v07 Riding from Bédoin to Grenoble and the Alpe d’Huez

Continuing our trek north, we get back onto the Via Rona (EuroVelo 17), then a new cycling route, the V63 (La Belle Via) to Grenoble while we wait for the rain to pass in the Swiss Rhone valley. We also tackle the Alpe d’Huez climb on a beautiful day.

[Music] our next objective after moou was get a 180 miles away as we left bedway kamuda navigation system took us on a shortcut through a very deep sand Trail before we rejoined Lala Medlin to some great views and then nice country roads all the way to ven which is known for its extensive Roman ruins including the theater as well as a medieval uh fortified town which is very well preserved and still active as we headed towards the rone we were on part of the 2024 to the France route and some of the towns were preparing for the event as we could we saw in susus and then in s [Music] sh although we were happy with the country roads we had been on with the varied crops the castles and and mansions along the way small the cute small towns and we were definitely happy to be back on near the OWN on euroo 17 with its nicely paved Trails keeping us away from the car traffic [Music] [Music] so Louise wind at our back today isn’t that nice yes beautiful path EV 17 full of cyclist touring cyclist from everywhere so it’s great Trail yeah beautiful right next to aoud which is okay nice break next to the rone to these nuclear power plants or power plant four of those yeah four cooling towers there so yeah it’s uh France gets a lot of their power from nuclear seem to have a very safe record and are very proud of it and and given that it’s low carbon emission probably has a future in many countries [Music] so we arriving in Valance along the road what a beautiful day of riding Valen yeah something like that the uh the road the trail continues to impress and uh so this we’re off of the Euro 17 but we’re on their local vo blue that they call and it’s fantastic the wind has picked up a bit but it’s at our back so we are all happy and have enjoyed this beautiful riding day great lunch as well yes once again it was nice to eat outside without uh the risk of being rain on [Music] Saturday morning June 15th the forecasters were right once again we uh we rented for 2 days here because earlier in the week the forecasters had had predicted uh rain for the for the day today good morning on this glorious Sunday morning beautiful weather so we just left Valance and we are heading to grobble Grano and uh we have uh enjoyed ev7 uh it’s been absolutely spectacular fantastic we that’s the way we’d like to travel and um we hate leaving it but we are now on um this v63 it’s called Bel via we decided to to get to go around uh Leon since uh all the YouTubes we’ve seen told us that it’s very difficult to get through and people usually take the train to get around it and the latest uh cyclist that we met on Friday that we talked about quite a bit with um said the the same thing so uh and uh if we combine that with the fact that the Ron Valley in Switzerland from Geneva all the way up to andat has been just you know raining every day uh for the last two weeks and they’re calling for another week of rain but it should clear after that so we decide to go and spend some time in the mountains we love the mountains anybody that knows us knows that we’ll be right next to Al Duz another staple of the to of France and this v63 follows the is River so uh it’s again very nice environment definitely uh recommend it as a route so as far as um as far Valance Valance was absolutely beautiful we you know surprised we had no idea what Valance was all about uh but what we really enjoyed is that there’s definitely a reinvestment in the uh in the city uh and in the downtown area a lot of families uh it’s very cyclist oriented and we went to a little show uh a little um it’s a a Summer Festival basically the beginning of the Summer Festival yeah so they had a band and uh just a lot of families that were there even late later in the the evening and so good energy for the place there’s parks and green re trees everywhere lots of restaurants yes lots of them they also uh we’re having three farmers market in Valance so it really is uh um lots of social activities to gather the people together so that was nice to see [Music] [Music] [Music] beautiful bicycle trail along these incredible Mountains and the river isah it’s been like this either on small quiet country roads near plantations of for fruit trees uh nuts Etc or on these bicyle paths [Music] stop [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] he [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] hey [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music]
