this week on emm we’re talking about the E uro World Cup at Leah gang and we’ve got a met helmet to give away and many many Bikes let’s do it emn [Music] show yes welcome to the emn show got lots to get through this week can I start with the MTB Trail Alliance love this so uh great group of people uh link to their website we’ll put in the description uh but this is a great charity so the first thing I want to say is you can support this charity by going to their GoFundMe page so head over to their website after you’ve watched this show of course and uh head over to it’s all about helping make making Trails easier and looking after them Trail advocacy um they’re looking after over a hundred Trails across the UK it’s really great got some great people involved man on Carpenter World downhill Champion yeah she’s all part of it um and some a great group of people it’s got a really lovely website actually really really great information on it quite inspiring uh and if you’re someone out there an aspiring Trail Builder this is the place for you so that’s a really great thing that I’ve seen this week love it very good we like that a lot other stuff that we’ve got coming up oh actually we talking about now yeah um well I tell you what I’ve been watching and I loved but I didn’t think there was enough of it was the Ed racing at Le so so good so it was awesome yeah I mean I I really thought that the power stages are starting to come into their own yeah completely I really love them we were talking about it on the dirt shed show how how how cool they are unbelievably Ryan Gilchrist he’s he had an awful event an absolutely awful event and it’s absolutely destroyed his uh commanding sort of position in the series this far right um so he ended up in a terrible position Martin ma he did the EDR the day before not came in to did the edre smashed it I mean he nearly had a perfect day and what does that say I mean it’s amazing that we’ve got some of like the biggest athletes yeah and we say biggest athletes with Martin ma like he’s won a World Cup he almost won a World Champs in downhill he’s won in joros and now he’s gone you know what I’m going to switch categories because I feel like that’s the direction he looked real good looked real good and I think maybe racecraft really helped him there you know put in a day together um I mean over the EDR e you know two days event he he really put it together and smashed it and and made it all look uh maybe a bit too easy but it’s really rattled the championship Jose boures is leading now because he had a great day finished fifth um on the day which was great um and that meant that he’s now leading the championship wow over in the women’s not quite as EXC in terms of movement in the scores Flo espineira is absolutely smashing it um she’s just a joy to watch especially on those power stages really amazing she’s got some skills big skills got some skills awesome for Ora to be fair yes like really impressive they’ve gone all in for E team but we’ve got we’ve got some big battles going on there um so it’s going to be fun to keep watching I just wish I wish it would get a slightly bigger spot in the highlights you know I really feel like there’s some great race happening in Ed ebite racing is a thing I think the power stages and that shape of event that’s you know really leaning into the climbing skill part of it is important yeah agreed it makes it all R I think it’s got something it’s got something unique about it yeah I’m a fan we’re fans are you fans I think we’re assuming you are fans but yeah comments we love reading your comments stick them in the comments below it’s just super important to us so yeah get those in um yeah fans of ebikes so let’s look at some ebikes right cuz we’ve got some this week um have you seen this bike from Lan Lacy in China I’ve missed Lan Lacy okay it’s uh it’s the gt800 um it’s kind of agricultural looking I’d say um you need to check if this one is a bike that you can ride in your country legally okay cuz it’s pedist and throttle and let’s just say it’s a bit spicy on the old speed limit right um so you can definitely have some fun with it uh but Fang motor they good they are it’s great great Fang motor 120 newm yeah 500 watt mid motor it’s great it’s a really good bike and what I think uh you can see about this bike is although it’s a little bit cheap and cheer for in terms of all the lugs and things like that the the welding on it in terms of like let’s say the hydro forming of the tubes is sort of like basic it’s looking quite basic it looks like the bike could do a lot and at a price of $3,699 I mean you’re looking at like sort of £3,000 it’s pretty good money yeah that’s pretty good money yeah that’s real good money Lany a brand we’ll all be talking about well no but I think this is what’s really exciting is that there’s so many Brands out there now and so many new brands coming into the market because it is this growing Market that we’re getting some really interesting bikes I mean I asked that question again this is for one for you in the comments um is a lot of Brands good for it I don’t know I don’t know I feel like the whole industry mountain biking ebiking whatever more I feel like maybe Le I don’t