[Music] [Applause] [Music] hi guys we are in Sunny CLE folks today why are we in cleps cleps is rated as one of the worst Seaside towns in the UK but does it deserve that well we’re here to find out visit some of the attractions speak to some of the people and see whether or not it is actually as bad as people make out why don’t you en jooin us on this journey may we take a look at the sights and sounds of C folks who knows where this next adventure can take us remembered with honor and pride in near and far of lands they paid the Supreme sacrifice in dedication and Remembrance to the men and women of the British army who lost their lives while serving their country during conflicts worldwide it’s a nice memorial isn’t it Armed Forces badge up there this looks out over to the Sea I’m joined by Roger Roger what are you doing here today taking photographs of the ships you might not be able to see there’s a few ships out to see there’s a tanker there some other type of ship and another ship and you’ve lived here for a while you say that how long you say about 40 50 years you’re good enough to know about the area what’s CLE Forks like compared to what it would like in the 60s it’s completely different now nobody’s uh got the money to invest in it yeah I think that’s the same with a lot of places not just Seaside results the worst thing apparently happened in Cayo was he go back to the 1930s Bings wanted to build Bings here in SK SK oh okay but the council refused it that’s an interesting fact and that would have brought a massive booster not you’ve only got to look walk down between a station and what we call Wonderland right at the end of the wall everything beyond the station that way wants to be pulled down but no got the money to reinvest on it would it be a good place for families to visit no no okay it’s a typical how would you want to put it it’s a typical day Resort pop it down here for a day once the amusement arcade shut down where do the kids go yeah you can’t take them in the pubs no there’s nothing it’s I know a shame is it you’ve got the beach home or what used to be beach home further down there Council just don’t seem bother or hold the UK the council’s they say don’t have any money and then all of a sudden doing all these other different bits and pieces and not helping the places that they should be helping AR they I think that’s the same throughout the whole of the UK I did notice something about this place is it is quite flat isn’t it rather than some places really hilly in that if you’re I’m not great on heels and that AR rers it’s really good for people like that or your wheelchairs or scooters and people with prams and that it’s all PR pretty much flat all the ways down and even access to the beach is got you got ramp there as well thanks very much for and you really helped me all right can see what some of the visitors think yeah well see that’s what might get a few different comments I’d say the beach is quite nice actually if we had a bit of the good British weather that we don’t get really nice Beach nice and Sandy some shells not messy I mean I can’t see any mess there not bad little pier few arcades yeah I mean what else you want from a beach so we are now in CLE for’s peer gardens around here there’s a donkey one of the attractions of cks oh yeah it’s a donkey okay not quite what I was expecting yeah it’s a donkey concrete donkey a someone’s vandalized it a tribute to Dear Gladis nuttle in honor of her services to Cle Forks bringing happy memories and joy to many hearts with a traditional donkey rides this is in memory one of the founding people that put the donkeys on the beach they do traditional donkey rides one of the few places that do now hopefully we get to see them L bit later on on the beach hopefully the weather holds up next thing to find is a pelican I’m not holding much hope for this so just down this path there’s supposed to be a pelican that sits just by the Sea been told to look out for it it’s quite a big one so I have to be careful is that Pelican no I don’t think it is ah I think I found him pelican pelican waterfall this is called I mean yeah it’s a pelican but again not what I thought it was this is one of the of Cs it’s a pelican so this is dedicated to the RAF Royal Air Force at going down of the Sun and in the morning we will remember them what do we have there that’s a Vulcan and that is can’t remember what they called someone say whatever this is dedicated to Royal Air Force North Coast strip with an Airman looking out to sea possibly on his way to Germany so do who know what heading out to the Sea over there and who knows where we ever see UK again well that surprised me just thought i’ po by to the RF association club just to chat to some of the guys see what they think about cops and they said I can’t come in because I’m not a member even though I’m a veteran I said I was a veteran and I’m wearing a veteran badge and I’ve got the veteran ID card mod 100 the new one yeah I’m not allowed in there that’s a shame even if they said you have to pay two 2 membership just for a day i’ would have gone in there had a couple of drinks and chat with some of the old guys but that’s the way life