This Campervan Trip is a NIGHTMARE! Back Down to DEVON! Fishing in Ilfracombe

After first driving down to Devon, to see Amy and her newborn baby, we then had to take Amy to St Micheal’s Hospital in Bristol, while staying in the Wye Valley. We now have to go back down to Devon, as Amy may be delivered back there with her baby. But first, we have another little look around one of the Wye valleys, beauty spots. Wintour’s Leap. This viewpoint is unbelievable, from the top of towering limestone cliffs. Before making our way to Ilfracombe we have a look at one last place. Chepstow and its magnificent castle. Once we get back to Ilfracombe we do some Fishing at the harbour. But can we catch anything this time?

On this Channel, we’re be converting our new, well new to us 2005 Peugeot Boxter. which we bought to replace our Renault Kangoo, which is too unreliable, uneconomical, and small for Dad to sleep in. This van was an ex-school bus, with only 80k miles on the clock, 3 new tires, a new exhaust, But most importantly it starts every time and doesn’t have a fuel leak. The two big problems with buying an ex-school minibus are, one, it came with 14 seats in the back that we have to remove and try to get rid of. two it has a speed limiter on it. This van is so big we can all sleep in it, allowing us to travel to beautiful places far and wide, like Scotland and Wales, whilst staying in the van. So join us as we convert this ex-school bus into a beautiful family camper, from electrics, plumbing, and gas to building 3 beds, a kitchen, a dinette, and a toilet all into a 6ft by 11ft box.

but about I don’t know I didn’t hear it something weird happened yeah what happened then at half1 12 my van shook twice we thought it might be an earthquake CU there was an earthquake in Wales a Monday might have been the Aftershock Andy it was weird it was like we almost went over a bump it was doing that for a little while and then it stopped then a little bit again I again and then that was it and Mom w’t moving cuz she was asleep me and Josh weren’t moving there was no one around the vehicle no wind yeah it’s like someone pushed it anomaly we don’t know what happened yeah I said was that you and that said no don’t think think Dad those are really good as well you want to say thank you to Penny oh yeah I want to say thank you to Penny Amy’s on here say thank you to the channel AM and Penny it’s not penny lter is it yeah Amy’s Amy’s on the phone at the moment and um penny blesser has asked if Amy needs anything and she needs an electric uh breast pump so bless her look this is from Penny she’s got one and she’s she’s sent it she’s got breast pads and nipple cream and she sent it to am it’s going to be there tomorrow so thank you very much Penny it’s really and I’ve got your don’t know what I mean so that’s um also we got an update haven’t we yeah we got an update Amy’s um Amy’s not doing too badly but she has got got on antibiotics just in case the wound gets infected because of her diabetes but Noah she went to see Noah in the Intensive Care bit and he’s out of there now in a different Ward and he’s awaiting transfer so he’s well enough to be transferred back to bable which is brilliant they won’t take Amy and Mom down we got to drop them back down no we won’t we won’t be transferred down so we we’re going to the boys are going to have to go back down there it doesn’t mean we can probably do some sea fishing there to do it made me laugh cuz Amy started panicking yesterday cuz you saw his diaphragm now was diaphragm she what’s that why is he doing that I said he’s got hiccups Amy oh and he was just hiccup him and she oh it was funny last night cuz he was in the still we had to I had a hold and I think Amy put some Facebook fil it oh yeah filmed it but um yeah Amy changed his laughy blaz and and as he was Ching the poo poo had a poo poo and then he had a had a little we squir like a fountain we went Amy went Amy goes I wonder what his Willie was going up for like that she um well we’re going to go a little walk now we’re going to go down the river wide down there long way down um we’re going to go see the lime kilm St James’s church and ventor’s leap yeah a little round come and join us spotted a great spotted wood pepper spotted wood pepper we just listen to the green one we couldn’t see it see it the great spotted red on him he’s going around the other side of that Branch yeah Deadwood they’ll pck the Deadwood out and eat all the um bugs and stuff as yeah yeah we just talking about the U trees so many so many here AR there yeah don’t see this many usually so much wildlife in this why protected be trees now you’re not even allowed to cut them or tou them without permission yeah it’s only about like 8° guys very cold it’s almost may but s just listen to all the birds so quiet here back box there love the way all these trees are growing out all this Limestone looking for a lime kill around here uh this looks like an old Cy this bit this is the top of the lme C I see that so the entrance to it be down here somewhere yeah we would walk past it there all your wood and kindering in the bottom and another a layer of coal layer of lime layer of coal layer of lime till it’s all filled up got a dangerous job though it live very long well once it turned to