so we’re here in Florence Italy at the Grand par of the 2024 tour to France and we’ve been looking for the latest and greatest new bikes now as always we’ve got some incredible machines to show you including the new Tre madone the new pillarella Dogma F and a very cool unreleased D AO road bike but before we get to any of that a big thanks to motal for sponsoring this part of the video and if you haven’t already don’t forget to give this video a like And subscribe to our channel for more videos like this and let’s start with the PIN [Music] all right so here we have the brand new pinell Dogma F now this particular one belongs to garant Thomas the 2018 to of France winner I know what you’re thinking looks pretty similar to the old Dogma F and that is true but they have been some changes now the frame set or the frame I’m told is only 5 G lighter than the old one so it’s 860 for a size 53 versus 865 for an old Dogma F frame set however we’re looking at 108 G like overall because there’ve been changes all over the rest of the bike so you know kind of the dropouts and the seat post the kind of Saddle clamp and in particular The Handlebar Now The Handlebar sees the kind of biggest weight savings it’s like 40 G lighter it’s also had some profile changes which we’ll talk about in a little bit the frame set itself is said to be 0.2% lower in terms of CDA I don’t know what that translates to in terms of like you know what saved as at a particular speed but the kind of main changes here are this extra little fill-in bit behind the head tube just kind of lengthening that head tube AA foil it’s also the head tube is thinner slightly more hourglass shaped this seat tube also looks to be a little bit Slimmer with the kind of slightly redesigned Junction between the seat tube and the seat stays so this head tube has got Slimmer in part thanks to a kind of reorganized cable routing system now the old one used to be compatible with both electronic and mechanical drivetrains this new one is just electronic only and because obviously most of the latest electronic Wireless shifters Are Wireless that means you don’t have to have space to rout wires and mechanical cables through here just breake hoses and then you can just make it a little bit Slimmer overall and then that contributes to that covery you know lower CDA one of the most striking features and you hard to kind of see it from this angle but we’ll obviously put in some cutaways is this Arrow Keel bottom bracket now it looks a little bit interesting but it kind of extends forward from the obviously the bottom bracket area closer to the front wheel before kind of kicking up now pinell says that this is obviously you know it’s called an arrow Keel so obviously has a small Arrow benefit apparently this also helps improve the stiffness of the bike as well so when you’re obviously you cranking out massive numbers that’s going to make a little bit of a difference there so they’ve increased the tire clearance I think it’s up from 28 mm on the old one to 30 millim on this one you know we have seen you know bikes with bigger tire clearances the TAC sl8 has 32 mm of clearance for example and the sell S5 goes up to 34 we asked pinell about that but they said that adding more Tire clearance would essentially harm its kind of stiffness and handling characteristics so they decided that 30 was a good compromise in terms of drivetrain garant Thomas is running a 54 42 chain ring on his J Ace di2 r9200 group set and he’s got an 11 to 34 too cassette out back on this bike they’ve got jur a C50 Wheels you know I would expect that we see some of the inos Riders on Princeton wheels at some points in the race but obviously we’re a couple of days out from the tour start and they’re just running the J race wheels as things go in terms of tires they’ve got uh 28c Conti GP 5000 ST tires I think these are kind of new ones with little black logos now last year’s tour we did see inos some some of the inos Riders switching to the tttr versions of these tires which are kind of lighter a little bit faster but a little bit less puncture resistant so I do wonder if we’ll see that again at this year’s tour we’ll have to kind of look out for that during the race turns of light nice little details that you know don’t necessarily spot out a wide of view we’ve got this really cool 3D printed titanium saddle clamp up here and the team mechanics have just put little marks on the saddle rail clamp so they get that exactly right and then up front they’ve got this really cool integrated uh like 3D printed AO Garmin Mount that just Smooths the kind of integration of the bike computer with the handlebar really really nicely uh I don’t know if that’s a standard thing for the kind of you know P this new Pinella bar or if it’s something aftermarket but either way it looks really slick now understandably inos are quite protective of their bikes we did ask if we could weigh it they said no but they claim it weighs 7.2 kilos