who are the Canadians racing in the 2024 tour to France well good news for you fans in Canada we have a lot to celebrate I’ll highlight each of the Riders so you know who to cheer when the race starts from here in Florence Italy on June 29th this year is an important year following up two years of wins with Canadians Hugo H and fua in 2022 and Mike Woods going up the Pua dome in 20 23 to take the win ending a 25-year drought since Canadian Steve Bowers win in 1988 this year the 2024 T Frances three Canadians all three Canadians from Team Israel Premier Tech Guan bovan 35 years old from Montreal an OG team Israel Premier Tech member he’s super reliable a beast especially in the classics many of us will remember his heroic ride to 19 place in the 2021 per ret while wearing the Canadian national championship Jersey it’s the same in the tur of France where he’s written in support of his teammates in 2022 he helped Australian Simon Clark win the rubay stage and then turned his attention to Hugo H getting his stage win in F and in 2023 he did the same for fellow Canadian Mike Woods setting him up for that Victory up at the top of the Pua Dome Hugo H only has one pro win to his his name but it’s a big one coming in the tur of France in 2022 after several attempts also in previous editions in 2022 he made it work out dropped his last Escape rival American Mato Jorgenson and with the help of fellow Canadian Mike Woods he was able to ride free there at the foothills of the Pyrenees in foa an emotional victory for Hugo dedicating it to his brother who had died years previously and none of us will soon forget that emotional victory that next year he made sure he was able to set up Mike Woods for his stage win at the P Dome hul now 33 years old is set to ride his sixth tur of France in a row this 2024 Michael Woods after a stage win last year is setting out the 2024 tur of France but that paves the way for some fresh young faces and none of them more Dynamic than Derek G from Ottawa last year in his first year as a professional riding his first grand tour in the jir Italia on four occasions he finished second in stages that gave him the confidence he needed going into 2024 knowing he could do something big and he did that in the Criterium D Doan a attacking surging free for victory not only attacking from your normal Riders but attacking away from the top stars to pick up the stage win and the yellow Jersey at the Criterium D Doan a the team supported him all week finally he finishes third overall behind primis RIT and American Mattel Jorgenson in the general classification the team truly wants to put G in the GC at the tour to France they’ll help him in the overall classification also for his goal of a stage win will it be three victories in a row for the Canadians I don’t know but we have a lot to cheer on with hul bovon and G and the 2024 tur of France
