THIS VIDEO
This ongoing Video Diary by myself John Neal, sometimes known as John Longcroft-Neal, as the whim takes me.

TODAY’S SUBJECT is another glorious bike ride in the sunshine witnessing the verdant countryside of south Leicestershire and hay making viewed from the air.

    GENERAL STUFF
I am retired from two careers of primary school teaching when I was deputy head of a Middle School and Primary School, and as a self employed Chalkboard Artist from 2002 until I reached the grand old age of 65 in 2016. Since I retired it’s like a second childhood but with more expensive toys.

I play guitar and write songs and have written about 14 songs for the local BBC radio station. I run a weekly (weakly) evening Acoustic session at a local pub and have been doing so for 14 years now. I also started an afternoon acoustic session in a quite large cafe in Nuneaton. Both premises were former songwriting clients of mine.

Much of the music I use on this channel is taken from epidemicsound.com free to use on Youtube for a reasonable monthly fee, and sometimes I suffer you with my own music.

    Gear that I use:
    DJI Mavic Mini 3 Drone.
Iphone 15 Pro for camera, generally front facing so I can see myself in frame. Super quality especially if I keep the lens clean.
    Go Pro11
Gimble is a Q2 Smooth by Zhiyun, I ought to use this more often because it was expensive.
    Canon G7mk2
    Sony IC recorder

    Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone

Rhode videomic to do voice over on computer
Video editing with Final Cut Pro X
Polarduck Mini Tripod for mobile phone. This is so good and under £10.00 I bought two.
    Lamcou bendy leg tripod
    Smatree Tripod / mono pod
Mono pod is a Manfrotto Compact MMC3-02 and is very useful for getting high angles that look like low flight drone shots and so easy to carry on my bike along with the mini tripod.

My bike is a e28 Estarli electric bike.

I also enjoy gardening but lay no claims to have any expertise, and you might catch me out in the countryside of Warwickshire and nearby Leicestershire on a walk with my wife or on a bike ride.

Please comment below to inform further plans for my vlogs. I’d love to hear from you. If you don’t you will just get whatever bubbly ideas float to the surface of my slightly muddled elderly mind.