obviously without the bottles what do you reckon though do you think that’s right or do you want to take your own guess let me know in the comments below and she got a little transponder clip on here just so that again this is just the send little race data back to the kind of um TV motorbikes and cars that’s kind of all the main things done as I said we weren’t allowed to weigh it but I think we can get some Tire measurements and some crucial handlebar measurements so let’s do that [Music] now as promis we’re going to quickly measure the tires now I believe these are 28c tires as I said earlier on these rims they’re com out at 30.2 mm so a little bit wider possibly because these rims have a slightly wider internal width but you know pretty pretty wide for a kind of allr a bike but that’s something we’re seeing more often these days so just measured the bar and stem surprisingly narrow I think when we saw garant Thomas’s bike at the 2022 Tor of France grandapa in Copenhagen I believe he was running like a 38 CM bar but now this is measuring like 35 CM Center to Center there is a little bit of flare at the drops we’ve got a 13 cm stem as well that’s a pretty narrow and aggressive position but you know like one of those marginal gains and obviously we’ve been walking around the team mechanic trucks here came to see the RCR Pro but what we did spot was a van rle fcr a road bike now we know it’s an fcr cuz it says it on the top tube but it does make sense as well because van Rell has the fcr era helmet now this is an unreleased era road bike so that’s why they won’t let us film it but I imagine someone from the team is going to be riding on stage one and what van R doesn’t know is we have a zoom [Music] lens all right well what do we have here this is the new AOW bike from the Taiwanese brand dare that sponsors the Uno X team now we don’t really know anything about this it’s an unreleased bike we haven’t had a press release or anything like that obviously we can see it’s an arrow road bike it’s got incredibly deep tubes like this head tube is one of the deepest I’ve seen on an AA road bike in a really long time it’s like something of a time trial bike this Fork as well incredibly deep section AA full tubes and integrates really cleanly with the head tube here I think it’s called the velocity Ace says that on the down tube I guess it’s a replacement for the vssr which is the era road bike that the unex team used to ride we saw the D vssr at the at last year’s tour R by Alexander Kristoff this is Kristoff’s bike again I guess he’s not riding the VSU this year one thing that’s kind of really interesting is the way the top tube Rises to kind of Meet the stem and there’s a kind of neat little integrated headset cover here that kind of Cups the stem around it at the rear end of the bike got a really again really deep section seat tube heavily dropped seat stays that kind of flare out and just stay in line with it they obviously Arrow f as well then you got a deep section Arrow seat post and on top of that seat post it’s got a kind of different position thing so you can have a kind of really steep seat post angle kind of more akin to a time trial or triathlon bike or something that’s a bit more uh set back or relaxed like you would see on kind of normal road bike and then up front one of the kind of most striking things about this bike is this handlebar now this is one of the kind of like deepest section A for handlebars I’ve seen it doesn’t look like they’ve made any kind of concessions to comfort when holding the tops on the drops it’s just super super thin as well now in terms of group set Kristoff is running a Shimano 12-speed dur a di2 on 9200 group set it does have a few kind of non Shimano things and an upgrade first of all we’ve got this FSA power boox power meter with the FSA carbon cranks and chain rings and then at the rear deria he’s had his uh deria upgraded with a ceramic speed oversized pulley wheel and you know you can see it’s got the kind of uh filled in massive lower pulley wheel now I don’t think that’s for Arrow but I think it’s just to stop kind of grit and dirt getting in between the kind of spokes of the pulley wheel but looks of things Kristoff is also running a wax chain I believe that’s the first we’ve seen here at this year’s tour you know obviously wax chains are supposed to be a little bit faster than a kind of you know normal oil chain but I think the kind of realities of you know washing these bikes kind of every single day means it’s kind of hard to maintain a wax drivetrain because if you just kind of power wash off all the wax you then got to take the chain off put it in the wax cooker again and I think for the kind of for most teams and most Riders they’re just not going to get that option in terms of Wheels Kristoff is running the the DT Swiss Arc 1162 those have 62 mm deep rims and on those they’re still running the shulby uh Pro one tires now when we saw these tires last year we noticed