2024 will be remembered as a particular year truly rich in sport in my region of Emilia-Romagna. The most famous cycling race in the world, the Tour de France, has decided to hold the first stage in Italy to pay homage to the great cyclists of my country. After starting in Florence to remember the two athletes Gino Bartali and Gastone Nencini, both winners of the Tour, the second stage started from Cesenatico, the hometown of Marco Pantani, remembered by all for the historic Giro-Tour double in 1998. The arrival was in Bologna, a city I know well, and it is here that I decided to take the stretch of road that leads from the Sanctuary of San Luca to the city centre. This route has been tackled by cyclists a couple of times consecutively as a small circuit, with both challenging climbs and descents. It was a spectacle of people from all over Europe on the roadside; personally, this reason alone was enough to be there. And then the thrill of seeing the protagonists of the Tour de France pass by a few meters away, twice! Therefore, the second stage, Cesenatico-Bologna, was won by Kevin Vauquelin, French, from Arkéa-B&B Hotels, second place Jonas Abrahamsen, Norwegian, from Uno-X Mobility, with a delay of 36 seconds on Vauquelin. Third was Quentin Pacher, French from Groupama-FDJ, with a gap of another 49 seconds. Enjoy! 😉

      👍👍🖐️

    2. Are you kidding me? You even video bike races. Decided to take a trip to France. I used to watch the Tour and other events all the time. When I was younger, I had an Iverson racing bike.

Indiana is famous for bike races at IU called the Little 500. Pretty much every university had a bike race the week of the Indy 500. Breaking Away, the movie was filmed in Bloomington/ Indiana University. The whole movie was about that race. Filmed in many places I've been.

I used to clean the windows for a world-renowned bike shop in Encinitas. I've seen bikes worth $40,000 in the store. Several world champions buy shoes and bikes there. Sometimes, I had to move those bikes out of the display window so I could clean those huge windows. Some of the bikes must have weighed a few pounds.
      Amazing technology.

I hope you had a great time there.
