Bikes are nice. However music is so unrelated and stupid friend.
Downtube shifters JUST AREN'T THAT HARD!! I always shake my head at young hipsters who think there is some unknowable magic to making them work! Unlike integrated shifters (that won't shift properly unless all parts of your system are perfect) downtube friction shifters don't require perfect adjustment and/or compatibility of components to shift well.
