The race organisers of the Tour de Suisse confirmed yesterday evening that the final two stages of the race would go ahead as planned following the tragic death of Gino Mäder. The decision to continue with the final two stages was made following consultation with Mäder’s family, along with the riders, teams and race’s staff.

The peloton followed the scheduled route for stage 7 but GC timings were taken 25km from the finish.

    1. Chapeau to all pro / amatuer cyclist of all variations. Pro’s lose their lives far more in training rides than in actual races. RIP to all those that passed doing what they, we pro cycling fans love. ❤️

    2. still can't believe the sad loss of Gino, he had great potential, if i remember right he came 5th in vuelta last year, as we all know tour of Spain is a hard race, RIP Gino xx

    3. That must have been a really tough day for all the riders…. This is such a shock for fans and riders…. The racing is irrelevant for the rest of this event. Well presented GCN …. A good tone from your commentator

    4. I know that GCN is just the broadcaster and the UCI is the governing body and by commenting here doesn't really mean anything, but these men seem like they understand the right thing to do in this moment. Let each race for himself tomorrow, and honor the memory of their friend and colleague right now. Back to racing.

    5. The way to honour Gino by Remco was to ride as fast as you can and have the rainbow jersey cross the line first.
      I like that commentary.

    6. Suisse organizers could have made them all ride together for 26Km, Gino's age when he flew to a higher place🕊️

    7. Sad.. everyone is sad and broken. People die but this really hit the cycling world hard. All of you out there who ride, pro or amateur. Take precautions. Please.

    8. RIP Gino Mader. 2025 will mark 30 years since the death of Fabio Casartelli on the descent of the Portet d’Aspet in 1995. Cycling is so dangerous. Chapeau to those who risk their lives for glory.

    9. What a tough day for the guys as indeed tomorrow finishing near Mader's town. There seems to be more serious injuries these days, the cyclists push above and beyond. RIP the young man.

    10. I love cycling, I use to be a top amateur racer.
And what happend is a terrible tragic.

But; 1 day before 500 people drowned trying to reach Italy in search for a better life.

Of course one accident does not rule out the other, but it does make one think and put it in perspective.

    11. all my respect to these cyclists who, with so much pain in their hearts, continue the path that Gino begins. very beautiful tribute at the finish line. all my respect to friends and family😔

    12. Remco is a pos. Pushing people around, almost causing crashes as a result. He could kill others like Gino Mader.

    13. I know it's trite, but Gino would have wanted the race to be finished. He always gave his all.
I'm so glad his family gave their blessings.
      It's so sad…
