Hello, dear friends of Provisualstock! We are still in the mountains! This is the third video of our series ‘Exploring Vallée de la Clarée,’ where I present our hikes in the Hautes Alpes. We are here near Laramon Lake at an altitude of 2385m. As you saw in our previous video, we arrived here starting our hike at Refuge Ricou at 2115m. In this video, we will continue our ascent to Snake Lake at 2448m altitude. Along this path, we will admire breathtaking views of the Ecrins Massif and its highest peaks. In the next video, we will ascend above Snake Lake, where we will discover a different world. These videos are recorded in real time, so the duration of the various stages of the ascents is represented by the total duration of the videos. We didn’t do an athletic hike. Instead, we walked very slowly, taking time to admire the surroundings and film a full high-altitude hike for the first time. I believe this hike, presented in three videos, has a medium level of difficulty for a normally trained person. In this part of the hike, we can’t see interesting landscapes in front of us. The slope is still steep, and we have work to do to reach the top and see what’s beyond. Instead, we will turn back quite often, because that is where the views to admire are. Behind the lake, we can see the distant Ecrins Massif. As we climb, the perspective changes, and we will be able to see the peaks more clearly. Today the weather is not ideal, but it’s not the worst either. When it’s fine, the lake and the mountains create beautiful images. You can see such images by visiting my Alps Images Gallery on my website. Lake Laramon in Vallée de la Clarée is a glacial lake situated in the French Alps. It was formed during the last glaciation period, which sculpted the landscape and left behind many such pristine mountain lakes in the region. It serves as a habitat for various alpine flora and fauna, contributing to the biodiversity of this protected natural area. If you click on the link in the upper right part of the video (on laptop or computer), you can see an image of high-altitude rosebays near the lake, captured during another climb here. We have to climb a bit more to be able to distinguish the peaks individually. If you have details about the flowers I discovered here, please write them in the comments, and I will include the information, along with a link to your channel or website, in a future revised version of the subtitles. Please share your experience about this hike in the comments if you’ve done it, or express your love for mountains. I’m happy to hear about your passion for the mountains! If you enjoy my videos, please consider liking them and subscribing or joining my channel. We are here in France, very close to Italy. Behind the peaks in front of us, Italy unfolds. In that direction lies another beautiful valley, La Vallée Étroite (Italian: Valle Stretta). La Vallée Étroite straddles the border, with its upper part in France and its lower part in Italy. Still not enough altitude here to zoom in on the peaks and see them clearly. In the right part, closest to us, lies the Massif du Queyrellin, which was visible from Refuge Ricou in our previous video. However, due to our lower altitude at that time, we couldn’t see beyond it. Now, being higher, we can see that behind it are the larger mountains of the Ecrins Massif. The Ecrins Massif, part of the Écrins National Park, one of the oldest national parks in France, features several peaks over 4000 meters and numerous glaciers. It is renowned among mountaineers and hikers alike, it attracts enthusiasts with its challenging terrain and breathtaking alpine scenery. The people in this area make significant efforts to preserve it as wild and natural as possible. In Névache, the main locality in this region, visitors are advised that certain signs of "civilization" are absent: ATMs, banks, pharmacies, doctors, and fuel stations. Wi-Fi availability is also very limited. These measures are in place to help preserve the wilderness and natural beauty of the area. The above services are available about 20 km away in Briançon. Additionally, access by car to refuges above 2000m is generally not permitted and often not feasible due to the rugged terrain. Let’s try to get a view of the peaks! The image is not very clear due to the clouds. On the right, you can see Barre des Écrins (4101m), the highest peak in the Ecrins Massif. In the center is Mont Pelvoux (3946m) and Glacier Blanc. We will have better views as we ascend higher. The best views will be in the next video, showcasing the highest part of this hike. We are very close to the next lake of our hike, the Snake Lake (Lac du Serpent). We can still see down the Laramon Lake, which is at an altitude of 2359m. And here again is an image of Massif du Queyrellin in front of Mont Pelvoux and Glacier Blanc. Here is the first view of the Snake Lake (Lac du Serpent) We are here at an altitude of 2448m The Snake Lake is another example of the glacial lakes found in Vallée de la Clarée The name "Snake Lake" comes from its serpentine shape, resembling a snake. This unique form is due to geological processes and glacial movements that carved the landscape, creating the lake’s winding appearance I am not in an optimal position to appreciate the overall shape of the lake. Perhaps this can be achieved using a drone for a bird’s eye view In the future, I may start using drones to capture aerial footage, which will be introduced in my videos This requires a significant upgrade of my equipment. Your support to my channel via watching the videos and joining as a member represents an important step toward achieving this upgrade I take this opportunity to sincerely thank those of you who already significantly support my channel. Your support is a tremendous motivation for me to continue developing and growing this channel In ideal weather conditions, the lake’s surface mirrors fantastic reflections of the surrounding mountains. We will now continue our ascent. We haven’t set a specific endpoint for our hike. Knowing the region’s highest peak is Pic du Lac Blanc at 2980m, which we reached a few years ago, this time, if conditions permit, we aim to reach it once more. You will see the conclusion of our hike in the next video, which will be posted next week. While ascending this part of the hike, we can once again enjoy views of the Ecrins Massif from higher vantage points. I’ll let you savor this final segment of the hike presented in this video and refrain from making further comments until the end. Don’t forget to join us next week to witness the final part of this stunning hike on our first day exploring Vallée de la Clarée in the Hautes Alpes of France. The best views of these peaks will be showcased in the next video during the final part of our hike. Just a reminder, from right to left: Barre des Écrins (4101m), Glacier Blanc, and Mont Pelvoux (3946m). Can you guess the origin of these torrents? Share your thoughts in the comments below! We’re nearing the end of today’s hike. Thank you for watching the video until the end. Join us next week as we explore what lies beyond, at altitudes above 2600-2700m in the final part of our journey. Until next time, take care and keep exploring!

    1. amazing connecting on Youtube. More than 2 years since I knew you, your channel and witnessed its growth. Great films of beautiful France. Thank you for always staying here🎉🎉🎉
