good morning welcome back to the channel Liv in tral cycling um today is bike ride day um he said with a smile on his face um in the two weeks that we’re staying on the island I’d only planned to do um a total of four bike rides as I mentioned in an earlier video this isn’t a cycling holiday although I am trying to do some cycling whilst I’m here but today um is a bonus ride uh uh that I’m getting to do early cuz we’re not hiring the bikes of officially the 4-day period until uh next week the weather is much much better this morning it was a little bit overcast yesterday and today’s ride is 63 1/2 Mile and uh 2,000t of climbing so a lower respectable distance uh quite flat I’m leaving the hotel for 9:00 to walk down to the nearby bike shop to pick up the bike that I’ve hired um and then as for the route uh it’s leaving palmanova um off down towards Palmer through Palmer along the coast which is a lovely cycle path uh away from the uh very busy traffic going through the city um it goes down towards uh I always get this wrong uh camper steer yeah not Camp before that’s in the north isn’t it campus de and then it’s a loop out towards uh I’ll see if I can pronounce this correctly uh yuck mayor as opposed to look major if it’s push May yuk Mayo I think it’s pronounced and then it’s a loop and then it’s back pretty much along the same way so I’m expecting to be out about 4 hours 63 M but I’m really looking forward to it so uh time to VOS [Music] w [Music] so we’ve escaped the hotel and we’re out as you can see we’re just uh alongside the beach to the right hand side in palmanova leaving the town heading for a road towards Palmer City temperature currently 27.1 de not even 10:00 in the morning little bit of a breeze which is very welcome I’m hoping that the worst that can go wrong today today is that I’ll possibly get lost palmanova is behind us now and I think we’re heading up towards somewhere called portals new but I’ve turned the video camera on just to point out the cycle path to my right hand side see where this gentleman is walking towards us and throughout this area you’ll see many of these popular with Runners see and if you decide to use them cyclists can use them keeps you away from the nasty [Music] traffic the nice thing about the cycopath is that it’s away from the Cars uh the road to my left of course as you can see the path is very very busy with Walkers and uh other cyclists uh mainly lure cyclists you know riding sit up and bag bikes and eat bikes and they ride at uh quite a leisurely Pace there’s nothing wrong with that don’t get me wrong but uh if you ride along here uh expect you know to be going as slow as 10 mph in places it’s uh very popular and therefore very busy hopefully you can hear me above the noise of the crash crashing waves just beneath me into my right hand side but behind me you can see a couple of big fairies that’s obviously still part of the port where the fairies Dock and disembark from and behind me I’ll turn the camera around in a second is the cathedral [Music] [Music] so having passed the Cathedral on the left uh we’re now sort of leaving the main uh hustle and bustle uh of the city center it’s a little bit quieter down here uh which is good if you’ve not cycled this way before there is a particular spot uh a kilometer or two uh ahead of us which is a good place to stop a good vantage point for watching planes take off and land from Palmer airport now Palmer airport is just on the outskirts of the city limits and there’s a little bit of a a JY or a uh piece of land jutting out whereby as I say it’s quite uh well known if you’re uh into your Aviation and you like watching planes take off and land it’s right underneath the flight path so when we get to it uh I might stop for a minute or two if I can see one close by and try and get some footage of that a little bit Breezy today as you can see from the uh white horses to my right crashing uh on the Rocks quite a bit of spray reaching me as I cycle along as well [Music] a [Music] as you can see from ahead of me and to the right it’s windy enough today it’s not windy it’s Breezy there’s enough of a breeze for kite Surfers to be out um there are many many kite Surfers out today [Music] [Music] riding for an hour and 15 I’ve done 17 and 1/2 Mile and because of the route that it’s brought me I’m still not out away from populated areas as you can see uh whatever this place is it might be I don’t know S I don’t know but it’s very very busy obviously very very popular now my route does take me into the countryside towards yuk Mayo but it hasn’t happened yet stay tuned we’ll get there after about 20 mil let’s just check 19.2 Mi after 19.2 miles we’re now off the coastal path which really started in palman NOA where I left from it was from there it’s been a ride through Palmer uh past the airport out of Palmer through campasta into I don’t know how you