goes hi guys I bring you to one of the greatest attractions where is it here you say well it’s right here it’s the sugget lane Railway Bridge and it actually is actually listed on trip advisor one of the places you need to visit Sur a place when to say your kids full of um thrill fun and excitement for all the family taken in the wonderful view of Cs to be fair it’s not a bad sea view on the other side if you’re into walking or cycling cleave F’s town is that way Grooms be is further that way yeah I mean I think my kids would be see whether or night it’s worth visiting for the day or weekend or what well we’ve got a caravan here and we’ve had it nine years and what do you think of C folks we love it we spend more time here than we do see I speak to the people that live here they say it’s gone downhill a bit but they love it the locals they love it I thought it gone up yeah no I don’t know that’s why I’m after people like you to say have you been to uh ridland to scar flamber with nothing yet I will do you miss that’s I will do maybe we need to go there say that when you’re s yeah I’ll cut that out don’t worry that God where should we visit in copson the boting lake I’ve been to the Boating Lake just down there I’ve seen the pedicon well you’ve seen it I’ve seen seen the donkey yeah I’ll I’ll go home then shall I the thing is they’re waiting for the leveling up funding yeah same as anything in UK when that’s all done yeah well what I would suggest is you continue down here and right to the end of the uh T area and then you go on to like sandunes and you can walk along the top of the sand Junes it’s great got fitties down there and then you got the fitties which is uh a oneoff I would say okay not today I’ve had enough Walking for today yeah are you touring the only from CLE FKS like know where the train station is yeah yeah that’s long enough no it long enough for me like you I’m unfit now no I’ll be going back got back every day dear I’ll be going to the signal box and that will probably be me this is more my type of place to go this is signal box in smallest Pub on the planet and that is it wow hello can I have uh San Miguel please was that that one yeah please oh no that’s it thank you thank you oh look at that now the signal box in as you might have guessed it’s an old signal box B from scun and brought here into CLE fors it measures just 2.4 M by 2.4 M which is 8T in old money I reckon I could uh touch both sides if I laid down I’m not going to give it a try though signal boxing great beer great service we got all these people around here and they can serve you in no time at all hey you’re local here yeah absolutely absolutely best place in town for a p this yeah I’ve been to a few pubs in CLE forks and uh yeah the locals are all all really taret really good no generally speaking it’s all right quite friendly yeah certainly on a Saturday afternoon when the sun’s out and everybody’s out a beer oh yeah what a nice place to be in you traveled all the way from skunthorp for this no no no I’ve traveled from Northampton even further than that love out I know and you’re not wearing Kinky Boots hey he knows he knows he’s clever see Kinky Boots yeah from quite educated in in the CLE area did you realize this is rated as one of the worst sees in the UK so we’ve heard yet yet Instagram has it as one of its top 10 photographic destinations on on its rankings it’s one of the prettiest ples you didn’t know that did you didn’t know that but it is good I do like the little walks you can do by the Sea front and that there loads of walks it gets bad pressed Grimsby itself is uh a struggling town which is fair to comment where due to the lock lack of the industry buts obviously at some point at some point CL grimby was like really thriven when all the fishing was done there and that yeah but as a town or as as a destination for a weekend I was in h ston last weekend this is as pretty as you can get it is I don’t understand why uh why it would get bad pressed it’s nice it’s not run down it’s not uh certainly the front area it’s got everything a modern seaside resort would ask for oh yeah restaurants uh you know all the generic like McDonald’s and all that but you get that but it’s it’s pretty you can’t say I mean you’ve if you’ve walked down here you can’t say it it doesn’t look like it’s not run down it’s it’s pretty and today we got the sun uh it’s a bit raining earlier but it’s it’s nice I like it here to be fair nice to get away for a couple of days in CL nice and relapsing place no it is good it is nice and uh you got um they still try to keep the um the local Vibe so to speak to it as well with the fishing chips and what have you and uh historically if you go down to the train station um it’s one of got it’s got one of the oldest uh actual train station buildings left since train stations were invented wow with the clock tower it’s very sad that it gets such bad press I’ve recently I’ve been up to Bridlington I’ve been up to scarra I’ve been down to H Stanton all down the east coast and they have nothing more than we have to offer and it’s easy to get to yeah yeah easy to get train station you got the buses going up and down the sea front you