into injury time and we thought that was it it’s all over but you know what it’s still coming [Music] on fzy you say it’s coming home if it’s coming home it’s going to be in the back of an ambulance plastered casted with an IV drip to tell me what you made of that last night M if it comes home it comes home mate um yeah it was it was painful last night it was painful last night um somehow from somewhere well we know somewhere it’s duud Bellingham a little bit of magic um but for genuinely 95 minutes it was it was a tough watch um for me it’s you can play people in what positions you want to play them in you can talk about tactics um formations but for me it has to be the mentality the mentality with the big problem last night um we didn’t look like we wanted to really impose oursel and really dominate the game and really do that little bit extra which is what scores your goals you know beat your man drag somebody out of position get across in first time quickly um we just looked like we wanted to do it really structured and take your time and nice and calm and composed and at this stage of the tournament Lads that’s that’s not going to win your games no it it were a really really painful watch and I have to say when when the guy put six minutes injury time up I just s thought that were just going to be an even slower death for us to to be perfectly H I was surprised at 6 minutes by the way yeah I was really surprised at 6 minutes I would say maybe the guys will find it but we’ve been to quite a few other games and we’ve watched a few on the TV two or three minutes has been the match so I was qu I was pleasantly surprised but I just thought it were going to be another six minutes of pain um I think it left more questions than answers for me but the reality of the situation is we’ve now got quarterfinal against Switzerland who looked a really really good team against Italy I might add um but we’ve got an opportunity and somewhere somehow these boys and Bellingham in particular on a couple of moments in the tournament he is dragging us over the line that’s what makes the difference though isn’t it you’ve got we’ve been totally bang average and we got away with murder last night but this is when the big players come out this is the big stage and the thing I thought is and I know what you tell me guys this is it instinct is that Natural Instinct that the balls come in and he’s bicycle kicked it but he’s got to have a set of bollocks to do that in the 95th minute with how we’ve played all tournament hasn’t he it’s In fairness to him it was the only option he had like the overhead kick is something that any kind of any half decent player in that position it’s the only thing that you can do um but it’s just the way that the goal came about like I said we spent 95 minutes and obvious OB the first half injury time as well um trying to play this structured pass side pass side side side football um got us absolutely nowhere CU nobody had the the the nouse about them to try and beat their man or get a real quick Cross in and the goal comes from a throw in from Kyle Walker which by the way looks an absolute weapon um gay gets a flick on and the Finish is the Finish because of where it was we that you know the slovakians had put so many men at that front post to to try and cover that throw um and gay was a guy that got there first it was it was completely against what England stand for it was sort of like all hands to deck let’s just hope for the best but I think you’ve got to have that in your Armory mix mixing it up it’s exactly mixing it up you can’t just play a set way of playing like what England did last night and expect the opposition to go oh well you know they’re going to throw something in the mixer soon that’s going to blow this no they know exactly what was coming the slovakians knew exactly what was coming they watched the Slovenia game it was almost a mirror image of the Slovenian game wasn’t it Slovakia went 442 we’re just going to sit here wheelchair we’ll play narrow we’ll keep it nice and tight and if you have got the balls to try and beat us and get some balls in the box then we might have a problem but we don’t think you have the first 10 or 15 minutes wat it it was it was a really open game wasn’t it it looked like a decent game as well and I thought bling that this is a bit different to the first few games but they gave it a good go didn’t they no I I thought that were going to give us the better opportunity because I thought it they obviously would have had respect for England for sure but we’ve mentioned on previous programs how much the opposition always raised the bar for the game against England but they certainly played against England with no fear I think their coach got his tactics right that they were matched up in decent areas against us and I thought for 10 minutes I actually thought they had the better of the game and I thought they had two or three moments before they actually scored where we looked on the back foot a little bit but because the game were open I thought standout players can come to the party now but if I take it a step back to the point you’ve just made about the the long throwing look whether the noow walkers got that really long throw because