I will say that lighter colored tape will look a dirty mess after only a dozen rides or so…but black tape can look great for years. The tape is one thing on a bike that can’t be easily cleaned.

Bar tapes are one of the cheapest ways to individualize a bike. That tan looks good, but it might get dirty pretty quickly. I prefer something that pops/contrasts.

If it isn’t an exact match, it will look pretty obvious. I wouldn’t chance it.
I usually don’t like the bar tape matching the bike color and I would definitely pass on the idea with a light color like that. It will look dirty quickly and that’s a big fat no from me. I like the cockpit all black on my bike, personally.

Try it, it’s only bar tape

No. It should contrast. Unless your bike is black, then matching is fine.Â

You do you. I would look for a contrast. Quality bar tapes can be cleaned well, get a small brush and soap. Nasty dirt needs a tiny bit of washing powder. It’s one more cleaning job though.

It certainly shouldn’t clash.