Quick lime it trouble is with quick line if it gets reacts with water I mean there were stories of horse carts going to the fields to put quick lime on the fields the fertilizer and it started raining and they caught a light but when you breathed it in imagine what it did to your lungs yeah there’s the bottom of them not massively spectacular limestone kilms like on the canals down at you know on the uh on the Calen Canal you know that one on the montgonery it’s still pretty nice this whole valley was once a bustling industry of all this Limestone wire making and iron and all that lot it’s lovely old ancian oak probably I don’t know 400 years old maybe he’s dead now but but yeah he’s a big one but look what’s right next to him what this is I think it’s a well looks like it might be a well lovely ancient sticker M here too there’s the river down there what a Beauty look at this it’s like conjoined itself it’s funny is it yeah but look at that bark compared to that bark it’s not an oak I’m not sure what it is it’s a so these are two different trees then yes side by side you got this second one here it’s growing over this here this is probably years old I’d say yeah it’s older a’t it yeah this is yeah but this is no this is quicker growing this is the remains of St James’s Church there may have been a church here all the way back in the 7th and 8th Century this is probably one of the earliest Christian sites in the Y Valley and historical references suggest an early Monastery Community here how did it get destroyed well the Vikings may have destroyed the original Church during the raids up the Y Valley but the one we see built here today was probably built by the early Lords of cheptoo castle Yeah six just about 1632 I could read Jesus almost 400 years old the church contained a superb lead font made between 11:30 and 11:40 which suggests the church existed there look at that view never seen anything like it in the UK haven’t really AP from Yorkshire maybe Limestone up there oh yeah Ro climbing yeah people rock climbing again looks like they going into a cave hang on look seaweed dead brury yeah it’s flooding come up wow you can flood the footpath yeah lovely wild camping spot this is someone’s used someone’s wild camping over there now in the boat yeah that’s the gear box and then the prop would be at the end it’s either that or a winch but that looks like a prop to me do it you might be an old fairy could be yeah this is there’s a cut out there look yeah I Sting the Google that almost like it’s a a dock used to be a dock maybe if the boat’s coming up to get the stone t com up to here so expensive to par there I don’t know it’s weird have a train there hope you get up coming down H oh they going up we got to get back up that Cliff but it isn’t very long distance so that means it’s going to be quite a climb it’s not going to be very gradual then no we could rock climb up like those people do no I don’t think soit from the main entry exit point to from rul of nature res along the public [Music] foot apparently this path is closed so I’m going to have a little look up there and see if it is car is privately owned it’s quite an Ascent up here BL how this is hardcore don’t if that I can do this this Crocs on how far I’ve come up thing spoke to a rock climber all rock climbers in it’s Hiers two people uh yeah he says the fence has been knocked down or something you can never believe these signs say oh fence was put up there’s no way out but there is got look for yourself got no phone signal call on there that D de there’s deer opposite in that side of the river look at that wow H mate you got a nest in there he just slipped you s to blame you already have to walk back like 200 me to the boat like he’s the only get shoes from the boat back no because it’s not just part of the old building left from the old Cy works it used to be we used to be cried that’s a nice view is it GL do you H unbelievable this isn’t it yeah beautiful unbelievable Tri over the good views never end yeah I told you someone’s just got rid of it thanks for that guys been entry there’s the edge right someone’s house is right here look right on the edge and you wouldn’t even know it’s crazy oh what a lovely place to own that would be swimming pool there right on a massive Cliff well this is wentor leap and it’s it must have been wo’s leap he must have guy called wentor must have leaped off here tide is going out even further but oh my God it’s just unbelievable really truly is there’s a guy halfway up a cliff down there oh my God made it back time for some lunch storage on my phone but luckily I brand for laptop so I can move files on too for now just sat outside table oh my God that down yeah about 20 P 1 now so lunch I think we walked quite a bit we three miles yeah just just under three miles um sun was out Jesus Christ excuse me to wait ages cuz to move fast so I could film or eat her lunch got quite it’s better yesterday really but ham Che Mayon and lettuce so tomato yeah just enjoying our French stick outside this is what it’s all about is it so outside the sun is actually come out pretty chilly but with the sun it’s nice yeah it’s funny cuz I took my jumper off had a t-shirt on oh sunshine then when the Sun goes in it’s pretty nippy so you have I