first disaster didn’t put Sun cream on now it’s put too much on one side on one arm pale arm spread it around oh just take the gloves off yeah I think wise how far into the ride are we um we are so we are about well technically 1.3k but that’s cuz I’ve ridden to you and then ridden home again to get you sunscreen me yeah about 300 M this is Alex Alex is a owner of a very lovely gym and a professional footballer So today we’re doing our La call 8848 ride uh conveniently I have to do 100 m and I’ve completed the challenge you have got to do 8,884 M and you’ve completed the challenge we doing a big route and we’re going to try and take on oh look at this bug he’s pretty good do a big route today taking on a load of the big Punchy climbs in the Peak District Alex is going to drop me on most of the climbs I’m probably going to drop them on the descents um I’m good for about 30k and then after that I’m going to be flagging so I’m just going to be hanging on to Chris I think for the rest of the ride but we’ packed up aren’t we we’ve got lots of sweets we got lots of bars we got lots of sterker stuff uh it’s potentially up to 160k depending on how how we go so we’re going to we’re going to do it we’re going to see how we get on first up forn Cliff Bank my coach Ken’s least favorite climb the worst one about I think compared to any I’ve done it’s horrible it’s horrendous told you take it easy yeah right first climb Thorn Cliff Bank about 7K just under 300 M of climb into the top there’s a really steep bit in the middle which is horrible um but it kind of sets the standard for what’s going to happen for the rest of the day basically lots of climbing lots of descending very up down up down but this is the climb I do you’ve been watching many of the other videos this is the climb I tend to do probably every ride you’ve never ridden 100 miles never he chose a spicy one how much elevation 3 and half th000 M yeah you could definitely do easy 100 miles yeah I did a video on how to do 100 miles you know it basically says ride flat Roots I should watch that last night [Music] [Music] [Music] we’re on the next significant climb it’s not a long one this 2K 200 bit K 100 met of climbing cro Co is that how you say it Crow cut Crow cut my homeown local knowledge it’s basically one of the only like switch backy climbs in this part of the Peak District and the switchbacks are steep rest of it pretty gradual switchbacks suck opening a banana on the ride oh no I’ve got some skin in my mouth extra F FBS extra FBS extra fiber so we’re about I think we’ve done three or four of the categorized climbs on uh on the Garmin which are 21 it’s a lot yeah but we’re chipping away AR we we’re ch away we’re getting there so 25k done 600 M climbed over 2,000 to go this is what riding in the Peak District is like though it is quite a lot of climes it’s undulating pretty Relentless but I adamant it is one of the best places to ride a bike in the whole UK so one of the things in the Peak District that we have we have a hell of a lot of hill climbs uh there’s tons of very famous hill climbs around here we’re going to be tack in off some of them on this ride so I cocked up on the route left here we’re actually um going down monel head might end up going up I can’t remember but this is the famous hill climb in October which I haven’t done I probably should do not B so you come up this monster coming towards us you finish by the pub it’s a big bit of a Punchy one I can’t remember if I made the route go up it I don’t think I did I think I made it go up a worst climb yeah you know the one 30% oh what’s it called bamb bamb cloth or something yeah wow one I’ve always wanted to try but then always avoided yeah I don’t really want to try it yeah and I don’t think we’ve got a choice of avoid again just stick it in the lowest gear and smash the pedals see what happens chocolate bar time if anyone’s not that aware of what hill climbs are it’s a in the UK we have uh a national championship for hill climbs you’d have seen I’ve done some videos on it previously last year and it’s basically you start at the bottom of Hill you go a set time you ride up it as fast as you can you almost feel like you’re going to die when you get to the top maybe be sick taste blood in your mouth all of that lie down on the floor and then you celebrate the first fastest person up it’s quite simple but it’s pretty Savage um I’ve done a few I’m not very good at them but I really enjoy them elevation never comes up on camera but that is steep 20% 20 is plenty oh man so we ended up doing a bonus climb not the root climb and it was a Savage Savage monster tell me were supposed to do look like a bit of a grally trail so we stayed on the road and it just went up and up and up and up a bit more and up a bit more average gradient 54% 54% literally white riding up a wall we’re about to go into what I’m going to call Chris’s crazy circles which is Spaghetti Junction Spaghetti Junction are Loops that just don’t stop with climbing we’re gonna have M tour or mam Nick I don’t really know what’s the correct word for the climb in the hill Winn pass bomber clu or whatever it’s called what’s it called bomber bomber