pronounce it Sanol popular with Germans I think uh where we’ve just left and an hour 24 we’re now on a cycle path at the side of the road heading out towards yuk May boy was that prominade busy mind you you wouldn’t expect much else for almost mid June on the subject of mid June Mr Garmin was reporting 29° so very pleasant not too hot and the breeze the stiff breeze that I experienced on the prom has now lessened slightly today’s route was created by straa uh I asked for a 50 55M route paved services is any elevation starting from palmanova and uh popularity routing turned on I.E cyclists who frequent and live in this area cycle these roads regularly and uh obviously it came up with a route and so far I’m still not in the country 21 A2 mile I’m on a quiet road but it’s at the side of a Motorway so I haven’t entered what I would call real Mayan Countryside just yet don’t give up on me viewers stick with it we’ll get there soon we must do we have to looks like we’re going the right direction just showing you the road sign I’m still next to the bloody Motorway okay we’ve done it 1 hour 48 minutes into the ride bloody ging right turn ahead 25.6 miles we’re away from the motorway that was to my left and we’re now in myor and Countryside orbe it I’d classify it as Farmland but nevertheless I’ll take it I think the motorway is a quarter mile to my left as I’m riding down this Lane I can hear to the left and right of me as I move forward uh cardas I think they are I’ve stopped where I am now because I can hear them on my left hand side there’s only certain trees and I’m going to pull up to this tree on the left now and see if you can hear them see if the mic Picks Them Up can you hear that hopefully I first heard that sound many years ago whilst holiday holidaying in a fishing Village in Portugal and I was passing particular trees uh on a road in the evening where there were electrical wires hanging now I thought the hum or the Screech or the noise whatever you want to call it was actually uh the sound of electricity passing through possibly faulty um uh electrical lines but I I don’t think well I’m fairly certain they are you can hear them now again really quite loud cardas cicadas sakadas quite uh quite distinctive non currently it’s like a a screech [Music] [Music] [Music] hopefully you can hear me and the commentary isn’t too garbled by the wind noise cuz it really is quite Breezy here and has been for the last couple of Mile I’ve been riding into a cross headwind anyway I was just thinking to myself as I’m riding along this very boring ordinary Countryside Lane where there is no Majestic Cliffside or Seaside scenery but considering I’m on a holiday which is not a cycling holiday how nice it is to be out in the countryside on the bike you know there might not be Majestic views such as cap formento offers on today’s route but looking at the positives a this is a bonus ride I wasn’t supposed to be riding today but got out because I was struggling with being off the bike for so long I E 10 days and as boring as the scenery might be Farmland on either side I’m still in the warmth I’m still in the sunshine this is still myor I’ve still got no cars around me it’s 31° so all things considered I’m happy that I’m outdoing this ride today it’s good for the soul life is short take happiness where you can get it after all tomorrow may be [Music] different c blank right turn cup blank and we’re on a better Road surface hurah still into a bit of a headwind though but I’ll take that better Road surface this Road must be a road popular with time trialists can you tell why because it’s long and straight and boring oh my god I’ve come around a slight Bend to the left and this section of road is even longer and straighter and more boring just looking down at the head unit and Garmin is suggesting that I’m staying on this road for the next 9.8 M uh if you’re watching this YouTube viewers send rescue helicopter now to this location Palmer 30 mile or 30 k I must get away from this idea of Miles s aronal 18 I was just thinking as I was cycling past some trees on the right where the caders were screaming again why they were doing it and uh I had two guesses let me know in the comments section if I’m right or wrong or if you know the answer the best two guesses I came up with was number one it’s either an action or a behavior that they do to combat the heat I.E to try and stay cool or it’s something to do with reproduction trying to attract a mate uh as I say if you know better let me know in the comment section below I’m still on the ma 6014 but to my left I can now see the C which indicates I probably completed or I’m close to completing the loop in today’s route just below look myor and I’m now heading back towards the coast path towards srol and Palmer and finally home to palmanova no coffee stop yet once I got out of Sanol I didn’t really see anym