Man City obviously don’t use it that much either but like I remember being in the tournament in France in 2016 and it was just a surreal moment for me watching it because Luke said stood next to me this is it last last we’re into the Last Action this is it and Kyle Walker’s just about to launch one in and you’re thinking here we go and yet um eight years ago I was sat there Iceland we knew we had a long throw actually got The Equalizer in that tournament and he went went on to knock us out with a set play and getting a long throw and yet England somehow scramble it home and but Bellingham his timing of the run and the improvisation and the audacity to do that is incredible but I’m like you Slovakia was set up knew exactly what were coming and the first time there a little bit of a curveball in with went and I thought that I think I said to somebody while we were watching the game about the set plays they had six zones defending Corners six zones and two markers so and we just kept doing the same things and making it so predictable let an in swinging balls tough but you made the point off uh the Brer in the end actually were really solid in terms to punch but the whole game changed on the throw and actually we get the winner through a second phase of a wide free Kick the BR actually gets a good punch uh I think it’s Gallagher if I’m true like punches his volley into the floor Tony has a center forward just anticipated where that shank might go Eder Kane as a poacher coming in at the backside so really we’ve scored from two set plays to get through in a game that everything else was so so predictable because I’m now left as I said at the start of the piece more questions than answers because there’s a lot of guys who have come on and done enough to war playing but like who starts this is where this is where the next game is oh I can’t wait to see this team selection for the next game Lads I really really can’t because you some of the lads that came on this is what you’re talking about with the unpredictability of it all right some of the players that come on you don’t really know what you’re fully going to get from them but that’s the beauty of it and that is the necessity of it as well is that slovakians were watching these players come on thinking Co you’ve got a lot of energy and you’re really quick and I’m not fully sure what you’re going to to do here e Tony how good was Tony when he came on last night it was a completely different style of football wasn’t it for us getting the ball up there Tony holding his man off bouncing it down off him he would keep hold of it bring us others into play gets us up the pitch it’s exactly what we’ve been crying out for in so many of these games we’ve had four games by the way in this tournament and that’s the first time I saw a little bit of like yeah I like this this is a bit of rough and tumble football this is a bit of unpredictable where I’m not sure what’s quite going to happen but I’m here for it because the other stuff the structured stuff the pass pass pass side side side Bing me to tears but let’s just talk about Tony coming on so he came on in what the 89 90 again um but quickly can we just say right can we just say about Tony yeah if england would not have scored that goal right in that last minute right Ivan Tony would have played about 45 seconds of Euro 2024 football right he would have got absolutely rinsed for it honestly the memes flying about with Tony playing 45 seconds would have been incredible um so I think he is absolutely buzzing that we got that goal by the way absolutely buzzing South Gates postmatch intervie interview yesterday he said Ivan Tony was disgusted with him um yeah now as it transpired the way that g spoke almost was almost kind of taking credit for it but have you got to give him credit for it look I I’m like Ben but I think hurric kanane and he scored ultimately the winning goal but at the minute he is’s obviously trying to drop deep to link up the play and I thought you saw the real difference in the two players when Tony went up there we look like we’d finally got a real focal point because Tony is not going to come deep we’ve got a number 10 playing in there who’s world class who we’ve alluded to on numerous times in terms of Bellingham so he stays up there he occupies their two Center halfes and now it’s game on you matched up everywhere else can can we go and do something and we linked off him he got foul after foul and I think he just took took the sting out of the game for him look he’s obviously miffed that he’s not had any time but all he can do is roll his sleeves up and perform ultimately he didn’t know he were going to get another half hour but perform like he did for half an hour and he actually brought England and played a big part and his presence would have opened the door for Bellingham for the equalizer for sure because we’ve got a a bigger threat in there and then obviously he he laid the winning goal on a plate for him but I I really pleased for him first action in tournament and it worked whether whether he’s disgusted or G of Southgate dreamt that these scenarios would pan out for Tony who knows but but for me like he’s got to be careful of the wording there for sure right guys one