be on the start of the tour to France is a massive objective of yours for this year what’s the first weekend going to be like in front of all these Italian fans no it will of course be very very beautiful to be racing here in Italy I in general I really like Italy it’s a very beautiful country the food is nice everything is nice about it and yeah there were a lot of Spectators today and I hope I hope for uh the next 3 days that there will be a lot of Spectators as well I asked day earlier on what it what it meant to him to have you on the start line and he said that it was fantastic and he wanted to race you uh for the three weeks are you looking forward to that yeah of course I’m uh first of all I’m just very very happy to to be here on the St line uh it’s been a long fight of course to to get to this point so uh so to be here is is is a victory for me already we look forward to seeing you over the next three weeks if you look back what would have achievement be for you at the end of three weeks uh actually everything I I’m just happy to be here that’s already a victory for me and uh everything from from this moment is a is a bonus for me last year the entire cycling World sat there watched you sat in the back of a van and we all we grieved with you I think what does it mean to be back here at the start of the Tour of France with the dream alive that’s amazing and with the team I have with the group of boys I have and and with the support I have is from everybody outside the team is tremendous and what place to do it uh more than here in Florence you know I lived so close to here for over a decade I know all the training on roads I train up for the majority of my career and it was a it was beautiful you know I’ve done many Galas but for the two to France to start here it’s something special like every tour is special I just love it I get goosebumps the new guys in the team is a first tour to France saying what it feels like how no other race will ever feel the same after you’ve done this and uh that’s beautiful it’s really beautiful when do you think the first opportunity for the sprinters is this year a three is a first stop achieving in sprins into Torino um I never really get going until a few Sprints in you know so normally by the third I can start a Sprint because we already had a Sprint or so before but uh we got a couple of hard days it will be a Sprint until you know but uh I’ll try my best see what I can do but uh it’s not the one I’ve got the biggest optimism on and the preparation’s gone well for this uh final tour to France H very good thank you it’s been a lot of days away from home um I’ve been away the last week my wife she’s coming over tomorrow just to see me for an hour cuz we haven’t seen each other and then actually they’re going to do my wife and kids are going to do a full road trip and watch the tour they’ve always come to rest days and the odd stages um and obviously being the last one they’re going to do the full thing um on a mission to watch it you know so uh that’s super nice yeah quite uh quite good I had a long and relaxed preparation um yeah we changed it a bit to have some more time to prepare and I I feel I feel quite good but um yeah I hope to do a good tour the front with the team yeah you say we change a bit but we change a lot actually you really didn’t race much before your goals of the spring and be the to the front that’s the good formula you find you think you have fun I don’t know it worked for me last year um but yeah we always have to see if that’s uh yeah the good way to go for sure I still love racing the most more than training but yeah it’s just a bit how how you divide your season and um yeah that’s the way to go now and how do you like these SCS especially the first stages yeah I think it’s going to be really really hard for me but um yeah we will we will see how it goes I mean every race has to be ridden and um if there’s an opportunity and I have the legs I will go for it you think the first stage is too hard or we can dream of a yellow Jersey uh I think it’s maybe a bit too hard but like I said you never know how the race goes and um if I have the legs I try to go for it neelson welcome to the Tour of France always an exciting moment when the team gets presented what’s your emotions ahead of this year’s rice uh yeah just excitement Joy uh it was a really Rocky start to the year for me but I’m so happy to arrive at the tour to France healthy and and fit and uh ready to race now that objective must be this time surely a stage win for Neilon Palace in the USA yeah definitely uh I’ve been so close at every tour of race so I really hope fifth times’s a charm what about the team then what’s the objective this year we have a lot of stage Hunters uh we have an inform Alberto betso Italian Champion so he’s definitely got his eyes in the first few stages in Italy and uh the rest of us as well you know Ben Healey is a uh really courageous Rider um likes to go on long range attacks and Ry Costa is a super smart Rider former world champion so our team is really just full of uh of winners and I hope that we can come away with some nice wins in this tour Primos welcome to this year’s tour to France how has the preparation been over the last few weeks since the Doan a uh yeah I mean all fine H uh we are here and uh yeah enjoying the weather enjoying the people and uh incredible sceneries so yeah happy what’s your objective surely to add the tour to France to that tally of grand tour wins yeah I mean definitely you you you give your best and that yes in a result yes of course you want to win but uh I mean on the others you don’t have really influence so yes putting my best out putting the best of my teammates and the whole team that is that is the goal you look look around the team what a squad you’ve got you must be feeling even more confident with such a good team yes I mean uh we showed it we were strong in do uh but yeah need to show it again and again and uh yeah I believe in guys uh and uh hopefully we have a a fun tour Remco welcome to your first tour to France what does it mean to be here yeah it’s special I mean uh I started in Italy and uh a different finishing n is going to be a special tour and for sure yeah to be here for my first time is uh is pretty cool pretty nice so looking forward okay the preparation of course was ciled with a crash but we saw you back at the doofan you started to look better and better during that race how have things progressed over the last few weeks yeah I think um it wasn’t the best preparation uh that we could wish for with the crash of course um but like I said already before I was quite patient and uh took my time and I think in my attitude Camp I just did the work I have to do and uh yeah I think I I try to be here in the best shape as possible if you look back when you get toce what would a good tour to France look like to you uh complete my Trilogy that would be an amazing achievement for this tour and then just uh discover the tour uh live let’s say uh and try to end up as high as possible in the GC uh without really having a specific spot in mind just uh try to to test myself they in they out and try to be up there with the best as long as possible my dream I mean of course I still searching for the podium here the toour I think um yeah it’s going to be a challenge but once I’ve done that I’ll TI off all the podiums all the grand Tours so that’s what I’m aiming for but of course it’s going to be very difficult what do you think of the first stages here um I mean it’s especially this first stage I think it’s going to be quite quite a hard race and I prefer a hard opening just to sort of you know make that sort of Separation already um and of course I love racing in Italy anyway so uh I’m sure we’re in for a treat yeah you’ve got some great memories of being here haven’t you yeah I mean relatively good successful uh career here in Italy so uh yeah maybe enough one to answer it t you’ve just come off the stage to a crowd an amazing reception you won the jro here so do you think the crowd was even more uh for you tonight yeah the the crowd was amazing all the way up actually to from uh the other part to here was amazing to see all the people and uh actually it was uh yeah after the jro I think in Italy yeah I I grew even more and all the people changing my name was uh was quite impressive and uh yeah it went into my heart and I was uh yeah quite emotional uh on Podium and uh I didn’t have a good words to say on Podium I was a bit uh yeah struck about the fence yeah the toosi have taken you to their hearts for sure and I think you you have too so are you looking for an incredible start to this Tour of France here in Italy I think it’s going to be really uh really great start and beautiful one it’s uh yeah I don’t know uh every tour has its own story but uh this one will be special here in Italy start you it’s not a tour is not every time starting in Italy so yeah I think uh that’s going to be uh even uh bring it to Greater Heights how you prepared recovered since the jir Italia because that’s one huge Grand Tour yeah it was a big Grand Tour but uh the pr preparation went uh quite well uh some uh yeah not uh 100% uh smooth but uh I must say that I come here prepared 100% ready and uh yeah I’m ready to give it all and finally are you pleased Jonas is on the start line because he’s had his own troubles over the last few weeks yeah I’m happy to see him here and uh he’s looking good and I think yeah um he sure is confident to to be good otherwise I don’t think he would be at the start and uh yeah if he’s here he goes for the victory which is uh super nice to see I’m feeling really good actually I mean uh I’ve had really good preparation I think the buildup has been really consistent and um yeah in an upward curve if you like so um yeah I’m I’m excited I think it’s going to be a really nice uh opening to the the to the race as well here in Italy what do you think of the first couple of stages here cuz they kind of suit you yeah for sure they’re going to be uh super tough you know when we have almost 4,000 met climbing the first day it’s going to be um yeah it’s going to be a big day the tour to France overall then last year you rode really to learn and to find out what your body was capable of what you could achieve Having learned that what are your hopes in this year’s race yeah I want to be active I want to yeah make a an impact on the race not just kind of the uh racing in the shadows and and that’s my big goal really all the best have a good one thank you