have to put the jump back on again and it’s called one extreme to the other I think it’s going to go down to two degre tonight yes the fire might be on it’s going to be pretty cold yeah we’re just waiting for the call on Amy now see what’s happening yeah 5 minutes down the chip store now oh and’s driving cuz got Drive 6 minutes so have a quick little round CH St U before Hope Rings us just going to have a look at the castle and maybe a couple tra shops yeah f stand this is the old wi Bridge not original cuz there were early wooden bridges here since Norman times it was put here in 1816 by John R of Bridge North which is of course the area where most of the Iron Works came from just like many of the iron aqueducts on the canals it carried the main a48 road between Newport and Gloucester until 1988 when the new bridge that we just came in on was built alongside it Downstream cuz I imagine things were getting pretty busy through there you’re Wells again P it’s the first time I’ve seen one of those dad that’s this is chipto Castle and it is the oldest surviving post Roman Stone fortification in Britain construction began all way back in 1067 under instruction of the Norman Lord William Fitz Osborne the castle has been a stronghold in many battles over the years between glou and montshire and Wales and England and they’ve been fighting there centuries in 1685 the buildings were partly dismantled and leased to tenants and left to Decay various parts of the castle used as a farmyard and Glass Factory and by the late 18th centuries its ruins became with other sites from the Y Valley pictures a feature of the Y tour the Y Valley is of course where tourism really start to kick off from one of those places while we’re here in chap we thought we’d check out a few of their charity shops right they light are they yeah they’re quite light as well compared to those metal ones you got Walkers a Walkers guyet you go [Music] walk W what’s going on let’s have a quick look that had a breathe and he’s gone back under so keep see the seal Gray Seal there gray SE I’m not sure if it’s a gray seal or not I could I only just saw its back had a blunt nose it’s probably gray miss the seal I never thought he’d go in this show just saw a little Lum yeah he’s come from there all the way up to there now trying to get up probably yeah I was trying to find where the fish are I didn’t see him yeah you don’t see him I just about caught the fell end of him yeah he’s going through these these shallow rocks here looking for grab come on baby more there he is he there he is him now yeah did you get him Josh yeah look at him definitely a common isn’t it using his new binoc to try and find the seal that’s all we got in the track shop just bers are they good yeah he’s up by the bridge now they’re good they’re Crystal Clear these leaving uh Wales PR good this time a nice timeing chip though never said four my God lovely the castle was beautiful we go inside though a little bit disappointed with High Street thought it would be nice that yeah you just go out about three shops jar shops yeah Dad got himself some binoculars binoculars I’ve been after a pair for ages I’ve been I can’t ever get to go to car boot sales cuz I work Sunday so yeah found a nice pair so not people going we’re going back down to De again May’s been lifted down uh with yeah she’s transferred with um Noah so it saves us we haven’t got to go to Bristol Hospital try and park and pay Fortune again so yeah she’s going down with there and we’re beeting her down there and now I think Andy and Josh are going to try and have a little fish tonight stay at Le Bay uh just near yeah and hopefully do some fishing cuz High TI is going to be about 8 and it’s going to be 8.8 I think yeah should be there said but we won be yeah going to get at 6:00 have to stay there probably 7 yeah we’ll drop I think am is actually going to go home tonight be nice see lby and everything so that be for and then we after then I think I don’t know if we’ve updated it but she tells me that the do said no might be for another week so we’re we’re just I’ve got GE ry’s car I think so I just we just have to drive there every day to see him yeah so anyway let’s get down to uh see you then it’s not very um welcome to the Quarry Road wide Road the Quarry Road to we quite a wide van this is the problem this is the old little stumping ground we used to take this road cuz it’s a lot of it’s a much a shortcut they bypass B 20 M but it’s bendy and yeah very narrow M’s almost heading up in there heading up in the Hedge a few times I had to I had to pull over cuz I was really tired so I’ve drove halfway and Andy’s driving the other half but I’m not not very good passeng but we’re going straight to thing now we oh going straight to Lee now and they could do some fishing which would be nice because um Noah and Amy haven’t even left the Bristol hospital because his SATs went down so he wasn’t safe enough to move and then they put him in the incubator and his SATs went up and he’s fine so he’s fine to move now so but we left at 4:00 expecting Amy to be leaving then and she’s still therec yeah so we’re going to get to Le and F so relax them so that’ll be all right tied in tied out out we’ve only got a few hours of fishing at Le then the Tide’s gone