I have an appointment with Mt Ventoux in early October as part of my charity challenge cycling across France from St Malo to Nice.
In late May I injured my back with nerve damage putting me in excruciating pain for weeks.
The whole plan was doomed, even once I had the worst pain under control I had deferred pain down my leg. It has gradually got better to the point that I can walk around for a good while albeit with a permanent numb feeling in my calf and foot.
BUT I CAN STILL CYCLE !! Due to the lack of load through the spine, but I’m unsure how that would stand the test of serious climbing and effort on the bike. I’m in the French Alps on a family holiday which is something else I thought wouldn’t happen and I’m about to put this to the test.
This challenge is to raise funds for Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice and if after watching the video you feel you might be able to help, here is the link.

Congratulations on the recovery. Beyond the physical pain, and prognosis it is truly all in the mind. Fingers crossed.
Great to see you back on the bike with very little problems. I know how much this means to you and I’m sure you will smash it. Your determination is just inspiring. Keep up the great work. 👍💪🏻👏