    1. Lets go Bernal!!!! All these GC riders and Cav are just simply very happy and excited to be on the start. Nice to see. They are fit and ready for battle. Please no big crashes.

    2. happy to see jonas, but he looks like he's aged significantly and generally unwell (scarily thin – almost emaciated). sad to see this.

    3. he can lower expectations all he wants. after 1st stage we will know for sure… and especially after stage 4. I actually just hope that this thing can go tight in GC as far as it can (can you imagine stage 21 being decisive) but in all honesty 2 top contenders will crystalize after the 1st TT i think….. we rarely have more than 2 real contenders.

    4. Jonas viene de un colapso de pulmón y varias costillas rotas, el chico puede que no termine la carrera, este Tour es de Pogacar

    5. Vingegaard looks like he has barely enough core muscles to being able stand upright, crazy – but I'm sure he is ready to race, otherwise he wouldn't be there – probably aiming for those 7w/kg with his 50kg body weight :X

    6. I truly believe Jonas is being genuine, he's just happy to be here this year. ;_; Wishing him a safe and enjoyable tour, perhaps next year return healthy and with renewed focus and motivations.

    7. You really believe in this tactic games of words? For weeks he and his team send messages to the public how unsure his participation is, then suddenly a 7 h training ride with more than 3000 m elevation game was posted. His motivation is to keep his position as the Number 1 rider in his team, so he has to keep Jorgenson in check, and he could be much fitter than revealed. Will be an interesting tour; in several teams potential future Number 1 riders wait for their opportunity. Either he is fit or he feared to loose his status as Number 1 rider, we will see.

    8. Vinegar is just gonna chill out and let Pogi go with 1-2mins lead. Then he is just gonna blitz the two time trials putting a 1min30 lead on Pogi both time and wins the Tour. Here you go.