want less Brands cuz that means less people in those Brands but I my feeling is there’s a lot of bikes out there and they’re all trying yeah I don’t know I don’t know I think I feel for me I think it’s like a it’s it makes them competitive it’s a bit like well for me looking it in I guess cuz I was like a kid in the ’90s uh at The Innovation that we had in mountain biking in the ’90s in terms of like you’d see the bikes at the start of the Season like suspension bikes more downhill really than cross country but youd see a downhill bike at the start of the season and then the race would be on a different bike like you know that development and it feels like we’re in a similar place in terms of newer Brands coming in new bikes coming out lots and lots of development so it feels really exciting in terms of some of the price points are going to change and that’s good I mean the bikes the bikes are getting cheaper there’s always going to be a bit of competitiveness there so that is that is a good thing um great news from SRAM uh their powertrain range extender is now available so you can have a a new little range extender is very very neat look at this look at that nice 250w battery um that you can just add on to your only 1.5 kgs yeah lovely add on to your existing Eagle powertrain uh system uh 449 $549 uh like you said one and2 kilos pretty light um and it will work compatible with nuk proof transition gas gas propane barrier bikes um most powertrain bikes basically so that’s a great little addition to the Sham setup what’s really cool about it is that basically it’s got a cage that mounts to where your bottle cage would go you can clip in the battery you can uncp and then they’ve got like a carriage kit where you can clip on a regular bow yeah yes so if you’re not using it all the time you can still use your bottle cage so you’re not giving up that space whereas some others you have to like have the fa of taking it all off but yeah clever system yeah but that bottle will not charge your bike no it will charge you it will charge you with isotonic power and electrolytes right giveaway time love love give what have we got love this we have got three of the Met parachute two in one helmets essentially two in one but give does the come off no well yeah it does but what you can do is clip the front end off so you’ve got a full face or an open face helmet us this amazing MCR system um it’s really cool lid uh and like I say bit like two in one really got three of them to give away uh if you want to win one then head down to the description of the video there’s a link there going win yourself a helmet nice I mean that’s great that’s I mean we technically could take this one oh all right maybe maybe I should actually maybe you should yeah I’ll just take this one so yeah if you want to win a helmet head on down to that comp that should be fun and we’ll let you know in a few weeks who wins that uh next up we’re going to take a look at some cool places see where ebikes have been taken you this month this first one from Lynch is oh pretty who look at that pretty spot stations there on the rocks is it that’s awesome look you with the technical terms love a bit of striation yeah check out my guns apparently that’s when you was a glassier and they were grinding across it which is causing those uh that that terraformer there you go useless fact possibly not true if you did do geology at school and at you know further education you know who would know the answer to that man on Carpenter she would cuz that’s what she does yeah rocks and stuff yeah yeah technical term uh really really cool place well done Lynch 2072 uh next up from P1 K this is very cool place oh yes that looks like the peak of a ride just like whack there you go that’s I did it that is awesome oh yeah where is that love Hill yeah CLE Hill looking over gchq possibly is in that picture yeah it’s very very cool yeah super cool this next one oh little dog oh wow and look at that Coastline where is that tell me about this Coastline uh Owen and I’m going to try and find the name of this dog I think we’re in Scotland it’s sad that’s sad oh sad the dog yeah sad in Scotland my son is currently on the aisle of Tyree so he’s probably up there yeah apparently the Hawaii of the north for apparently it looks he says it looks like Hawaii but I tell you what it’s not the same temperature no I feel like probably in a 8 mil 10 mil 20 mil wet suit up there yeah he is going in the water yeah he’s surfing his way around there yeah having a good time um amazing yeah some very cool places keep them coming in uh description down below you can get involved with the show with the uploader um you get involved with the bike Vault cool places uh and all the other options we look at all that stuff we don’t get a chance to feature all of it in the show we we look at what you’re doing we look at what you’re saying in the comments down below so do get involved with the show that is what it’s all about after all [Music] right let’s get some feedback I said get involved yes people have uh yeah so I went on my my first ebike trip you did yeah with didn’t yeah God you had a good time it was a hoot what yeah no it was out I loved it it was great who