Bumble CL Bumble CL um I feel like this is Chris’s payback for me for all the sessions I put gy [Music] eating some Collins strawberries about to do a climb called Bamford cloth B we still we broke through the town yeah Bamford Bamford yeah apparently this is one of the steepest climbs in the whole of the United Kingdom of England and Scotland and Ireland and Wales used to be gravel truck only got T at recently oh really yeah last two years I think I think I prefer at gravel to be honest with you I have no qualms with walking part of this average gradient it says 5% but that kind of doesn’t take into account that black bit at the start oh sh what the so we found a problem it’s shut this is a private drive and you on the floor yeah not how I envisioned it going oh just pause so we’ve ridden all this way to ride a 35% climb that’s closed I fall on my bomb and you fell on your bum The Climb we’re supposed to be doing is there we we’re going to be cheeky and read what it says on the sign see if it actually is proper closed but I think it’s quite likely that we Choppers will not be riding a 35% gradient climb today oh no I’m so upset 23rd of February 20125 that’s it mate we’ll do it next year then so that’s a shame um we won’t be doing uh whatever this hill is called Bamford Bamford clth B we won’t be doing Bamford cloth because it’s closed and until next year so we’ll come and ride this route again next year um but as you can see through there 35% cyclists and horse riders please Dismount it says this is literally my idea of Heaven banana bread and granola and coffee and the S pelino and a good person sitting next to me and the son with the with his mouthful we’ve stopped this is Alex’s recommendation grasshopper Branch lunch specialty coffee in Hope wood wood again yeah this is been here several times yeah you’re a local I’m a regular and there’s a bike shop there there’s a bike shop there as well so if you ever need anything you can get your bike shop stuff but yeah we’re in hope the next climb we’re going to be doing is we’re going to go through eale then we’ve got mam Nick I think the climb is mam Nick and the and the hill is called M tour I don’t honestly know what way around it is so please someone correct me in the comments but we’re going to be doing that then we loop back around and then we go up win’s pass and then we head back through buckon and then start to make our way back towards leak where we both live getting dropped High rocks champ Dro in a cyclist [Music] a [Music] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] the red ambulance is back in business that’s fantastic that’s pretty chill isn’t it so we’re we’re kind of at the bottom of wnns and uh I decided that we need to stop and a little bit tired so I wanted some Coca-Cola sometimes you just got to go and visit the red ambulance who’s got to visit you who’s got to visit you what do you think it’s been crushed but it’s good good combo well done Magnum bunk stopped on time to go win it pass just just over 200 M of elevation through that Gorge it’s a collapsed mine I believe is it yeah I don’t know didn’t know that huh [Music] [Music] we are making a be line for home now it’s 10 to 5 it’s getting late going to miss out another little Loop um we’re still going to have 2 and 1 12,000 M of elevation in about 13k it’s still very big day out but my legs are tired Alex has got a client at 6:00 cuz he runs a gym so instead we’re we got about 17K I think till home that’s the takeway choice tonight takeway Choice uh chips and chips from the fish and chip shop vegetarian option chips and chips what’s yours I think I might join your fishing so yeah good domino how you feeling mate oh good looking forward to a bath with some food yeah big day out you got to train someone as well oh that remind me yeah yeah only one though hour hour 1 hour just Mak him push the Sledge for an hour I’m going to put them on the bike and say hour yeah hour at the pace we’ve ridden at on level 10 Winns on the W bike 10 times we’re nearly home we’ve cut off the main road we’re now going the back way up Thor Cliffe where we started the day so we get descend that climb and then we’re back home big day out 2 and 1 half th000 M of climbing probably when we get to the end [Music] oh [Music] a [Music] what an amazing way to spend the summer solstice riding bikes with my mate doing big silly bike rides out into our home area Wiggles hello hello oh my goodness n my [Applause] goodness can’t do it so well with gloves well done that was a pretty Savage day great day mate n hungry starving I’ve changed my changed my menu told Chris on the way back and go for two steaks yeah pizza and then maybe chips from the chippy 1. Great to see a video on the routes I often ride and suffer 🙂 Next time maybe include Goytt valley and Cat and the fiddle.
P.S. I am guilty of doing it the past but apparently you are not supposed to throw banana peals in the hedges.

    2. Your mate did alright in the end, after that dire prediction of blowing up after 30k. Good way to spend the solstice though, pretty views from up there. Thanks for the doggo at the end, funny little mutant he was and so glad to be reunited.
