  1. Anyone planning to move to Horsham, specifically the town centre & possibly the newly converted office block apartments, think very carefully

Be sure to visit the town centre on a number of occasions.

Whilst the street theatre in the CarFax might present the facade of a pleasant, relaxed market town, unfortunately Horsham’s dirty little secret is a deeply ingrained anti-social motoring problem that just won’t go away & Sussex police refuse to do anything about it.

Of course, any busy town centre will have its fair share of through-traffic but that’s not what we’re talking about here.

As planning permission is currently underway to convert the Royal Sun Alliance building into 146 apartments, we advise you check out the junction it faces onto.

16 lanes of town centre traffic cursed day & night by a group of repeat anti social motorists, who have been allowed to act with impunity by a disinterested Sussex Police.

When a member of the public reports an anti-social motorist (ASM) by phone to the police due to speeding the ASM’s see an increased police presence on the roads & send out a message in their closed social media group warning each other to leave the town centre.

They frequently head over to the Tescos car park at Broadbridge Heath to get hyped-up on energy drinks & to take photos of their cars, with the front number plates removed which stay removed when they head back onto the public roads.

Eventually, when the ASMs decide it’s safe to do so (it doesn’t take long) they return to the town centre & the same disgusting anti-social performance plays out again ad infinitum 🤢

You know the saying, right? Location, location, location!

Sussex police say it’s “too expensive” to police this persistent anti-social problem.

They say the public must gather photo, videos, license plates, driver description & send it to them & in their great wisdom they will decide if any “action” will be taken.

Just imagine, after a hard day’s work you’re ready to kick back for the evening. Then, it starts. That…noise. Do you really need a second voluntary job as a traffic cop? Is this really the improved quality of life you’ve been looking for?

Horsham District Council run the town like a business & are proud of it. But corporate practice in the public sector can only end one way: money comes first, people come second.

Oddly, both Sussex Police & Horsham District Council could easily take responsibility for this obnoxious problem by installing traffic cameras with in-built microphones on the junction in front of the RSA building. This would allow HDC & Sussex Police to identify & fine the perpetrators.

But that’s not good for business. And that’s why Sussex police avoid doing their job by not policing the persistent repeat ASMs with attenuated exhaust pipes from 6am until as late as 2am.

Your lovely new apartment might have good double glazing but whatever you do, don’t open the window & definitely don’t go for one of the more expensive apartments with a balcony, especially if you’ve got infant children.

That junction is a living hell but as Sussex police have said over the phone to local residents who the police have called-back the day after making a complaint about ASMs,

“The best thing you can do is move.”

    And,

“It’s always been like this & always will be.”

Welcome to Horsham ❤️ Money well spent?