thing I want to speak about is the left side left back Kieran trippier there was a couple of times early on where it looked like he was on Ben there was a little diag over thep top and you thought great another couple of times where you just he saw the line and you thought go go down the line and if L Luke Shaw was there you kind of get the feeling he’d just pin his ears back and and go down the line what what more can be said about this kind of trippy thing because it’s not his fault he’s doing he’s doing a reasonable job there but surely it’s round pegs in round holes yeah it is it’s a balance thing it’s a um I think that Kieran trippier is not a necessarily out andout attacking fullback anyway he’s not the guy that’s going to get all the way up and down and get balls into the box and um but watching the game last night again going back to what I said earlier about sometimes you just got to mix it up and sometimes you got to play what you see and standing in the stadium looking down at that pitch and it’s a much better aerial view from us isn’t it from that position when you’re down on Pitch level it’s hard to see where players are and distances and all but from where we were standing the amount of times that Kyle Walker had the ball at right back and you had Phil foden hug in the line or kieren trippier hug in the line and the left back sorry the right back for Slovenia was so far over I’m talking on the halfway line the the kickoff Circle that’s where he was there was so much space and we still didn’t put the ball over for him we could have put that ball into space and a second you put a ball into space like that slovenians just have to turn around literally a 180 and they’re all running back towards their goal at an angle it is Carnage I promise you it’s absolute Carnage but they just never saw it they never saw it but maybe that’s because they don’t even think that’s an option because you’re playing here in tripier at left back they’re thinking well there’s no point in really putting the ball over there because if he gets hold of it it’s not really a the sort of player that’s going to be able to get the ball in the box so that was the big thing for me was they just didn’t play what they saw last night it was like they’re so ingrained in play in this style of no we don’t just do long balls over the top and try and catch people out we have to pass it out from the back and we do it only very carefully and even Dean rice last night just it seemed like he didn’t want to take any risks at all well the tripier one we’ve SP about it probably on every show and the deeper England go into the tournament and it looks at the minute I have to say that Shaw cannot be fit we’ve been here two weeks as an England team now they’ve played four games in two weeks that game last night went to uh extra time and Shaw’s not had a millisecond I think if Gareth Southgate could rewind the clock to when he actually picked the final Squad I think he has to be honest with himself and and when he’s watching the game he must think he’s Mr a trick whether it picks Tyreek Mitchell or you could roll off three four five a dozen more it does not matter looking at what we see now and hindsight’s always a wonderful thing we should have picked a natural left back and you can open the door on Maguire didn’t come because he said he wouldn’t be fit he’s brought sh hoping hoping hoping but it puts a lot of pressure on trip here and the dynamic of the team when we don’t switch play to that side because we haven’t got that natural left footer there and I pray to God that Shaw does get fit but I really worry on that one and I think the the management have made a real boooo do you think do you think he needs to I think I think he needs to come out and basically tell us what’s going on with Luke Shaw I think a little bit of information to the media and just be honest with it it’s not not asking for the ins and outs of everything but did he pick up another little niggle on the way here or whilst he was out here whilst he was rehabbing cuz it’s very possible pet players do that all the time if you’ve got a hamstring C no matter what sort of injury it is you can have a little setback that knocks you back a week or two just be honest and tell us no he’s not quite right I didn’t put him on last night or I didn’t play him last night because he’s only done a few days of training and he’s he’s a little bit off it and I worried that he could really hurt something but that is the sort of information that I think it’s not giving everything away it’s basically just telling you how it goes because then it stops all the the worry about Kier and trippier at left back the the worry of it because there’s no other option it’s as simple as that no I think trippier um physically is is fatigued for sure and I think he’s carrying something well he went off last night with something anyway he went off game before um but I I’m like you I think he’s had a real up sh in this two weeks that the tournament started for England because realistically even if we roll tripier for 90 minutes in the in the four games when that game went to injury time that is the perfect scenario for Luke Shaw half an hour of football recover do your strategies this week