that they had this kind of blue branding and this blue kind of line around the edge now we hadn’t seen that before and I kind of wondered whether it was maybe a kind of new version of the tire we did ask shy and they just basically said no comments so we’re not really sure I have to assume that they are something different otherwise they would just said oh no it’s just a special version for the team so I guess it’s still kind of watch this space with that one now we’ll weigh this in just a minute but it is interesting to see that in terms of pain they’ve just gone for a clear coat over bare carbon and presumably that’s just to keep the weight down as low as possible all right then let’s get it on the scales all right bang on 8 kilos so yeah not super light that’s kind of a kilo and 200 g over the UCI weight limit so be interesting see if he does use this for the mountain stages all right so let’s measure this handlebar we kind of got say it’s a um got 38 CM handlebar so fairly narrow paired with a maybe an 11 or a 12 CM stem so not the longest stem I think it’s the same as what Kristof was running last year in terms of like maybe a 110 120 mil stem plus a 38 CM bar all right let’s measure the tires okay so they’re coming up at just under 28 mm which is kind of like slightly narrower than what we’ve seen on a lot of bikes here but I guess with these Arrow rims they are maybe not the widest internally and so they’re kind of not spreading the tire out anymore all right so we’re here with the brand new Tre Mone just launched and as you can see very very different to the old one now the kind of interesting claims is that Trek saying that this is obviously more Arrow than the amonda but it’s also apparently more Arrow than the madone by 0.1 watt it’s kind of very specific there’s kind of little bit of trickery going on that makes that possible but you’re probably wondering how that’s kind of possible given the tube shapes are so much like more rounded and less deep than on the old one so I’m going to walk you through all the details right now so overall the kind of a four shapes have got kind of shorter and more rounded overall now TK says that this kind of makes it slightly better at lower y angles whereas the old one was faster at the uh the higher y angles but T says that the kind of riders that when they’re going at to front speeds mainly focused or mainly feel lower your angles and so that’s how it’s better the kind of Arrow water bottles are also playing a key role in thisly they integrate really cleanly with the down tube and that provides an extra Arrow effect that you wouldn’t get on the old bike now I kind of think it’s interesting cuz T’s testing with the old bike you know when comparing it to this doesn’t include those new aerrow water bottles so you kind of do have to wonder whether the the old bike might be a little bit faster with the arrow water bottles but you know T Tre might say that kind of old frame isn’t really optimized for it and therefore it’s not going to work as well but I guess we’ll never know they’re not going to share that information with us the kind of net benefit of all these changes though is that overall the uh Mone SLR gen 8 is around 322 G lighter than the kind of SLR gen 7 which is pretty significant obviously if a water bottle with 500 Ms in it weighs about 500 G you know that’s that’s 322 G of a significant amount of weight also says that slimming down the rear end means this kind of the isof flow tube that they’ve kept is around 80% more compliant that’s kind of interesting as well because when Trek made the last ISO flow on the Gen 7 Mone it said that it kind of made it at the kind of stiffest uh level that ISO speed had on the Gen 6 one so it’s kind of interesting that they’ve gone even more compliant cuz they sort of said previously that the pro riders hadn’t really asked for it to be any more compliant but you know obviously this bike is going to cuz it replaces the amond and the Mone probably going to be raced at even the color Cobble Classics and so maybe it’s a kind of Nod towards that up front there’s also a new handlebar it’s got a kind of flare drops like before with the the lever hoods kind of tilted in for a more aerrow hoods position but interestingly TX says this new bar is actually less aerodynamic in isolation but kind of like the Riel Ultra SLR it’s more Arrow once a rider gets on the bike so I think essentially the kind of tops of the bar just a little bit less arrow and disrupt the air flow over the rider’s legs and as a system then it makes the whole package slightly more aerodynamic see this year treker running the new swam red axis group set this is Carlos for owner’s bike and he’s got it set up with a 5441 too uh chain ring set up front and a 10 to 33 tooth cassette out the back obviously the first stage at this year’s tour has around 3 and a half th000 M of climbing so I kind of wonder if he might swap out for some slightly smaller chain rings for that