On the Tourist Parkrun trail again today and visited Lyme Parkrun on the edge of the Peak District, just South of Stockport, my home town. Just two days after the Dunham Massey 5K so feeling a bit depleted. Stunning scenery and we ran the winter course which gave us spectacular views over towards Manchester. Tough course but the weather improved dramatically so another Parkrun memory created!

good morning welcome back to the channel it is 7:40 on Saturday the 8th of June is it I think it’s the 8th um unusually it’s raining every time we do one of these videos look out the window it’s usually Sunny even if it’s cold not to be raining actually um I am running out of options in terms of uh Partners I can do which aren’t too far away my tourist Ambitions so um I’ve still got a few I can do um but they aren’t necessarily preferable anyway what I’m going to do today is lime Park room which is at lime Park which is near Stockport South Manchester uh it is challenging they even say that on the website you have to be careful in places you cross a couple of streams but it is spectacular because you have a view down uh from line park across into Manchester because it’s so high up so um [Music] without further Ado I will uh get on the road and I’ll see you in the next clip as I said the weather’s not too good but the good news is that according to the BBC it should be dry at 9:00 also in Warrington today we’ve got the women’s cycling uh tour coming through the town um about 2: p.m. so I’ll be go into that Here We Are Tour to Britain coming through warington women’s tour wow woo oh my goodness me wow uh running shoes today I think I’ll revert to the uh Muno wave ultimas um maybe a bit grippier in um off-road conditions I reckon than the Pumas they’ve only got two two shoes in my quiver one of my friends has got I think he said he’s got 15 pairs of running shoes I one got two okay we’re on the m56 heading towards Manchester and uh Manchester Airport and uh not very nice is it it’s not heavy rain but it’s not very nice I brought my uh waterproof running jacket I’m expecting that it could be a wet one but you never know it might improve okay we’re not far away now probably about a mile and uh the weather’s actually worse I’d say we’re on the six just coming out Stockport um heading towards disley from bston the line Park is actually just before you get to disle um there’s another part one I could have done which was Markle uh I’ll say that for another day I just thought uh it might be nice to do lime today but uh it’s looking pretty Grizzly now okay we’ve arrived at line Park we’re just uh going down the uh the long drive um some of you may already know that I’m uh from Stockport and Stockport is literally 3 miles from here so um yeah I’m very familiar with line Park um spent many a Sunday afternoon here um the good news is for part one it’s free entrance of course and free parking that’s good news I did read the instructions before on that baral website and it basically well I think it’s definitely a part room where you should really be wearing a pair of trail shoes but as you know I don’t possess any so just making do with my uh all around daily trainers the mauno wave ultimas course it’s still raining this is not good don’t like getting wet you can probably realize now that it’s a very very long drive uh the entrance Drive within Li Park to get to the car park it must be it must be a mile and a half certainly a mile um we are getting closer the question is is it uh is the rain stopping they said it was going to stop BBC weather forkast said wet at 8:00 or rain at 8:00 dry at 9 and 10 and then rain at 11: that’ be good isn’t it dry for part run so it’s apparently 9° outside which is not very warm is it and it’s definitely still raining not very nice at all all the uh Runners who have arrived are Sheltering underneath the canopy of the cafe okay so here I am in the car park it seems to be stopping which is good definitely seems to be stopping haven’t done a warm up yet need to yeah yeah I don’t think there’s many people here today so they’re doing the briefing and the bad news is that we’re on the winter course because um they’re moving some cattle so uh make it even more difficult running up to the cage and back which is a a monument at the top of the hill the cage oh well at least it’s sto raining anyway that’s good very good very very good indeed event number 457 apparently [Applause] Cloud 250th volunteer wow 250th volunteer amazing yep so we’re on the winter course and uh apparently the normal course is pretty gruelling you go straight into a big uphill this way you get a little bit of a downhill to start with which is nice Definitely okay half a kilometer and it’s a nice gentle downhill jog on the grass at least it’s St raining anyway got water poof stocks on I’ve got dry fet as well 1 km 5 minutes and 58 seconds nice e nice and easy quite a few people here today I reckon probably 150 200 this is the easy section we’re going down wait till we get to the climb up to the cage Here Comes The Climb time oh my goodness me I think I might resort to walking you’re probably thinking why is he suddenly appeared in the middle of this lime part one video it was just a quick request really um 77% of the people who are watching my videos are not subscribed and I do wish to grow the channel as you know so if you are not subscribed and you can uh please do and I really appreciate it okay back to the video I missed at 1.5 km I think 1.68 you can see Lamb cage there in the distance 2 km second now there we go uh yes I’m getting closer to the Cade but I’m walking now but there’s no shame in that is there the thing is you’re here do more than most people would want but and uh want to be outside and fresh a right over there is Manchester that’s how high up we are you can see it 2.5 km 2.54 actually taking it easy have a nice hybrid walk run look at these views amazing amazing this makes mfield partner look like a walk in the park I’ve been talking to somebody and uh forgot I just passed the 3 km Mark 3.3 now so we’re on the way down the hill and um only 1.7 km left I’m sure it seems a lot shorter than that but obviously isn’t 3.5 km and I’m walking I don’t care I don’t care I’m not I don’t know whether I mentioned before I did uh my first 5K road race of the year in one year actually on Thursday and uh well you’ll have to watch the video it’s quite eventful well it’s quite good because my wife did some made some footage as well so um I done a Massy 5K uh yes so I’m feeling a bit depleted after that that’s my excuse 4 km one more to go oh lovely morning there absolutely lovely perfect running conditions apart from the terrain 4.5 km I think it’s going to be a 40-minute part run what we on 35 52 yeah it will okay coming up on the Finish must be my slowest part one this year got no slip strips or Falls thank you oh my God okay so that’s it lime park run done and dusted I think it was something like 37 minutes but my primary objective was not to fall over I’ve got no excuse for the fact I was walking up the hill though but I thought you know what I’m a bit depleted after Thursday so why go mad just enjoy it immerse yourself in the experience the park run experience so uh what lovely Days is now I can’t believe the weather’s changed so much it’s absolutely lovely now this is a lovely place to come if you want to do some Hill training come to line Park anyway thank you for watching I appreciate your support and I’ll see you in the next one [Music]

    1. I was doing a Tatton Park 10km that morning about 15 miles to the west of you, and we had the same thing with the weather, was looking like a wash-out but then it brightened up about 10 minutes before the start. That run up to the Cage is a fair old effort even if you're just walking/hiking it, so must've been absolutely gruelling run-wise… looked a bit soggy underfoot too! Thanks for sharing!

    2. Love parkrun content, I'm a buggy runner so seeing the routes really helps me decide if it's doable or not. I'm putting this on the probably not list 😄

    3. Wow this was more like a fell race than a parkrun. Views looked spectacular 🤩 Sounded like you were getring blown about a bit there too. Remaining vertical is always the goal, and no shame walking. These kinds of events benefit from it, and a consistent pace kinda goes out of the window, and it becomes (for me) about banking energy lol. Well done on another great video pal 👍
