join cycling provides science-based adaptive training plans ensuring continuous Fitness Improvement I’ve experienced it firsthand this year and with join everyone can improve your Fitness in an easy accessible and enjoyable way stage one of the tour to France is here the big one we’ve all been waiting for pogy slapped everyone in the jro time for some real competition the big four here with an Italian Grande PA beginning in Florence under 35 5° temps with climbs all day nearly 4,000 M altitude game but the last climb is not so hard it’s pretty far from the Finish beautiful starts the teams presentation was amazing maybe not so beautiful for the sprinters but an opportunity for Riders like T Pacha when Mr prudom put the banner down and UAE were at the front they were trying to monitor proceedings but there was a lot of teams trying to go in the break away Kung thees F Jane Alon so that means vandol didn’t think he was getting the break today to Caston in and look who it is Tre initially trying to go for mads pedison they tried to control the Breakaway well they did and UAE used Solair and poit because they were interested at least initially in going for the stage win but there was way more teams than last year trying to get in this Breakaway making UA’s life difficult and when this man starts jumping stage one mate moric starts jumping in the break you best get on his wheel and start moving cuz he senses it and just his break he jumped once or twice gone MZ morid Frank ler Brook blocks up behind break is gone and it’s a nasty break abrahamson tries to bridge from the pellet on a 114 Gap yonus vingard bit of a wardrobe malfunction initially as he had a mechanical or change bike maybe it’s a double zipper PE break and then y man look at the push look at the push off I think he did the Ritch push off in the jot TT and then vingard drops his head unit so he’s he’s losing his head unit Chang bikes zipper undone but he gets back to the Pelton under his own steam no worries at all actually seemed pretty relaxed to be honest they didn’t drop anyone back for him abrah Hansson though he trucks over to that breakway Gibbon says thanks for the pull after not helping in newae they seem happy they’re like we wanted it but now it’s gone it’s too big for us to control and the break starts to go rogl and Bora are chilling they look easy day for them uh on the left hand side and pullets on the radio light the Gap is nearly 5 minutes are we going for the stage win do we call the bluff of someone to come and Chase but it’s hot conditions on these long climbs and Mark kavenish was the first to drop yakobson not long after with rickart and the break wasn’t going that hard at this point but it was so hot uh at least in the first 100ks of this station cloud cover came across later but EF they blinked they didn’t jump in the Breakaway they wanted to go for betol even though it’s a flat finish um and so they started to pace and that was bad news for Cavendish cuz the on sped up he was just dropping on that first long categorized climb and they sped up at the end of it and suddenly he’s on 4 minutes and he’s not looking good for the time limit Vanderpool comes to front what does that mean probably doesn’t think he can go for the stage today and it was just a grind for everybody but then e f disappear Gap goes out from 3 minutes again out to four 4 and a half minutes we thinking why is there no consistent pacing and then they’re back maybe they’re waiting for Quinn to return or some rulers like bis again it comes down from 5 minutes to 430 but now’s the Moment of Truth the hardest climb of the day Cod de baroto are UAE going to send it are they going to test yis finger guard in his first staging competition after the crash in the bass country and the answer was sort of uh they tried Well’s short pull drops David gdo out the back door the Breakaway splitting apart is it gear is cracking but well is gone Solair takes over and he pulls for maybe 700 M and pulls off and then it’s Civ off and no one’s really following him up there’s no Yates launch AO looks a bit suspect Matthew Vanderpool drops and only right at the end of The barboto Climb do we see mads Pon dropping and Tre getting all around him to try and bring him back keep him cool just cuz the next climbs are not as hard they’re 4 and 1/2k 7% 72% the next couple in the last climb is no problem for pedison and UAE slow down they use COV in the valley there’s the code to San Leo coming up that you can see vanarts in the group who are they going to Pace with the answer from now on was nobody and actually Vima Lisa bike put benote on the front say thank you very much was it because a Uso started to look really suspect in the heat was it for the vanard stage win but bade jumps quickly gets 40 seconds on the pelaton on that Sano climb and he’s got a satellite Rider Frank vandon Brook who won the Tour of turkey I know you all watch that Paul double double or duble a video earlier where this man won GC and he gets across B A to him and they start absolutely smashing they go P they catch the Breakaway again they go past MZ now Healey jumps and tratnik like all right you can jump he starts still pacing for w vanard and Healey gets caught in an kind of awkward Shas T because EF they wanted the stage win they knew that probably the Sprint wasn’t the option but this move from Healey wasn’t it cuz he was just not making any progress and probably at this point they needed to call him back to give their Riders bety all and really caua some options but he’s allowed to dangle for quite some time whilst kelderman who you know predictably crashed didn’t make much of an impression on the Gap this is only a 4% climb Healey’s finally caught the gaps 130 24K to go against two you know climbers a descent 17 K of flat light work right but 4,000 M elevation heat Frank ven Brook being an absolute mini pickup truck meant that little Tre EF and Vima Lisa bike weren’t making that much progress they brought 40 seconds out pretty quickly but then they start to get tired they’re going for pedon for Tre vanard for visma and I think betol for EF education easy post and Frank Vander Brooks pulling he’s stronger than b there’s Cuts in there but he doesn’t pull for Van Hills UAE they got five in the group and paga they don’t pull even though there’s free bonus seconds okay there’s a bit of moto interference maybe that the Comm weren’t too happy about but an absolute master class from DSM they got in the Breakaway with one of their best Riders super Talent Dutch man Frank vanen Brook B has the kones to bridge across and they do a two-up TT to deny vanard and the big GC guns winning the stage with Roman B vanat third what a win big hats off to DM and in his last tour to France the Frenchman B takes the huge dub ski ahead of Frank ven Brook his teammate then vanard Pacha van Hills aru peton aan Paul bilau and betol here’s what the always eloquent Roman B had to say after the stage it was The Ultimate Dream to for me to wear once the yellow J in my life uh I made the yeah I wasn’t sure it was it was meant to be uh because I was uh I was fighting for to be uh as close as possible to this jersey during uh almost a decade a bit less but you know from uh 14 to 2022 I would say I was already trying to be with the best guy fighting for it on the on the long run and now um I came back to my I think real natur and uh trying to do some more uh yeah being more natural and following my instinct is another Italian classic they go up the Steep San LCA climb even closer to the Finish should be some good GC action who do you think will win hope you enjoy the video and I’ll see you with the recap then ciao

