    While the bicycle was initially introduced as a means of transportation and recreational activity, it didn’t take long before it evolved into a variety of competitive sports. Road Cycling is one of the three disciplines featured within Cycling as a Sport that will be a part of Baku 2015 Games. There will be no shortage of riveting moments as more than 300 athletes pedal for the finish line. Ranking points will be available in Road Cycling for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

    The Road Cycling competition begins on 18 June and finishes on 21 June 2015, and will feature 146 men and 75 women. The Road Race for both women and men will be held around the city centre circuit of Baku, with Freedom Square featuring as the start and finish area. The venue for the Time Trial event will be Bilgah Beach, which will also host the Triathlon competition.
