I hope you enjoy our bicycle touring documentary film and it makes you want to do one too! We practiced in England with a couple of longer day tours, approx. 50 miles or so in a weekend then just went for it. Thankfully our jobs allowed us a 4 month sabbatical, the perfect amount of time to cycle to the edge of Asia, Istanbul! For preparation and tips on what to take on a tour, check out our YouTube episodes Playlist for the ride – ‘Cycle tour London to Istanbul’. Thanks for watching!!

Seriously the most instructive and thorough travel vlog for cycling through Europe that I've ever seen! Can't wait to see part 2!
Instagram???
I have 11 days off in July im a 23 year old Triathelete and very excited for an ROAD cycle adventure but no idea where to go! 😀
would it be possible to cut this short as i only have 11 days off and go home early?
Great video! I'm doing the EV15 this year. Any tips for bike and gear security? How safe did you feel leaving your things? I'd like to do some non-bike tourist things while there but am worried about leaving my bike unattended for a couple hours at a time.
where exactly was this campsite in essex?
another great and informative vid mate, nice one. Ill be doing Eurovelo 15 in July when I set off on my big trek……doing Eurovelo 6 to.
Bloody brilliant, well done with the ride and a superbly edited blog. going to binge watch the next two.
That was so enjoyable, thanks, particularly because my wife and I did it in the opposite direction also summer 2018 so it brought back some very pleasant memories of familiar places. We may have passed you! We started from Andermatt on 25 June and reached Cologne about 16 days later.
Hi Mat & Harriet I just want to tell you that I have just found your video and really enjoyed watching it. Aged 72 its even got me thinking about riding the route as well. Although my wife probably won't let me as she is convinced I will be murdered if I venture too far from home. I am now looking forward to viewing your other two videos . Best wishes to you both Ted.
Very cool! Well done and thanks for sharing.
i am planning to do cycle tour of rhine soon. your video was good. when did you go? may june july? i am sure you said but i missed it. thanks. k
What a fantastic video! Thank you for sharing your adventure. All the information you provide is great too but done in a really informal manner.
Planning on a trip to Greece to visit my sister next summer. This video is very useful!
Have a great summer guys, looking forward to your next film! 👌👌👌
Thank you for sharing. This was very interesting. Liked the covered bridges and old towns the most. Greetings from Germany.
one should also be aware about the enormous history of those Rhine regions. the Rhine was the main border and conflict zone between the Roman Empire and the Germanic tribes (which also means between the romanized Celts (that culture came originally from the regions around Southern Germany/Austria (Hallstatt)) and the Germanic tribes. This critical border was also one of the main reasons why the Roman Empire changed from a one city centered Empire (Rome) to a more decentralized in four sectors with four capitals: Milano (Italy), Nicomedia (Izmit/today Turkey), Sirmium (Sremska Mitrovica, today Serbia) – and Augusta Treverorum = Trier/Germany. Those Rhine regions (especially at first today Netherland, Germany, Belgium) are also the main regions where the Germanic Frankish tribe confederation has formed and created the Frankish Empire. Franken in Bavaria, Frankfurt, France, Frankenstein etc. are all named after this tribe. Directly and indirectly all the countries around are created by this Frankish Empire (France was a direct offspring, 'Germany' became at first the next dominant Empire, the Holy Roman Empire) etc… Karl der Grosse (Charles the Great/Charlemagne), 'the father of Europe', who had his capital in Aachen/Germany initiated the 'Karolingian Renaissance'. This was not just an important step to a modern schoolsystem but there was the invention of Upper-Lower case letters and starting sentences with an upper case! The known Renaissance later was NOT just in Italy but started for many aspects already before that parts of (especially) Flamish Belgium, Netherlands and nearby regions of Germany – thanks to more liberal cities (same reasons why the Renaissance in Italy also started at first in such more liberal cities) …
I think the Eurovelo marketing department need to send you some free pastries for showcasing the route so well! Great to find this film on Youtube and looking forward to watching the next ones. Happy cycling!
Such a useful and inspiring video! Thank you for creating and sharing it.
Are the camp sites free to camp or does it cost?
When are you taking another trip.. This video is so Good we need another series. This is my third time watching and being jealous BTW.
Im doing the eurovelo routes this summer. Cycling from Denmark to croatia I wanna know, was it mostly bike friendly lanes ? It seems like it was from your videos.
Oh and btw… your videos have been the best cycle touring videos I've seen and has inspired me the most to do this
Love this! Thanks guys for documenting your trip. Only question is, dude your seat angle looks painful as f lol! Thanks again, ya’ll rock
Watching this for the second time. Great adventure. -H
Guys a really great trilogy of videos along the Rhine and Donau, thanks. Very informative and encouraging. Great presentation too.
Thank you for this video! I'm off in a few weeks riding London to Milan – only going lightweight with x2 10ltr rear panniers and 3.5l upfront. Hotels though, not camping.
It was really good to get an overview of the route! I need to knock out about 130km a day, its gonna be a challenge!
