happy scooting hi it’s tim from tim’s electric today i want to share with you when do you choose to purchase an electric bike or an electric scooter so one of the reasons why i like electric vehicles is so i can just do my grocery shopping but when i show up with my e-bike i gotta find a great big heavy lock and get started with it but if i’m using my electric scooter watch this [Music] what about storage well there’s a big difference with storage if you have an e-bike which you can actually do is you can actually grab some pennies put those pennies on it just makes it so much easier or even if you just put it on the cargo rack at the back and some of them some of the big ones the cargos they’ll actually have grippy bolts at the very front of the actual bike that you can actually put great big racks on as well so hey that’s fantastic with a scooter what i found is i can loop a little bag up the front here some have a little hook up here as well um what i typically do though is i just put a backpack on one of the other issues you have between e-scooters and e-bikes is stability as we get older our balance actually gets a little bit worse so for some the stability of a bike and the knowledge of a bike might be a little bit more familiar but if you’re a little bit more adventurous electric scooter is definitely the way to go you know sometimes it actually rains here and it gets winter so weather is a big factor and what i mean by that is that you know on an electric scooter you’ve got these tiny little mud guards or and that’s great but they’re really small tires so when you’re going around corners with small tires and a little bit of spray um it’s they’re not designed for that however this with great big mud guards on great big tire it’s much better for riding around wet weather it’s actually just much more comfortable as well either way it’s not fun you know being exposed to the weather but either way if it’s going to rain i’d rather be on an e-bike than an e-scooter and the other thing is the ip rating so that’s the rating that allows you know it measures the amount of dust and or water into the unit i find the e-bikes are just better suited for for rain and electric scooters they’ve got a little ways to come yet peacock break one of the biggest factors between electric scooters and electric bikes is weight here’s a scooter typical scooter it’s about 40 pounds maybe 35 pounds pretty easy for me to carry up and down some stairs here we go and this is about the same size or sorry same weight it’s probably around 45 50 pounds but it’s a lot more unwieldy to carry around up and down some stairs oh that’s a lot heavier michael and i were just setting up to do some filming and all of a sudden i saw jess fly past in her electric scooter and i yelled out for her to stop i just wanted to ask jess why did you choose an electric scooter instead of an e-bike thanks for the question as you can see my scooter is awesome and portable so for me living in an apartment in fairfield where we don’t have secure bike storage this was a much easier option for something that i can easily and safely take up to my apartment it comes in at about 30 pounds so i can still carry it up the stairs without it being a big production can you fold it up i can would you like me to do that on camera okay we’ll see if i’m more graceful than the last time so it’s um a two-part so you pull a pin you pull a lever and folds right down thanks so much for doing that jess much appreciated you’re so welcome thanks happy scooting what about transport subways buses that sort of thing well if you live in a city like victoria our buses actually have these [Music] a few moments later that goes up to hold the bike in place [Music] so i’ve never done this before but i got it right but if you’re with an e-scooter you don’t have to dismantle the the bike you don’t have to take the the battery off you don’t have to take the panniers off you just fold it up walk on the bus pay your fare sit down and just basically look after your scooter make sure it’s not gonna slide around roll around that’s one thing that we’re gonna be worried about thank you bus driver what about distance that’s one of the things you’re going to have with electric vehicles is something called range anxiety now range anxiety is that idea that you might not get there the nice thing with ebike is that you can actually pedal your way through it so if you do get stuck that last few months you know half mile or a kilometer or so you can actually pedal all the way through with the scooter you’re going to be pushing it typically electric scooters especially the commuter ones they have a smaller battery just so they can be nice and light and nimble but the e-bike these things that have typically larger batteries so you’re less likely to have to worry about range x-factor what’s the x-factor tim well one thing i’ve noticed about riding e-bikes i love them for the distance i love the fact that if i have to go a certain distance and i mean like about probably for so everybody’s a little different here but for me about 10 miles 16 kilometers i’m gonna pick the e-bike over the electric scooter i just find range anxiety comfort over that long period of time i prefer the e-bike but the x-factor the x-factor is that electric scooters are fun they’re ridiculously fun you ride around with a great big smile on your face and having a blast and on this beautiful day i’m going to take my cameraman michael here for a lovely lemonade and we’re just going to end it there but if you have any comments leave them down below [Music] happy scooting

    1. I tried to take my scooter into Walmart in Edmonton, and they told me I had to leave it outside. Few stores allow bikes and scooters inside. I find ebikes have more practical purpose and greater versatility. I can load stuff on a bike, and I can use it during winter without having to worry about the cold draining the battery and leaving me stranded. Ebikes are better on slick surfaces, and with fat tires, you don't need suspension on rough terrain. Scooters are great for leisure, but if you're looking for something that isn't seasonal and can do more than go from one place to another, an ebike is the way to go.

    2. We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

    3. This wasn't about e-bikes vs e-scooters. This was about e-bikes vs. SMALL-WHEELED e-scooters. e-scootets are also available wi😮th other wheel combos: 28/20, 26/26, 28.18, 16/16, and more.

    4. The scooter by far!!! I love my Yume Y11+. I had an electric bike before but electric bikes just feel like a regular pedal bike just faster though. A scooter is an entirely different experience

    5. Ebikes are healthier as they are a form of semi active transportation in which one can get doctor recommended aerobic exercise on but Escooters have a place for micro mobility as they can often be taken into offices and many times doctor offices. I do have a nearby large grocery store (a Fred Meyer store) that permits me to take my ebike right into the store and use it just like a shopping cart but they probably permit me to do so as I am elderly (age 65) and disabled physically (heart patient with COPD).

Personally I own two ebikes (one designed specifically for riding in rainy weather without me getting wet at all and another one for good weather conditions).

I am looking at getting a Escooter when I have the funds for one.

    6. So it looks like i wont purchase either i cant find out what the legality is of scooters in california and class 2 ebikes cant climb hills so the are useless for where i live

    7. I just bought a Splach Titan and couldn't wait for it to arrive. On my first ride, I was stunned by how hard it was to get used to. Specifically, the throttle, brakes, and stability. For the throttle, I mean, you barely squeeze the trigger and ZOOM, off it goes, even in single mode. I live in a hilly area and the first time I went down a hill I was staggered when the regen brakes kicked in. Like the throttle, the power onset is not gradual at all. Now, when I go downhill, I start braking and keep the brakes on during the whole decent. Another feature where I live is roundabouts. With no turn signals and added instability by riding with one hand using the other to signal, there is no way I'm going to attempt to navigate a roundabout. So, I wind up pushing the scooter around until my exit. For me at least, any fun factor is pretty much completely mitigated by the fear factor. Anyone wanna buy a slightly used Splach Titan 10? 🙂

    8. My commute to work involves a very long descending hill. I'd say at most a mile. Sometimes a little snow as well.

How do the ebikes do on hills is my concern. 🤔

    9. I got both ..the ebike to ride around close to home and commute to work..the scooter for when i go to the beach.. it's portable so i could fold it and put it in my car..and when i get out on the beach ride around a bit.

    10. So I've never seen your channel before, but with this video being the most hilarious with its various effects I must admit this is one of the most entertaining videos I've seen on any topic all year so far!!!