you’re ready for next Saturday you’ve got 6 days at that point and that would seem to me to be the perfect and Optimum solution because we’re not quite sure of formation players but we know everybody in the country knows we want a left back playing it left yeah and let’s talk about extra time so when extra time came obviously Subs are being made we’re looking at the pitch and frankly trying to work out what’s going on so con’s coming in left back sacka has played three or four different positions at this point everyone’s just scratching their head and I think you know I’m looking at it and going we’ve got through here with look rather than judgment and a bit of Brilliance yeah the the again the worry for me last night was and again with those players on the pitch right I think if they if if them players are made to feel accountable for whatever is happening on that pitch I mean you give them full accountability and go no do you know what right when you’re on the pitch I can only get so much information over to you at some point you have to take accountability you have to pull people around you have to tell him to sit there to stay there not go in there relax go for it whatever but as soon as we went 21 up with 28 minutes to go we almost went and did right that’ll do let’s just sit and defend now that’s a bit is the worry for me it’s a mentality thing yet again and I think if you’re playing one of the big teams there if that’s a Germany or a Spain I think they go and win that game comfortably it could be a four or five one it really could because Slovakia didn’t want to attack for the whole game they didn’t want to attack until the last 10 minutes of extra time till the last 10 minutes but we had a period once we had scored our second goal where we could have gone right let’s put this to to bed now let’s really put this to bed now instead of just sitting and again it just comes down to mentality it just comes down to mentality of going right let’s just go and we’ve got that many attacking players on the pitch now let’s just go for it I think you’re right look it for me is mentality and we’ve seen it all season in the Premier League the the teams at the top are ruthless and you know in football like the goal England got you can get one out of the blue they had some chances as well later on any so why not go and kill the game but I thought when they came out for the second half of extra time we go to a back five that’s naturally going to invite pressure Walker Stones go sacka as a left footer playing right wing back kza comes on to left back who’s a right footer and you’re thinking that not not quite sure here but then you go back to your point of mentality but the Sans are going to throw everything at you and we end up in such a deep deep block at that point and that’s when you’ve got the our Flair players on the edge of our box but you know when they’re trying to deal with onews and actions around them nobody quite knew where the triggers were cuz we’ probably and I’m being quite critical here but I don’t think we would ever have played a b five in training to see a game art and I might be doing the coaching stuff and Gareth disservice there but if they done it it certainly wouldn’t have been cona left back and sacka rightwing back and then you’ve got the flare players in front of them in terms of gagers then come on Palmer come on and defending for them Lads is not a natural trait anyway they fit as much as dogs and they can run but when you’re in that deep block and it’s just about filling holes in your little slots and I thought we did invite pressure and in the end we got through it um but ultimately I know we’ve spoke about the trend situation about playing him as a sitter next to rice in Midfield which is a whole new conversation but at that moment surely do you not take sacker off and put Trent Alexander Arnold at right wing back where is I know it’s Wing back’s different to right back but in essence you’ve got a defender in that position to see that game through for you because I thought we were right in that corner and near the end they were whipping a couple of crosses into that far post and obviously Kyle Walker’s not the biggest but he’s a good fullback but he’s now playing your outside Center half and sacka is coming in at that point and you’re think thinking if they get a good ball onto that far post we could be in trouble so it looked as though we were really inviting pressure yes there were two or three moments when we were going to have massive Counterattack opportunities playing into Tony and linking with the speed and pace and the attributes everybody had got going forward but we got through it somehow could we play a 352 could we ever consider starting a game at 352 well we’ve got is it is it too late to do that do you need do you need weeks and weeks of practice well we got just consider before you answer this question W obviously gayi misses the next game right yeah so Gay’s out for the quarter final that’ll be cono coming in for that right yes I would assume but I have to say that he’s yes we’ve we’ve waxed lyrical about Bellingham this morning and obviously he won US the first game of the tournament and he got us out of jail last night but if we’re brutally honest