    1. Was hoping Cavendish would not make the time cut… I do NOT want to see this dude crying and blubbering like a child, which he will do if he gets the 35th.

    2. Overall a very good opening stage with things in the balance until the last 300 meters. Excellent ride by bardet. The good- all leaders safely in the bunch no dramas. Wva looks like he has some form maybe the rest did him good. The bad – cavendish with more of the same today and the galiber so early it’s not looking good.

    3. During the awards ceremony, Bardet still looked to be in shock or disbelief. What an amazing day and final Tour for him. As much as sports are driven by money, greed and skulduggery, these little stories make it all worth it.

    4. So glad Bardet got the yellow. It would have been even more sweet if it were in France, but I’m sure he still received spectacular love and support. Great start. Let’s go TDF 2024!

    5. State 2 will win Maxim van Gills or some random decatlon rider. I am also exited to watch Kevin Vauquelin after his second place in Flesche Wallonne.

    6. You guys always give the best recap mixing good video footage and beautiful photo's and detailed explanation. Many thanks for this! Looking forward to this tour. Greetings from Italy

    7. Great first stage! Patrick, I'm surprised you were surprised by Jonas' 2-way zipper. I've had outdoor garments with this feature for many years in vests, jackets, and zip-off tights.

    8. I see shadows of Bardet in O Connor and other GC prospects, who've had a big result and then are pushed for far too long to try and compete in TdF GC. I'm so glad Bardet managed to escape that in the last few years, he's looked like such a better and happier rider at DSM (injuries notwithstanding)