says that who says that a hoot yeah it was Mike hoot no oh anyway carry on carry on I well I enjoyed myself I found it very uh very interesting great to catch up with Jonesy uh great to to ride ebikes and realize how awesome they are for getting out and about and seeing lots of big terrain actually quite quickly made it definitely looked a lot of fun um Isaac HED um he basically said great video love to see the more budget end of the bikes um but he did ask a question about the class one two and three that are mentioned in the video yes um and then he went and had a look on the website um uh for the vetrix and it that he would couldn’t quite work out which one it was but it’s actually quite simple um I mean it gets more technical as you go on but uh grade one is basically pedist yep um grade two is pedist and throttle but speed Limited in the UK that’s 15.5 miles per hour okay yeah 0.5 is important and three would be uh pedist or just frott FR Frist and pedal but basically No Limits right so off-road motorcycle type area but also off-road mountain bike Ty yeah that’s essentially the classes that you’ve got to think about I feel like there’s also the speed ped one which is is a newer standard for it’s more for like Urban bikes but it is ebikes in Europe so that’s another one where they they’re checked up to I think 45k yeah so that I mean technically come under class three yeah but there are there are other technicalities in those classes that go go on from there but um basically that’s where you’re at to answer your question simply um tell you what uh on the last show um someone who is it Joe Hooper he says stop calling them acoustic bikes Owen defend us uh yeah I’ve had this sort of comment before and uh I think I think someone actually sort of also commented it’s really great to look at all the comments and people sort of like interacting in general it’s all a really nice place I think the the kind of the the comment the statement of don’t read the comments not true with our space it’s a really nice Community we really like it and somebody did say Well when the electric guitar came out like before then guitars were just guitars but then as soon as the electric guitar came out they became acoustic so that’s my defense it’s a good defense it’s a good defense um I think Joe’s making the point it’s so simple emtbs mtbs that makes sense we don’t need to call them acoustic and well I guess what would you say they are if they’re not acoustic you’d call them electric bike electric bikes eike EB you call him an ebike I was going with the analog bit I was going then then I was thinking controllers are analog versus digital oh yeah I was all over the place no that’s a no like it you’re right Joe we’re we’re confusing that i’ I’ve gone around the roundabout Joe’s right I’m MTB MTB I’m with you I’m not with Joe I still like the AC stick and ebike so yeah are you still talking next up right same video uh this is from thoughts of Moog and he says a flip chip um a bit of a gimmick uh I just don’t feel the 5 mm extra BB height or 8 mil more on the Chain stay what do you think about adjustable bikes Owen I I think I might disagree with this right well okay uh well prep yourself cuz I like adjustable bikes I think you’ll be surprised I like oh no what am I saying no I agree I don’t agree with this Sor I’m I think you’d be surprised if you changed 8 mil on chain State and you did like you did the ride you played around even in the car park and you did it again with an 8 mil longer chain day you’d feel the difference yeah I’ll tell I’ll tell you where you’d feel it okay the bottom bracket one okay you you might struggle to find all the places to fill that easily um but it would make a difference right 5 mil does sound much but it would make a difference 8 mil on the chains day is a lot yeah that’s actually a lot and and where you’ll notice that is on a climb get on a climb with a longer chain stay on a climb you are going to have more grip more stability and that’s where you’ll really noce sit down on your ebike sit into the power pedal away a longer chain state is going to make a difference so that would be my defense of that and and more stability when you’re going faster I think it is you do notice it so back to that Marin I quite liked it I quite like having the adjustment yeah so I disagree agree sorry uh thoughts of Mo but thanks for the comment it always gets us thinking and you know like the acoustic thing sometimes you change our mind we’re both on that now it’s total nonsense what no right time for some tech for Steve what’s he talking about uh eight pins that’s all he’s told us in like Garder I think it’s a seat post let’s uh let’s be proved wrong hi guys my name is Andreas I’m from eight pins founder and CEO and I want to introduce to the eight pins dropper seat post our concept is it’s an integrated system so usually your dropper seos has a tube in a tube in a tube Ain just has one tube and this tube goes uh uses the frame as a housing so we have here a bushing system we have a wiper here is the postpin axle which mounts the seat post into the frame uh and you can see it’s just one tube which goes up in down it’s mechanically locked so uh when you push the remote for