this is where England have been in this tournament because I think m g he has been our Stand Out perform and it’s a lot of weight that we put on his shoulders but in the four games he been magnificent and to lose that spine there them two cuz stones and him were getting a good working relationship you would think coner would come in and be the natural replacement but the Swiss will see that as an area to exploit because we’ve lost that continuity there and um it will be a lot of pressure for whoever replaces him but I I think that’s a huge loss can quickly touch on gay there was something unnoticed about him last night which I absolutely loved right this sort of stuff doesn’t get noticed or spoke about but it’s really important so the second half of um extra extra time kicked off um and we basically passed it straight back to Jordan pitford and they were still having like a little bit of a mother’s meeting on the edge of the center circle some the England players were and one of the Slovakian players just went straight through the middle of the pitch to shut Jordan pitford down Mark Gaye is the only one that noticed it yeah I promise you watch it about the only one who noticed it and literally cut that run off diagonally and just got in his way just stopped him shutting Jordan pitford down like I say it don’t sound like it’s much but what it does do is it gives Jordan P Pickford an extra two or three seconds to get his foot on the ball get his head up have a look and try and pick somebody out instead if he didn’t do it he’s got a player hurtling down him and he’s just got to kick it in a rush as quickly as he could Matt Gabe was the only player who saw that those little things honestly you can’t teach some players that sort of thing you’ve got to have that inbuilt and he noticed it so quickly an extra 10 mil on the TR honestly brilliant I think he’s been so so good everything about him so nice and calm and composed let’s let’s continue to talk about the positives you know what as an England fan I feel really bad that like when when turkey qualified from the group stages we were in Cologne were we and you know there were cars beeping the it was like they’ve won the final we’ve qualified yesterday we come out the stadium and it felt a little bit flat again and yet we’re in the quarterfinals so I think we need to try and try and just talk about the positives I mean when col Connor Gallagher came on I’m not saying it was the greatest quality but he he was busy he cut down he was industrious he worked really hard and then Palmer Palmer’s the big one for me so may will come on to a minute but but at what point has Palmer got to be given a start because what we were screaming out for was somebody to look at their opposing number and give him a go run him and he did that a couple of times he has to start the next game no it’s as simple as that he has to start the next game if you if you go on your thing can we play I wouldn’t say 352 I will probably play 343 yeah so you get Kane as it would be because then it can be a straight SW swap for Tony or what it won’t be a 352 cuz he’ll never play two up top he’ll always be the one man up top by himself exactly so I think then you’ll go into the debate in a minute if we play three because we’re worried about who might come in Walker can play on the outside on the right for sure then you’ve got your two Wing backs who will step into Midfield Tren on the right and you’d have L um B scker on the left cuz you got your two sitters you decide who plays with rice in there but then you’ve got your Center forward but then these two positions like they’d have to play for me a little bit narrower as 10 so bellingham’s one and then here realistically it’s folding or armmer if you played 343 um is he going to do that I I don’t know but we’ve spoke about trying to get your attacking players on the field and the best players Trent can go up and down all day but you go back to the balance on the left side cuz maybe that would be the formation especially if sha will fit um I don’t think it’ll happen I really don’t think we’ll go back to the 433 um but pmer has to start now it’s as simple as that everybody could see when he came on last night um and it’s hard as well you know when you haven’t played much football and you haven’t been starting and and I’m very sure that he’s very aware that everybody wants him to start I’m sure of it yeah he will know that the nation proud reaction exactly he he knows the nation wants him to start so he he will almost feel that pressure as well of oh I’ve got to produce here I’ve got to produce here I’ve got to be sharp I’ve got to take players on I’ve got to play some and and that’s exactly what he did he came on the second he got the ball you could tell what his intention was couldn’t you he was taking players on he was getting balls into the B he was cutting inside getting balls into the B he was playing balls across the 18 yard line it was completely different to what we had had for the first 0 7 minutes what the mentality of a player be sat on the bench watching what we’re watching and surely he’d go on go I’m going to make this positive positive impact here because he was direct he was on the front foot and and something