    1. A delightful story of your cycling holiday. I hope that you enjoyed it as much as your appeared to?
I live in the U.K. and travel to the Netherlands every year with a few friends for a five day cycling adventure. We get the overnight ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam and stay in a different hotel every year for three nights and explore the local area. We average about 45 miles a day and stop regularly for refreshments. We follow the numbered junction signposts which are superb.

      Will you return one day?

    2. Great video! I hope to do a similar trip this year but from Australia. How did you find the the hire bikes? Reliable and comfortable? What kind of accommodation did you use? Where did you leave your bikes and gear when going to museums etc. Thanks.

    3. Great video! Very pleasant to watch, looks like you guys had fun. Inspired by four of you, my husband and I are planning the same trip, hopefully we can go in May 2023! 😊

    4. Very nice. I was there the same time! A week in May in Haarlem – my first time in country. I went back to Utrecht for a month in Aug/Sep. I love the whole place. Been studying Dutch for a year or so with Duolingo and now LingQ. Going back next summer. It's the best…. I'm from San Diego and covered a lot of the same territory you did, plus further north and east.

    5. That first picture you showed of Gouda is actually Delft 🙂 And I noticed you let Google Maps determine your route, which is not the best idea in the Netherlands. Google Maps is made by Americans who think that there must be a segregated bike path for you to cycle on or else you can’t go there. This means they tend to send you to boring main roads because those have segregated bike lanes. However, pretty much any road in the Netherlands is cyclable, and you usually have much better routes when not cycling next to through traffic. Therefore, either use the numbered junction system or set Google Maps to walking. For example, your day from Gouda to Utrecht, you just followed the main N road, which is dreadfully boring. Staying on the Gouda side of the IJssel river would have been more pleasant (far less traffic) and prettier. I am sure you had a nice time regardless, and I’m not writing this to make you feel bad, but this is just in case any people watching this want to do something similar: do NOT rely on the cycling feature of Google Maps (or Apple Maps or any other American-made map app) when planning cycling trips in the Netherlands.

    6. Very nice, so wholesome to see videos like these of people exploring our country on bikes. I really hope I get to do something like this in the future with loved ones