stage but I guess we’re kind of have to see they’re running time pedals which is part of the samam family and also the bond trer alss RSL 51 wheels on those wheels are the new plli P0 race tlr RS tires kind of new version said to be a little bit lighter little bit faster than the standard pelli P0 tlr and on this bike we’ve got a uh a kind of Trek or a bondre a RSL saddle which you don’t really recognize but it it could be a new model but it’s got a like a really it’s got carbon rails kind of like a short shape so that’s kind of interesting that could be something new got a little race number holder just glued on here and this little thing here is just for a little transponder that sends data back to the TV cameras in terms of like last little details Trek uh the little Trek team is sponsored by kogal bearings and so both of these wheels have been upgraded with kogal ceramic bearings just for a little marginal gains doesn’t make that much difference in the real world but it’s nice to have it if you can so one of the interesting things with the cockpit up front is that you don’t have to run this integrated bar we’ve seen other bikes on the team on the rack on the team car with a kind of non-integrated setup so it is also possible to run a standard stem and a standard round bar if you want to which is quite nice in terms of the geometry T says it’s similar overall to the last Mone still very racy kind of similar to tre’s previous h1.5 fit but it’s kind of interesting because trekers talked recently about right sizing their business and part of that moving from the Mone and the amonda into kind of one bike the Mone they’ve also reduced the amount of sizes available I think they’ve gone from 8 to six with this new bike you that means obviously fewer molds you know fewer cost for the brand so obviously be and see if they start the uh start the races with these aerrow bottles and then switch to round bottles during the stages I believe that these cages can take a standard round bottle which is pretty important because otherwise you know if you’re getting a hand up from a neutral service car you know they’re not going to have the arrow bottles on the kind of motorbikes or in the neutral service car so the ability to take a round bottle is obviously important okay 7.46 kilos not bad at all this is a pretty big bike obviously with aerrow wheels and kind of what looked like quite chunky tire so that’s not bad all right so we just stopped past the Alin Hotel obviously looking for the new Canyon a road wouldn’t let us film it but we did manage to get a few pictures before we were kind of shoed away so we can bring you some sneaky details on that you know and overall I think it kind of confirms what we saw at the doof where really didn’t appear to be kind of major changes now interestingly the bikes that we saw here we saw a number of them from just kind of normal teen bikes through to a kind of custom gray one for yasper Phillipson and a new custom kind of white and World Champions theme color for Matthew vandero they didn’t have a handlebar with the gear Groove like we saw on the bikes at the doofan but it’s still definitely a new handle bar cuz the stem is more angular and the way it kind of integrates with the frame is just slightly different we can clearly see that the rear end of the bike is also just a little bit Slimmer than before the seat post has definitely been slimmed down as far as the seat tube yeah can only imagine that’s to kind of make it lighter there there don’t appear to have been kind of any major aerodynamic changes to the kind of overall package so you know it kind of looks like that this bike is really focusing on maintaining the kind of aerodynamics of the old bike but just kind of slimming it down making it even lighter than before so it’s kind of more useful on more stages so that’s really all we can tell you about the new bike you know if there are some major changes under the hood that we’re missing obviously we’ll let you know as soon as we can but if you want to see more of that bike right now then luckily for you we did get some video footage of it at the Criterium the doof a few weeks ago you can watch that video just up there all right and that’s all the new bikes that we saw at the Grand aart of the 2024 tour to France if you made it this far thank you very much we love you don’t forget to like And subscribe and stay tuned because we’ got another 1. I liked the explanation of why waxed chains aren't often used in pro stage races. The GCN boys always act mystified when they encounter an oiled chain at a race.

  2. 7.46 kg for the trek is imo heavy. But thats mainly due to the bontrager wheels. With some lighter (same height) bike would weigh around 7 kg

  3. I like Simon;'s look. Seems like a cycling Jesus. "Do you have a few minutes? I wish to speak with you about our lord and saviour Aerolord, the fastest god in the universe. Memberships get you a 3 g seat clamp that saves 0.07 watts. "