that that not many of the players were no there was not many at all that wanted to break lines last night kobby minu did it a couple times where he was happy to take the ball under pressure and do a real nice turn and drive through the lines um I didn’t see many balls getting played through the lines either Dean rice I don’t think had the best of games where he would drive through or he would play balls through lines there were some some positions last night where I saw there were gaps where balls could have gone in but it was a very sort of you know it was a tight one it was a tight there’s a chance you might lose a bit of possession but you’ve got to try them balls you have to try them balls you do Ben but this the classic is a question for you then W so the the the less experienced players the kind of young guys the coers the May news that that haven’t had heaps of England caps is this classic feeling the expectation of playing for England and are these younger guys just a little bit more unfazed I think mate when you’re young you have no fear we’ve spoke about what our kids would do and wouldn’t do at certain stages because they don’t see the danger and they don’t know all the baggage and pressure that comes with playing for England especially in a tournament cuz they’ve not been here uh we’ve been at the the three games so far and Palama came on in two of them and he’s the only one who’s come on who has got me out mature and when the ball’s gone to him you can see fear in the opposition you can see fear in the opposition fans because he’s electric and something’s going to happen because he creates that he plays quick and he wants the ball the one thing I would say is if we’re going to start Palmer instead of folden the England fans we’re boogered we got to think of a new song all we’ve been chanting is Phil fen’s on fire so what’s the next song that’ll be they’ve got to be a cold pal there has to be a cold par we’ve got to make sure we get one because we need him in the team I think it’ be Big C I think playing against Switzerland will we will have to play a better game against Switzerland and I think it will make us play a better game against Switzerland because we watched them the other night didn’t we against Italy and they were decent they were really really decent High tempo High work rate just focus on going forward they would get back in numbers wouldn’t they as soon as the ball broke down for them they had Men Behind the ball like you would not believe they were working so hard but when they did get the ball full belief everybody on the same page let’s go forward let’s go and get another goal but we were laughing actually watching the game because we were watching them play proper football running football running football and we were actually saying watching them play against Italy or like watching England i’ we’ve been in a couple of games cuz the Italians were walking and we were laughing it’s amazing what happens if you can run and the Italians didn’t want to or couldn’t run and match what Switzerland that’s that’s I think that will make us raise our game because there’s no way the England players would be allowed to get away with doing a walking game like what the Italians did it just wouldn’t happen they would all have to just go right we can’t just do this passy passy stuff because it’s not going to work they’re all on top of us we’re going to have to mix it up balls over the top balls in behind get the ball out to Cole Palmer on the right hand side get that ball in first time as well one of my biggest pet peeves last night was not putting the ball in first time so you you’d GA a player out in the wing or and they would almost sort of beat them man or they’d be put into a position where they could get a cross in first time get that cross in first time that ball has to go in first time cuz the second you put your foot on it or the second you TR and turn out again all them Defenders get back in they all get their distances perfect they get set they’re all nice and comfy and they’re like right going then I’m I’m 4 in taller than you put the ball in the Box let’s see what happens with it I think for G and the coaching stuff the team would be relatively easy for Switzerland because you show some clips against Italy and arguably we we would all agree whatever 11 he selects that really man for man we would at least the same or in at least seven or eight positions better for sure that’s 100% but when he shows the clip of Switzerland against Italy if we don’t match this it does not matter that we’re better in let’s say all 11 position I don’t care what players you got on the pitch I don’t care what formation you pay if you don’t match that work rate it’s done lad if they outrun you we we are going home on Saturday we’ll see won’t we do you know what time it is lad I reckon it’s time for the world famous European edition of the football filling quiz come on let’s [Music] go right guys € 10 questions are we ready to go come on Jamie come on man question one in what year did the Netherlands and Belgium both host the Euros 2,000 correct Doesn’t matter who plays, when your manager want the ball to move sideways and backwards.. England is probably out by the end of next round.