sure you can drop the seat post it’s easy and uh the good thing is uh it’s very adjustable so usually you have a seat cam to adjust your seat post we have this small lever here so you can open the lever adjust the seat post you just have to push remote remote as well so here in the next hit is adjusted then you lock the seat post here on this lever again and then you can easily drop it and it’s also easy and uh simple to uh do maintenance so you can uh open the lever here uh push the remote here I have the seat post in my hand now we can do uh maintenance here on the ceiling there is a bushing system in there so we have usual Teflon wipers uh Teflon bushings which are also used in suspension forks so it’s easily to maintain uh and if you watch inside the tube there are ratchets and we lock the seat post mechanically so you don’t rely on a hydraulic system uh which U has a a wiper ceiling which wears out and uh leaves um uh air into the air uh oil chamber which uh usually you know uh brings the p in a situation where it starts to um uh damp or goes down when you sit on it so uh the system is really really reliable and the mechanical Locking System makes it uh yeah very reliable and sustainable and you can uh buy all parts the system is fully made in Europe so we are from Austria we machine many parts in Hungary a lot of parts in our own Factory in Austria uh and it’s a real nice product and enjoy it see it try it in bikes like uh lightville Road Bulls uh and ghost [Music] thank you Steve oh I miss him don’t you yeah I do oh I can’t wait to see him again what a laugh what a a hoot yeah um thanks for that Steve right let’s take a look at the bike Vault this week oh yes we’ve got some great bikes really like the bike Vault yes uh this is from McFly uh now we’re going to have to give this nice or super nice it’s you know great looking bike love the color like the match can’t can’t wrong with a can’t wrong with a Leo really not really nice or super nice I feel like I should be honking a horn uh I’m going to say super nice because you’ve got the jeel mountains in the background like it oh there we go right it nice yeah next up from Tom uh this is his Canyon neuron on cf8 it’s nice that’s lovely yeah it’s real good I’ve really come around to town walls I hate myself for it I hated at the start like yeah damnn it SP them on my Bo head o yeah but I think that Canyon is a super nice love it really cool well also really nice that he says that thanks for Steve’s video on help him decide to buy it I think that’s great that is great that’s great news that’s what we want to hear exactly what’s this one uh this is from zon I’m sorry if I’m butchering your name I need to practice more uh but this is his Rocky Mountain I’ve got to remember I know it’s the power one oh Shivers it should in Instinct power play Instinct power play they just look R they were really early to the market with a kind of like well not kind of high pivot with an idler with their own motor um yeah it’s all happening on that bike is it love the colorway to yeah and popping with the green in the back tall or classic sidewalls again yeah a theme super nice love it um should we have a look at some of the social activity we this week we love that yeah [Music] first up this is some sick skills from Alex Medina MTB look at him dropping into here front wheel control is off the hook W that’s amazing I love it love that wow very nice very nice um gee okay I need to step up who’s his next man Fishback yes who I I feel like was he raced downhill I’m pretty sure he raced four cross as well so really accomplished Rider who’s now moved to Ed as well and he looks like he is Trucking through abely smashing it on the guas yeah look at that suspension on those routs that is just I’ve got quite a lot of love for the old factory looking gas gas cool friend’s got one with the Plastics on I think it looks better with a Plastics on yeah I love the Plastics and who doesn’t want Plastics yeah no I know and also it’s like that they are really practical it’s very very nice yeah we like that um lastly in getting social this week better Jack Carvey 10 times World trials champ Champion 10 times 10 times wow um he and he is out on his orange he’s got a little bit of an MTB deal going with orange bikes um great great to see they found a way forward which is fantastic uh and he’s out on his orange doing a little bit of schwall be tire testing great bit riding he’s got some skills what’s amazing is the that first intro where it kind of looks you like that’s that’s right it’s just a bit of a Switchback you look at the angle of the trees then you realize how yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah he’s a great and a friend of the channels just like you just like you guys there home yeah right now uh we’ve had a great show we really want to hear from you in the comments down below of course get involved in that competition to win that their helmet well not this one I I’m going to steal this one yours will be black too which is maybe well it goes with everything goes with all the bikes so yeah stealth stealth look good luck in that um get involved in all the other ways with the uploader and uh we will see you next week goodbye