got everything you want Plus for the elderly people are not very able to walk up up and down Hills it’s all flat as well and cycling yeah we haven’t got a cliff is what you’re saying yeah yeah we have a road that called High Cliff but it’s not very high but it’s not really a cliff in terms of everything around it a high cliff it’s still quite really wow okay still quite Pleasant you won’t get uh there’s there’s not many nicer places you could I mean look I like it yeah I mean look it’s packed this is packed you won’t get a pub in Northampton as packed as this not by the Sea This Not By the Sea and you got to see as well and nice beer the beer is really nice the beer here’s the list of the parking charges one 1 hour 250 1 to 2 hours 350 2 to 4 hours 550 or all day fre quid free parking for disabled people and you can p on your phone you don’t need to change and the parking is right on the seafront literally see is there if you are coming to Cle fors then I highly recommend going to Valentinos it’s a really good Italian restaurant guys from Sicily he’s come over now in CLE fors food in there is amazing we a last night it was so good I went in back in there today the pizzas are absolutely amazing try the special whatever it is is top of the pizza list try that one you won’t go wrong and the owner is a real character if he’s watching this then I’ll be back in a few weeks for the AR Forces Day just before I leave I thought i’ give you a little room tour so check out it’s 11:00 it’s 5: to 11 now this is the bed double bed sockets close to the bed top that’s really good and your own individual light telephone which doesn’t really have a good sound on it you can call reception K with tea and coffee desk lamp does have a chair but you can’t fit your legs under there to do any work got some storage space oh my got a hair drer if only I would have known that in the bathroom sorry if you can hear the extractor fan I can’t isolate it yeah it’s all right the Taps are not very powerful that’s about maximum power you’ll get look shower not power shower bit does a job nice plent your towels toilet bin oh sh point you get an iron an ironing board and Hangers you can’t still nice little fan and that’s about it really I mean what else you want oh the bed bed’s really comfortable quite soft add some good sleep on here the only problem I would say is whenever anyone walks outside along the um Corridor is just there outside when they walk down there there’s four balls that are connected in this way you might not know how hous are built but when they walk along as they’re doing just on Queue the bed shakes and moves can feel like so’s someone in the room and it can wake you up it’s the only bad thing I’m in room 114 you get a key and that opens the front and back door this is how much I paid for it cuz I can’t remember now you can get it with breakfast but there’s not a lot of um choice on on breakfast it’s fryer or combination of things from a fryer it was all right but it took about 15 minutes to get served yesterday this morning I didn’t bother there is a bar inside nice bar got nice be in there and it is close to the seat front and there is parking at the back only about 10 spaces so if you’re parking in front of someone you might need to leave your key TV it’s Sky TV has all the free view but it doesn’t have the movies or Sports anything yeah it’s really good nice big TV you can’t last for more really we check it out now so I’ll catch you on the beach we just about to leave I watch having to leave it on such a sunny day it is still got a cold breeze coming in and you can’t see the sea it it’s a long way off it’s got to be a mile ATS but be careful when these Sands because I spoke to the rnli and they said that there are some uh quick sand on it and there’s some channels if you can see water comes in can cut people off in the middle is very Shadow lots of mud places to build s castles pick up your shells in that the me is busy today there’s loads of people it’s good to see in the UK so what do I think of CLE forson I did chat to quite a few people unfortunately not all of them W to on camera but from the majority of them they like the area it’s slightly run down I recommend probably a weekend or midweek break you struggled to fill the time for anything to do with the kids for a whole week you do have arcades that sort of thing you got the sand kids can run about all day there are Bal in couple of pars boating Lake loads of different little little things but I say two days probably the most you’re going to get on the whole it surprised me I thought it’s going to be a m it’s going to be your right horrible video but it’s surprised me I was shocked someone made nice little sand class there look oh got to chat to people that run the donkeys yesterday a nice bunch of people but they didn’t want to be on camera again yeah so chat to loads of people as you saw would I recommend CS yeah why not the people in CS are absolutely diamonds as we call them in the East End of London such nice people and people live here for a long time as in they they stay here they don’t move out or they come back to CS there is a local city called grimby there a bit of a dive I suppose
