We take our TINY LIVEABOARD HOME on the final part of the Tidal River to Keadby Lock.
It’s a lovely journey as we and our buddy boat cruise the vast river.

However, there’s something we reveal about our NARROWBOAT HOME at the end…things are not all they seem…

you find us today about to leave West stock with lock onto the tidal River Trent as we’re waiting for the tide to settle you can see Jan here talking to lock keeper wolf a really helpful and knowledgeable chap whilst we were waiting we were also joined by our cruising buddy later to become a friend Mark on narrowboat melwyn you’ll see why mock became such a good friend maybe not in this Vlog but very soon once wilf was happy with the levels he let us out well hello hiya and welcome to this week’s Vlog or if you’ll say today’s vlog because we don’t do weeklies doing not anymore we do Fortnight Liz and where are we Jan we’ve just come out of West duck with who stuck with stock with where’s stock with just two boats yeah and uh lovely information from the CRT guy there called wilf wilf the lock keeper really put your mind at rest at rest and tells you everything yeah so I’m just increasing the speed our um our Buddy Guy at the front um is going at a steady space he’s steering his boat with his feet yeah so he’s got a tiller traditionally because it’s a narrowboat but he’s also got a steering wheel which you can steer by sitting on a seat and steering with his foot and because it’s more precise than the tiller he doesn’t have to move it that far for it to move the tiller left or right and he can at a moment’s notice slap the tiller on and go back to normal narrowboat operation so we’re heading to kidbe which is the last lock well I mean you can go to Whole um no you yeah but we’re not going to hold don’t worry this is the last lock on the tidal Trend to get off and then we should be on the south Yorkshire navigations South Yorkshire navigation which I think is the staying forth in creepy Canal sorry about the noise the radios on obviously it’s got three radios three radios radio for our body I’ve got our little two-way radio so I can keep in touch with Jan at the front of the boat and then I’ve got the VHF radio so I can hear any other boat traffic and also contact the lock Keepers along the way this is lovely so it should be about two two and a half hours um we’re obviously now at sort of slackish water tides going out I’ll check the speed on the speedo there’s no good looking at that because there’s a fair amount of wind though isn’t that yeah there’s a bit of wind coming up the opposite way but if I look on here yeah what we’re doing four miles an hour at the moment so we’re not Canal time we’re hunking out time speed so yeah we can go a little bit faster if we want to we don’t need to but yeah so about three hours in total at that sort of speed anyway let’s see what we see on the way [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] sign here is saying you can’t anchor at this point between this sign and the sign coming up because there’s a gas pipeline running underneath sorry if it’s a bit windy by the way that bridge ahead is the motorway the M180 we’ve picked up a bit of wind which has given us a bit more Chop on the river than we’d probably like there we go all these things sent to triers aren’t they [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thank you [Music] that’s the entrance to the lock so that’s where we’re headed obviously we’re gonna turn so we’re coming back against the tide as usual I think that’s probably the fraught with Brown trousers moment you can get you guys want to pull back a bit so to let the guy in front have a bit more room [Music] could be like this is the boat just coming in over oh my God [Music] foreign [Music] thank you oh we’re in [Music] nice and cozy now there’s three of us here another boat coming down from torxy even though the Lock’s open we can’t get any further because there’s a swing bridge in front and the lock keeper part of their job is to open the swing Bridge so we can get further forward there’s some services and hopefully there’s some Moorings passed here fingers crossed as usual but wait this is not how this journey ends until now we’ve not been able to tell anyone what happened here [Music] we were blissfully unaware of what had just happened in the lock and the significance it would have on our lives our home and the rest of our journey we’ve no idea what if any damage has been done below the surface to the steel that’s what’s most worrying isn’t it that’s the most worrying because you can’t see anything what we need to do is get the boat lifted out of the water well we need to make sure that she’s okay we’ve already had enough sleepless nights thank you very much you’re nerves frayed there’s too much to unpack now or will be revealed in our next vlog

    1. I so enjoy your videos. Beautiful sights, nice soothing music and smiles all around. Jan with her pretty rosy cheeks and great narrative information for the area. So much for the artificial owls, didn't seem to keep the birds away, did they. lol I've noticed your followers are moving up and up. Congrats. We all so enjoy you two. Oh no. I couldn't tell what happened. Sure hope everything is ok? Worried now. Take care.

    2. Thanks for taking us along on this beautiful river cruise and I'm glad that you are both well. I hope that your boat/home is ok when you got to inspect it. Had the lock gate closed on the stern of your boat? Take care and all the best Stevie

    3. “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” couldn't agree more with Mole. Thanks, guys very enjoyable.

    4. You are a lovely couple, I always enjoy your cruises. Now you have me really worried about you, hope everything is well and smiles will soon be back. Take care 😀

    5. It is a perfect blend of your countries beautiful scenery and such lovely music. There are dozens of narrowboat vlogs, none does justice to the Englands waterways quite as well as yours. Thank you

    6. I do hope you are both okay. When we met you at Crick last year you inspired us to pursue our dream and hopefully by the end of this year our dream will be a reality when we take ownership of our own boat. Fingers crossed there is not much/any damage to your home 🥰

    7. No!! Cliffhanger! I don't think I can take the suspense! In the meantime, I will say you expertly handled the entrance to the Keadby Lock, Tony, and once again, I love the music you chose to accompany it. I'm eagerly awaiting the reveal in your next vlog, even though it seems it isn't good news. Until then, take care and have a good week!

    8. i have only just discovered your channel, and i must say you do play some stunning music, and having now watched the next vlog I'm glad your home though damaged is repairable, atrocious decision by the lock keeper.
