Finally back with another video after taking over a year and a half off. Over the years I have had some people ask me about what day to day life is like here in Guangzhou. In this video I will just take you through a typical weekday here in Guangzhou China. If you are planning on coming to China to teach English you may find this video interesting. I know there are some people that may be intimidated by leaving their home country to come to China to work but you will see in this video just how normal and similar life here is to back home.

hey guys Taylor here the fit xat finally back with another video it’s been 1 and a half years since I’ve made a video for this Channel and I’m finally ready to start doing them again a lot of things have changed uh things are pretty much back to normal here in China no more coid restrictions no more masks no more travel restrictions things are great back to the way they were before the pandemic um life is good I can’t complain I’m at a new job now I’ve got a new apartment now uh things are going well and I’m ready to start making videos again so in this video I’m going to be going through a typical day in the life of myself an English teacher here in guano over the years and recently I’ve had several people ask me what’s your day-to-day life like what’s it like here so I’m going to go through a typical day in my life tomorrow is Thursday random day of the week and I’m going to go through the day from when I get up to when I go to bed and everything in between all right so let’s get going here so I start my day off pretty early I get up around 4:00 a.m. maybe a little bit closer to 4:15 and the very first thing I do right away is I get some water in me got to get hydrated start the day off properly I never start with coffee then next I’ll check on the cats make sure they’re all right get them some food water make sure they’re they’re ready to start there day as well then get the dog ready to get outside she wants to go out she’s been waiting all night then we’ll get the dog out and take out the trash down to the basement that’s the very first thing get that trash in there this is my favorite time to walk the dog because after 4: 4:00 a.m. between 4:00 a.m. and 6: streets are quieter hardly anybody outside uh and the weather’s a little bit cooler right during the day it’s really really hot there’s just people everywhere it’s chaotic I prefer to walk the dog first thing in the morning get it done soon as I get back then I’ll get my coffee in I usually just do instant uh it’s just easier problem with instant it’s boiling hot when I make it but it hits the spot get on the sofa get that coffee down and check social media usually Instagram this kind of thing Western social media then I’ll pack my bag with everything I need for the day for work and for the gym and I’ll get everything in there the protein ready get everything in the bag then it’s time to head to the gym my Gym’s pretty close I’ll just hop on a shared bike downstairs and I’ll ride over takes me about that’s say about 10 to 15 minutes to get get to the gym streets are still quiet this is about about 5:45 a.m. the lights of gujo are not on [Music] yet my gym is great I’ve been going there for almost 4 years now it’s 24 hours it’s in a really nice office building it’s called Anytime Fitness and and uh yeah it’s just my favorite place to go got to get the workout in before I get to school also the best part about going at this time of the day is there’s hardly anybody there don’t have to wait for equipment don’t have to borrow anything from anybody don’t have to work in with anybody it’s great it’s my favorite time to go to the gym and it’s how I love to start the day looking jacked of course finish the workout about 7 :0 the sun is finally out now I got to hit the showers and get ready for work get the shower in I’m headed to work out the office building doors and I’m going to go find another shared bike and ride over to work it’s about a 10-minute cycle from the gym not very far there’s more people out in the streets now but I get to work get to the office just before 8:00 still boiling hot outside in October I usually got to change my shirt and I got 45 minutes to relax before my first class I’ll head to my first class at about 8:50 12:00 I’m done for lunch I’ve got a 2-hour lunch break that I can head out I can do anything I want I can leave the campus today I’m going to meet a friend nearby to have some lunch today we’re going to go to this restaurant it’s a maau restaurant so it’s Chinese food uh specifically from the maau area not bad not a bad restaurant um uh we got a couple of dishes it’s quite cheap all together uh for we had two dishes and a sandwich okay and all together it was about 86 Chinese R&B not bad food’s good it’s just quick and it’s cheap and it’s nearby after lunch got some time to walk around get some steps in my first class after lunch isn’t until 2:50 p.m. so I’ll head back to campus and get ready around 250 I’ll head to class and I have classes in the afternoon until about 4:00 then 5:00 we can leave the office and we are done for the day I’ll catch another shared bike and head home fortunately my school is really close to my house I can ride home in about 20 minutes or even take the metro and get home in about 10 minutes this is my building right there I live on the sixth floor I’m cooking tonight so I ordered some groceries for Del delivery on Mayan the wife and daughter are out having dinner with my in-laws I didn’t go so I am cooking for myself tonight made up some chicken and broccoli little bit of gravy on the side tried tested and true chicken and broccoli can’t go wrong with it get that protein in get that get those green vegetables in all right after dinner got to get that ice cold beer in oh yeah that hits the spot right there got to get that ice cold beer for the day right there 7 o’ the family’s coming home as Buffy’s got to do her homework she’s got a lot of homework every day Chinese homework math homework English homework art homework she’s got everything you can possibly imagine got to make sure she get the homework done that’s the next priority every night once she’s done the homework we got some time we can sit down we can watch TV and enjoy 1. Hello! I've been teaching English in Korea for a year now. I'm curious about the approximate monthly salary for native English teachers (from the US, UK, Australia, etc.) in China and whether accommodation expenses are covered.

    2. Hello! I have a Bachelor’s degree and will be getting my TEFL soon. I would love to move to China, but have become a bit hesitant because I’ve heard some other english teachers in China saying that the future for foreigners in this field isn’t looking very bright considering recent policy shifts regarding training centers, as well as the general sentiment not wanting foreigners there anymore. is there any truth to this?

    3. Hi, I have bachelor degree in Computer Science and currently doing TEFL course. I am also thinking of doing CELTA. Is it worth it? Would you be able to introduce me to any recruiter or school please? 🙏🏻 I have a wechat

    4. Could you please do a video on teacher salaries in China in 2024? Especially ESL ? There seems to be an extreme lack of you tube videos on this for some reason.

    5. The Concrete Confessional blog guy wrote a hilarious article called "I Was Simon Song" about teaching / doing higher ed consulting for the children of China's rich and famous. He talks about the ominous political changes, too, but in a pretty balanced way. Worth checking out, for sure
