how does the tour to France work well it’s 22 teams each with eight Riders racing across 21 stages and an overall distance of 2170 mi in 23 days the 2024 race will be its 111th running but it actually includes a few firsts the start known as the grand depart will be in Italy for the first time in Florence and while the race usually ends with the iconic time trial into Paris preparations for the 2024 Olympics mean that for one year only the race will end in nice the 21 stages include two time trials eight flat courses four hilly stages and seven mountains in the 2024 event which will reach an altitude of 2,82 M at any one time the leader is the rider who’s completed the course to that point in the least time and they wear the distinctive yellow Jersey as a reward holding on to it until they lose that lead and the winning Rider is simply whoever finishes all 21 stages the fastest

  1. "the race usually ends with the iconic time trial into Paris"

I don't think it's ever been a time trial into Paris. It's always been a normal road stage, with the first half of it being more-or-less a parade to celebrate the end. Sprint teams then take over once they get to the champs-elysees laps.
