Neptune’s Staircase is a series of eight locks on the Caledonian Canal in Banavie, near Fort William, Scotland

It’s the longest staircase lock in Britain, raising the canal by 19m (62ft) over a quarter of a mile. Built by Thomas Telford between 1803 and 1822, it’s a marvel of engineering and a popular spot for watching boats navigate the locks.