    1. If we want to be more accurate, mechanical bikes makes sense. Sure e-bikes have a mechanical aspect to them but are more accurately electro-mechanical bikes. Good luck trying to make it stick, and for casual conversations going smoothly using that.

    2. You really need to just let the other person speak when they are speaking. Not ask them a question then immediately start answering the question yourself. And then when they are speaking constantly interject. Drives me mad. Just constantly speaking over before the other guy can even finish what they are saying. This is not the first time I've seen this on this channel. There's no point in having a cohost if you'd rather not have them talk. This is really a general problem of the whole cast. Just no discipline or grace with letting people speak.

What I'm generally referring to is speaking over people in sentences but also affirmations aren't good even for normal conversation, "mhmm, yeahh", but especially when you are creating media.

    3. I built a M510 bafang motor and Carbon frame weighs in at 23.8kg including 840wh battery and rides great defo on a par with my Orbea Wild FS

    4. AHH, acoustic relates to sound, in fact ebikes are way more noisy than traditional bikes therefore it's the ebike that should be called the acoustic bike! 😂🙄

    5. There are to many brand sout there. And, a lot of them making the same stuff as other companies. I like companies that have something different to bring to the table.

    6. I like MTB and EMTB.

Sometimes names just stick. Back in the 80s there was some effort to use “ATB” (all-terrain bike) instead of MTB (mountain bike). ATB seems more logical (we don’t only ride in the mountains), but MTB won out.

      Hey, EATB anyone?;)

    7. How is the flip chip a gimmick?? IT changes how the bike rides. For instants on a Reign E while proper pedal position helps to reduce pedal strike so will putting it in high position. Also there is no denying the bike will handle different depending weather your in high or low position.

    8. That sram range extender most likely will not fit Nukeproof Megawatt Carbon. There is barely any space for water bottle as is. There is no way the extender fits without interfering with the rear shock.

    9. Seeing that nearly ALL ebike motor/electronic providers (bosch, fazua, tq, shimano, yamaha, brose, etc.) all unanimously refuse to sell to consumers the parts needed to keep a bike going, one is almost forced to confine one's purchase to the biggest companies making these bikes because of worry over somehow obtaining a new non-serviceable motor or electronics assembly (I have no idea how the one ebike motor repair outfit in the UK gets their parts kits to repair the few motors they can actually repair). The right to repair is a real problem nobody seems to want to address other than a passing comment. In my youth, I worked in a motorcycle parts dept., and every part on every bike had a part number, and you could order it and install it yourself. Why do we continue to avoid demanding this same access to repair our devices as consumers. I'm going to buy my first serious e-mtb this year, and the 'which motor should I pick because it's eventually going to fail' question is really discouraging me. I've read only the Polini motor system is completely user serviceable, but their distribution in the market is very limited. I wish EMBN would dive into the world of how riders can keep these complicated and expensive machines going years after purchase (or are these machines essentially 'disposable'?), as this is a huge concern for many owners and folks looking to get their first serious e-mtb. cheers!

    10. Fairly new to EMTB and honestly a year ago I was making fun of people on E-Bikes but now I've got a big ole belly full of crow. That's ok though, I love my Orbea Rise. LOVE IT! Now when I see a challenging hill climb, I'm excited. I look at it and look for the best line to power up it. It's made MTB allot more fun for an older guy with a pulmonary disease and that's what it's all about. Getting out and having fun, no matter what you are riding.

    11. As usual some great news and information. And thanks for the chance to win a new helmet, last week was new bike day and now a new helmet day was the top to combine with the new bike. Nice week end

    12. If you cant tell the difference between 5mm on the bottom bracket and 8mm on the chain stay and when you need to use either there's a good reason…… Your not a rider, you just cycle!