too low to fish yeah so you’ve only got hours maximum you have made it to Deon and it’s sunny yay I know man app this road is closed so let’s see might to do with that hotel I don’t know the hotel’s being knocked down oh my God now usually can’t see the sea this is changed is it Jesus yeah all what’s left the leay hotel yeah 24 there fish no you can’t you have to go up there and fish you can’t just walk up there there’s nowhere to stay here park just behind you in there yeah like I said this was damaged down here in like a storm winter storm so they’re repairing it again yeah the road the road is closed there so that’s where they want to go we want to get up there up there that is where we usually fish at Lee Bay this is probably one of the last times the Lee Bay hotel ever be filmed I reckon Believe It or Not guys but this is where I took my first drone flight and I didn’t even know had to tilt the camera up and down then but I flew the Drone around Lee Bay Hotel um yeah I remember exploring that fondly my makes yeah such a s sad to see but I think they’re going to be putting houses here now but yeah this is Lee Bay we used to fish up there little car park out there you see Fish now anyway no I’m talking about here not on the pier we’re going to have to drive down de now AR we fish down poock steps yeah yeah cat on it down there pretty good down poock steps there here we are the old house okay we’re finally home just got just Hollywood Cottage that’s where Jeff and Jack used to live as well Jeff and Jackie the people who did the wash with us right right next door and there’s the old local park he used to go to all the time here it is Madonna’s bra they call it Madonna’s bra yeah wonder why there’s Cappy Stone let’s pull out cap Stone that’s just been opened that was there let’s get F I think we for D har parking free down here now 6:00 p.m. check there’s no one down there fishing that’s the new water sport going to get a portion of chips as well yeah one of the chippies all a bit exhausted really it’s mentally to be honest it’s very mentally exhausting one minute like you know one minute Amy’s got their beds at Bristol that happen and then one minute they’re coming down so we get off and now now Amy’s still there now and she won’t know anything till 8:00 tonight so I’m not sure even if she’ll be back tonight yeah Dad’s just down there fishing so we going see we catch anything SN this is where we wanted to fish uh when we were down here in January years ago when I first look how deep that water is still going then you see it not used to deep water like that sometimes what I do is just have it over the edge like that b but up and down in the water catch the poet coming through helping himself the bread do you know what that looks like her last year’s tricks isn’t it yeah cuz they still got the going around with Mom still M nice BS certainly got our BS [Music] out no bites yet but I just wait here I don’t know wey might get lucky I fished here and and at any bit as soon as it gets dusk or dark then I’ve got bikes yeah hopefully that’s the same today God’s sake there’s a SE on the buny RO don’t sh the about4 9 we just got another bite we’ve given up it’s 10:00 at night now we’ve had a few good bites but nothing just nibble bites but nibbles are not really taking the bait yeah yeah she’s here I didn’t know this this where you used to park and you can walk up to the TS a drop what you mean what oh I don’t feel safe what how you turn the van around here Josh you tried he lives in for 20 years he’s even been down this Beau for Bread’s in the house yeah look at this view [Music] here going go one last little walk over the TOs aren’t we yeah one last little walk it’s it’s unbeliev it’s unbelievable what’s happened Amy is still in Bristol with Noah so every time they went to transport it or his SATs went down so they couldn’t move him so we’re still on tender hooks what’s happened I’m down here anyway so that’s the main thing I’m going to pick up cuz I’m in short for Amy’s car so I’m going to pick up Amy’s car later so I’ve got Amy’s car to hopefully don’t even know she might go to Taunton they might go to barville we don’t even know yet so we’re still waiting so we’re we’re let you know a bit of a hill already some the highest SE cliffs in the UK here a lovely Viewpoint just over here walk over there and then we’ll back through there you got blue BS going here yeah that view never gets old that’s small point over there and other side that is wum oh my look at this lovely a it this is what we love about got xmore over there those Hills in the back little hangman and big hangman down here is a lovely secluded beach love this beach Hazel Bay you can only get to it by boat i’ never been down there but I I love looking down there lovely slate sand and turquoise blue water lovely back down the hill now to the up to thein Viewpoint and then we can Circle back down there through the nice Woodlands I think they got blue bells in there then back down to the Lane zigzag okay I’m walking and that’s it we walked back to the van dropped Mom off Amy’s flat and me and Dad headed back up to sty bridge I hope you all enjoyed our little adventure and geta away to the W Valley and Devon two places and one trip weird please like subscribe and I’ll