well good morning John lro Neil here to give the for Monica it’s Thursday the 27th of June 2024 I’m just going for a bike ride see what I can see come [Music] on I would walk for miles in the hope I’ve seen your face let me just tell you something about the weather you can see over there look at it it’s really dark and threatening and might even be raining but the wind’s going that way and what we getting is this blue sky we’ve just had a mini Heat Wave and it’s been quite warm yeah mid 20s I’m not going to talk fahren night for anybody um which for us is quite hot so now I’m just going out for a nice bike ride I’m going to get to Market Bosworth and I’m aiming for the Gated Road and yeah just going to go out and enjoy myself see what I can see as usual I hope you like the um name that roof project that was good fun uh but this is just back onto another bike ride somebody was I was talking to somebody about the value of these uh videos and one guy I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but he actually spent two weeks in hospital with a serious operation and he liked to get out on his bike and he spent two weeks watching my videos so for many it’s just a matter of getting out in the countryside and it is gorgeous today the sun has finally come out which is nice and it’s June all the leaves and trees and bushes are all in full flow so let’s just go and enjoy [Applause] [Music] it theyy up want stay in this club the we can Mo my ah now I’ve come to a quiet spot I can tell you what the plan is I’ve got a plan not much of a plan but it’ll do me one I’m trying to make the battery last longer on the electric bike the E28 made by istari um by turning off the the power as often as I can because you can just ride it like a regular bike and I found that uh on a recent trip doing this I managed to get 50 mil that’s 80 km oh yes from the modern thinkers which is very good so I’m going to see if I can do similar this time just as I thought it was going to be quiet got bloody traffic everywhere good grief anyway look at it down there it’s nice isn’t it sorry I’m easily distracted at my age and uh secondly I’m just going to go to market Bosworth which is a a nice step out it’ll be about uh nearly 20 miles to get there but I’m going to go my usual route through wiin into Stoke golden dad Linton and off to Market Bosworth and the weather is picking up early yeah it was probably about 16 17° uh yesterday it was very sunny and hot and it went to about 27 so I’m thinking today it might pick up and uh be quite warm again so I’ve got some bits and pieces with me you might have noticed as well I’ve got a bag on the front there which has got a little seat in it so I can sit wherever I want right okay let’s Press On [Music] [Music] good morning tan nice name [Music] maybe I don’t want stay in this can Mo my there’s no sh my take the [Music] n [Music] [Music] he baby don’t be afraid you just follow my way tonight we will fight together [Music] this crop of blue flowers is indeed flax which I understand is quite difficult to harvest but quite lucrative take you up by the whole night we will walk you [Music] well I’m way now and we’re going to Market Bosworth and uh there’s a hill to climb and this is where the electric bike is an absolute dream because it’s quite a long hill and it levels off and then it goes up again it’s interesting to know all these uh villages and towns and I’m still not sure where the market bosor is a town or a village but they’re all on Hills sto golden on a hill dad lon’s on a hill and certainly Market boss with this so I’ve got to climb up here I think you can get a look over here look you can see the sort of terrain I’m looking at but no bother on my E28 Esty electric bike just no problems I’m just talking to you now and going uphill by the way level two on the battery the power and the battery is still on five bars so it claims to have not used anything uh over the last eight to nine miles uh so yeah I’m trying to preserve the battery as I go I’m going up here up this fairly shallow Hill to be honest but uh and I’m on power resistance level two oh dear talk about school boy error there’s a a farmer here and he is uh turning this hay over ready to be bailed so I thought yeah let’s put the Drone up and trouble was put the Drone up I hadn’t put the card in it I thought I checked it the little SD card it’s tiny it’s bigger than a half a quarter of a stamp it’s a tiny thing but fortunately I have one in the control controller so I got that ready and got it out and then I dropped it in the grass and uh I did find it though so I took it up took the Drone back up over near where the tra one looking great cuz he was spinning uh this divite on the back and turning the hay over and now he stopped I presume it’s either broken or he’s just taking a break I don’t now oh [Music] dear smile [Music] [Music] [Music] smile smile smile smile smile smile smile smile [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] oh this is the last life as they say oh what’s the time it’s nearly lunchtime anyway oh this is excellent right well yesterday we had a family reunion my two older sisters joce and June were around so we um had some special cake brought in and not everything was eaten so I’ve got some here some fruit cake that’s the end piece and it’s got a bit of paper stuck to it anyway very nice there’s a chi chaff finally heard one well and if you just want to sit watch me eat these and I got some some dates and um some water you can listen to the chi chaff if you like H lovely day and this tree a you know I like a tree but this one’s a beautiful big oak tree all the leaves are out massive trunk as you can see fantastic good day to be alive you can see there was a bit of Breeze the way this Rose Bay Willow herb was wafting in the breeze but I did manage to get the Drone up to see the farmers make hey while The Sun [Music] Shines My [Music] [Music] [Music] Dr Tove myet to drink [Music] myet Dr my my feet want to drink my one [Music] [Music] there you have it folks under the right in the beautiful South leerer Countryside and you know I’m just doing this because there are some people who can’t even get out of the house or they’re confined to bed or hospital or something so I’m more than happy to take you on a trip out and about uh even though there’s just the regular stuff to see which is all still very nice the flowers the trees the farmers in the fields doing what they’re doing and get a feel of the nice sunny day excellent okay you know what you will see me next time bye-bye [Music]

    1. John that was so good. I really do miss the English countryside in summer. Great memories of last year going to MB. Due to a neck problem I have been at home for a while and so really enjoyed this. Haven’t seen your garden for a while.

    2. Hi John I saw you on you run yesterday . I was the old guy droopy moustache cycling other way Mill lane half a mile before Shenton antiques. My favourite run to Shackerstone by way off Congerstone and back round through Carlton . { Unusual church a tower with a gable ? }