Joe Gomez LB and Anthony Gordon LW but an inept failed Championship virtue signalling manager hasn't a clue what he's doing. He has virtue signalled his way through every tournament and he's trying to cry his way through this one. Boohoo everyone's saying nasty things (truth)
I know Foden has been great this season, but this System isn't doing him any favours, he loves playing on the right, being able to cut in and pass inside on his left foot, hence why he constantly drifts into the center leaving trippier needing to get further forward to provide width on the left, personally i would start Gordon on the left, he has legs and can run all game which is what we need, perhaps have Foden on the bench as a sub for Bellingham if we need to take him off, that way Foden can play as a number 10
holy smokes, yann sommer for ac milan😭😂he plays for inter!!!
They don’t want to take risks because they’re playing crap and they know they’ll get the blame if they take a risk and concede a goal.
Once again the English “fans” and media not backing their team, constantly criticising, putting the pressure on them equals them not performing.
I was stunned when I saw Shaw in the initial 30 man-squad, he hadn't played since February so obvioulsy was never going to be match fit, that usually takes at least 3/4 games! Chilwell must have been injured, yes, he's been out of form, but that's because he's been injured for most of the season so hasn't had time to get back into, which is another reason as to why i was so baffled about Shaw being picked.
I said from day 1 Toney should start, if you want to play as a team and have a striker back into defenders and open spaces for others. If he plays for a top team he will perform
A can’t believe Joe Gomez is there and not even being considered for left back he covered left back for 4 months at club level why can he not be trusted. He’s currently just there being wasted
When winning by a goal, the team just defends. Nothing learnt after blowing it against Italy.
We're gonna get schooled by the Swiss,we've never had such an underqualified manager.
Bench Kane, stick Toney or Palmer up top instead.
More chance of Shamima Begum coming home. We have no chance with Pratgate.
That was torture
When does the football start
Drop Kane and foden
Ben Foster is hilariously bad at analysing football.
Yann Sommer does play for Inter Milan 32:16
England were great before foden got into the team, not that fodens bad but if you arent gonna play him in the 10 putting him lw just fucks everything up. Much better with sterling rashford grealish
I'm not here for the quiz I'm here for the controversials
1. Cole palmer has done nothing for England.
2. That's bukayos spot and nobody is fucking taking it.
3. Cole palmer must start eh? Yeah big load of good that did us against Iceland.
Was I the only one who thought Palmer was a bit ordinary? Looked like he done his best work drifting in to CAM, can’t see him being a better fit than Saka on RW.
23:00 – Palmer can also score GOALS
Highest-scoring Englishman in the PL
Would love to know Watson's & Ben's views on Pickford – seemingly on multiple occasions refusing a short pass to keep the ball and hoofing it upfront to Kane who loses the header 9/10 and we lose the ball and this creates pressure. its winds me up beyond belief.
England are woeful Ben, woeful, starts with Southgate, hapless in either team selection or game management
Palmer was awful, he didn’t try to go forward as Slovakia didn’t allow him to. When he did he made many unsuccessful passes. The difference to when Saka started to Palmer is the urgency. When we pass slow the wingers are ineffective and it has showed when Saka has played. We played with urgency at the start of the Serbia and Denmark game and he was very good. It then slowed down and he became ineffective.
Did Ben just say trippier doesn't whip balls into the box?
Southgate likes an unbalanced team, just look at his substitutions. Any changes made are done to keep the team unbalanced so they all play like strangers. Obvs