so I’ll look to stop for some light Refreshments once I get back on the coastal path I’ll be glad to get off this road for much of the last 15 Mile I’ve been into a headwind across [Music] wind that’s a nice view ahead of me I can just see in the distance the flat that I’m guessing is Palmer city on the Harbor the marina which are now cycling down [Music] towards that Coastline looks nice on the buildings on the flat land at the base of the mountains which lead into the sea that’s quite picturesque good news we’re now off that blasted road we’ve turned left and fingers crossed we’re dropping down towards the coast hallelujah hallelujah other than to tell you it’s 5 1 in the afternoon and I’ve been riding for 3 hours 5 minutes having done 46 M I haven’t got a bloody clue where I am thank Christ for the navigation feature on this head unit that’s one of the nice things about the navigation features on modern day head units is you know they give me confidence to almost go and get lost because you really you can get lost you know as long as you got those GPS satellites in orbit above you you can find out where you [Music] are I am really quite flabber gusted as to how busy this particular strip is I think this is snol isn’t it but I mean it’s thinning out a bit here but back down there a quarter of a mile that I’ve just come from the beach is absolutely packed this isn’t an area that I’ve come to much whilst I’ve been on the island on holiday and it’s really quite flawed me just how popular and busy it is at the moment it’s absolutely Chalker it’s heaving [Music] [Music] back in campest just going through par campest and the Garment has rooted me off the prominade which I’m not uh that bothered about because it’s nice to be away from all the tourists of which I’m one granted but it’s nice to be away from all the Walkers I should say and uh we’re heading back towards the madness that is the capital of the island traffic jum okay just pass on your left it’s 54.2 m ridden temperature 31.4 uh 10 to 2 in the afternoon so far I haven’t had a coffee stop uh the ride’s been fairly easy boring okay it did what I wanted it to do which was just spin the legs um I’ve had some nice views of the Marina and the cathedral in Palmer anyway getting back to the coffee stop I haven’t had one but I’m going to have one before the ride ends so I’ve just rang the boss and uh agreed to meet her somewhere on the prom in pal manova once we’re back at home base and she’s going to meet me somewhere in the town where we’re going to have a coffee and a little slice of something together which will be quite nice I’m quite looking forward to so I’ll probably do a ride summary once I’m back at the hotel uh as to my thoughts on today’s route so uh if you want to know what I thought of it stick around [Music] I’m just a few mile now from the Right End from arriving back in palmanova where I’m going to have a nice coffee so um if you’ve enjoyed today’s video such as it was give it a thumbs up please I’d be very grateful doesn’t cost anything it helps uh grow and promote the channel thanks very much if uh you’re interested in seeing more of the rides that I do on the island whilst I’m here hit that subscribe button again that’s free and uh click that notification Bell uh and that’ll make sure that you don’t miss any of the uh videos as when they released thanks very much for watching catch you next [Music] time and that’s a wrap look who come to greet me coffee time hola okay okay as you can see I’m back in the hotel um having enjoyed uh uh a nice cold drink of what was it lemon Fanta yeah uh a toasty and uh a coffee uh in town with the governor um dro the bike off of the shop ready for next week um taking on some more fluid uh back in the room and I’m now sitting down with a with a coffee just to mention briefly the uh my f my final thoughts uh on today’s ride um did I enjoy the ride yeah overall I did was it uh a good route no not really but I didn’t expect it to be um it’s not one of my yorker’s uh better known uh Roots it’s not cap formentor or PUO or S calabra you know it’s not one of the Island’s epic rides uh but for me all today was about out was getting on a bike and stretching my legs and not losing too much Fitness um bearing in mind I’d already been off the bike for 10 days uh before today and the four rides that I’ve got planned two hilly ones and soort of two short flat ones with the boss um next week so I didn’t lose too much Fitness whilst I was off the bike so today was just a leg Turner what I do this route again uh in all honesty no I wouldn’t um it was a good training route a route for a good training ride uh just to keep you know a level of aerobic fitness the legs turning over uh that’s about it um but um it served a purpose that would be the phrase that I would be that that I would use to sum up the the ride today it served a purpose [Music] w
