British Heart Foundation 2024 London to Brighton Bike Ride at Carshalton Ponds

well it’s Sunday the 16th of May Father’s Day I’m in um car shorton Village on the annual British Heart Foundation London well name London a bright and cycle ride it’s a an event held each year for decades to support the British Art Foundation I come here every single year to watch the cyclist go by it’s quite a popular event from my favorite spot car short and ponds and then this is basically the uh the first slot which leave clap and common heading from there to Brighton through car Village [Music] follow this slot [Music] around as they turn right down towards pound Street and pass the Greyhound Pub often find it interesting watching all the different types of Cycles which go back from the usual um racing sty bikes down to um people on skateboards and roller skates that’s a variety you get quite enjoyable to watch it’s lovely part of South Lon let’s give you a panoramic of the ponds starting off from the [Music] church she WEA is actually good to day compared to yesterday absolutely tipping down it rain for a good chunk of the day that’s car shorton ponds for you I’ll come back when it starts to get a bit [Music] busier we about an hour down the road now you’ll seeing um since the beginning of the ride and now begin to see some more increase in tra cycle traffic so far I’ve seen a couple of bromton and a guy pyed in on a rally Chopper and a handful of the bikes in the mix of the majority of the bikes come back later that’s got be the best bike going through so far tell about the color of it though ice cream cargo [Laughter] bik looks like we got a first recumbent tandem recumbent coming through as well we’re getting some interesting bikes come through now got a few tandems come through [Music] [Applause] [Music] out for ride out it’s now starting to get much more busier [Music] [Music] [Music] down that way [Music] that’s the second rally Chopper going boy that’s a new one we’re a few hours down the road and it’s still com in strong it’s the only time in the year when car Village becomes cycle Centric and not car Centric they had a good range of bikes coming through as well and all the cyclist this year seem to be pretty prepared for the ride haven’t seen anyone on roller skates yet or a Boris bike got a good crowd of people on the bridge now have a quick look down there got quite a few Spectators thank you another bike J loads of people turned up to watch it I see I that safety St is brilliant it’s doing a really good job this year they really started to come through now I think over a course in the morning you’ve had a four or 5,000 cyclist go through car shorten so far slow down please and they’re still coming [Music] strong nothing nothing [Music] [Music] this one of many tandems that should been on the right today I’ve never got a camera ready to catch some of the really good bikes oh look as a clueless C who’s got it wrong with his car that road going down towards the Greyhound is closed but clearly says road closer car drivers getting confused a very first angry [Music] driver seems to be upset about something [Music] he’s behaving if he God’s gift to the road she nuts go yes shame on you mate they said it was going to rain that they we’ve had a mixed batch of weather this weekend and it’s held off reasonably well this morning but we got a really first bit of grayness coming through now oh well Happy Days kind have it great all the time first recumbent going [Music] [Applause] through o car shorten in the rain hope this passes I think it’s the first time I’ve ever had to get me umbrella out this is just a passing shower it’ll be dry in about another 10 minutes time one oops [Music] I know one thing I’m glad I brought this umbrella it’s really jacking it down now [Applause] [Applause] me doing is to keep the own bike [Applause] dry there is some clear sky over so it should stop [Music] soon they did predict this for fandy it be around 8:00 in the morning but it’s about 2 hours shy that now [Music] going to do myself a good breakfast when I get home I’ll be brunch by then [Applause] oh hey seems to be stopping I spoke too soon [Music] is the sun going to come out [Applause] I think I can afford to take the umbrella down now have a quick scan over [Applause] there I think it’s safe to take the umbrella down he stopped Hill I I feel sorry for that [Music] lot I feel that’s the last of the rain today all right mate he’s enjoying himself we now been here for just over 4 hours and they’re still coming through [Applause] I missed that one there’s lady on a tandem over there I don’t know if you can see it on the camera but she’s got a um Skeleton on the back of it excellent magic that’s probably one of the best tracks going but I don’t know miles down the road out the Gard about 4 and a half hours into it and they’re still coming haven’t seen as many um what I like about this London to Brighton in the past was the amount of novelty cyclists used to get going for it it don’t seem to see as many of them now and a variety of novelty bikes and groups which basically doing it for a laugh it’s changed over the [Music] years they just keep coming I’s around half past 10 now Marsh I wanted to start it’s coming up to 11:00 and I think the majority of them have gone by now so I’m going to call it a day like all the previous years I fully enjoyed myself watching the uh London the Brighton British Art Foundation cycle ride go through seeing a variety of bikes and um hope it continues hope you’re about make in next year if you found me on uh YouTube and you one of the
