we’re going back in August so maybe I going in August you probably be in Italy yes time which day in August middle of the month I’d be in Italy for sure well good good that you’re going back to Italy a lot of family still there yes I have my two parents and okay no sister lives in Germany so and we’re going also to Slovakia that’s the original country of my wife and she has a lot of we have a family reunion there and then I want to try to set the record from Bratislava that’s the capital of Slovakia to Rome that’s the capital of Italy of course it’s about 750 miles well getting out of Slovak Slovak it’s going to be a lot of mountain ridges to get over right yes I’ve been to 3s yes but then it’s flate and then I have to cross the up andini mountains you don’t go so up so it’s a flattish route let’s say yeah okay I want I want you to start concentrating on the race thank you so much good luck to you sir thank you so much all right oh my God Chuck how are you sir to see you hi how are you how are you hey Colin hey man how are you sir B hey you’re in the pink aren’t you yeah I just I just wanted to say um to my girlfriend these are the these two folks crewed for me in 2009 Furnace Creek the the very very windy year thank you thank you I like your head oh these are microphones I just didn’t want to put it in her face but these are microphones what’s your name I’m Anna hover hi Anna tell me about your team and your charity we are from Meridian Mississippi I am with Ed abdella team abdella go Ed go go go go yes he is the first Mississippian to ever attempt RAM and he’s going to be the first Mississippian to complete it that’s right he is going to be yes good positive energy there we’re and we’re keeping it that way team Mell is strong we um he attached Hope Village for children to the race so we have a very lofty goal to raise $1 million for Hope Village for children right it serves all 82 counties of the state of Mississippi it takes in children that are WS of the state they come in with trauma and they leave with hope and dignity some of these kids go to college whate are we talking about from birth to 18 however they also have transitional housing there are so many facets to this group home y’all I didn’t know I just went and T it in October I’m from Meridian and I had no idea it’s of the largest employers in Meridian Mississippi it employs over 100 people that’s significant for a Meridian for a Mississippi town and they have the transitional housing the kids can go to Junior College or regular College have jobs it’s it’s a beautiful beautiful facility has your razer taken off yet he has not we leave at 12:50 p.m. oh 12:50 okay because that’s my that’s my friend there uh uh race number R 121 so I I just want to make sure I’m not I don’t miss him don’t okay thank you for telling us about your charity also founded by actress CA Ward she’s uh Emy Golden Glove winner M Mississippi she did that there you go thank you thank you good luck to you got to put the plug that’s right good luck to your guy thank y’all good luck to your guy make it to so this is a pretty good way to get there next up isan p this a gentleman we’ve seen around quite a bit he erases a lot of ultra stuff around this country he’s finished Ram as a two person partip langu relativ [Music] Lang we wen’t getting on the road here in just a few seconds we’d have he’s going to be rolling in five 4 3 2 one good luck got it David thanks for walking up and introducing yourself I with all these people here there’s no way I would have found you so which one how many how many solos is this for you this is my start you what e e start so yeah yeah we’re going for it’ll be six finishes I got two dnf so yeah first place we’re going for the old guys you and me right yeah yeah we might be the same age I’m 58 no 56 so we’re right there yeah yeah awesome um what did you learn from your two dnfs uh you know first one was my first race so hydration and keep moving and my second one was just my body fell apart and so I’ve worked hard in the gym to get stronger and come back and be strong shoulder TR trashed and wrecked my shoulder previous and it just was not strong enough so you should be good yeah yeah well we don’t have much time I know you got to roll out y I wish you a lot of luck thanks and uh Tailwinds Tailwinds you good luck thank you nice meeting you you too well that was David Hy and we were actually leaving and he walks up and introduces introduced himself to me cuz I wouldn’t have found him in this crowd so that was very very nice of him to take 2 minutes out of his 5 minutes so okay we’ll see you guys up the road this is soo racer who has raised how you doing Pete who you here to see anybody in particular not really I you know I mean been so long I don’t know anybody that’s in it we’ll see on Saturday along with yeah well it gets in your blood and you can’t stay away out here George is also a ram racer he owns a shop just down the way not too far called rev Cycles so if you’re looking uh for little bik m a new ride just look damn good that’s the guy to go see right there that’s that’s crazy and totally and totally impr prompted they’ll they’ll be L up at the door when you open up the next day so how you been Pete I haven’t seen you in a while good yeah yeah it’s always are you still doing your Wednesday we stopped that there’s a BC and there’s an AC yeah yeah before Co after so B B is doing a Tuesday ride and then there’s a group that goes out on Thursday I wonder if if I saw him today on Melrose cuz I thought I saw him but it didn’t of about yeah okay so when you said you’ve been you’ve been away for a while how long would you say you’ve been away uh the last time I did Ram in the team was 2008 2008 so it’s been a long time yeah yeah yeah so I just come down here it’s not very far away was that an eight person that the year three times an hanging out somewhere around here here of uh Jessica doesn’t know you H the solo average speed across the country for how many years 20 27 27 years yeah Kristoff stard yeah yeah but yeah you held it for a long long time and that was so impressive but that was so impressive did you did you contact him when you said hey that congrats um well he’s he’s not here no no no of course not this but way back no but 2014 I was on a it was on a Wednesday when he was going to finish because I was following it online yeah and so I called I got a hold of the organizers they took they took the phone handed it to him he was on the finish line on the finish line so I got to congratulate oh my God that’s awesome it was great I mean I I have told people that and they they can’t believe that it stood for that long that’s how amazing you were they kept changing the course and it just got tougher and tougher you know 86 we used we were using the freeways freeway shoulders you know how humble you are you’re giving everyone else an excuse for not breaking the record but yeah I would imagine urbanization had some play more stop signs more traffic lights H course you know and you got to get lucky with the weather yes the weather is always the X Factor me if you get lucky and you get Tailwinds have a good time to get caught by thunderstorms and stuff any any of that stuff when I when I did it in 2007 everyone complain prior to the race all the headwinds in Kansas and I had Tailwinds for a little while I got on my TT bike and I had Tailwinds and I’m like and I’m telling the crew vehicle move to the side exactly so they were shadowing you because they were blocking my Tailwind exactly yeah we had to do that for my brother in ‘ 85 right had a huge tailwind and we had we just had to back off cuz otherwise we would have shadowed him yeah you were blocking his Tailwind how I haven’t seen your brother in a long long time color that’s why yeah yeah it was always fun to ride with both of you on a Wednesday the benefits of being unemployed and you were retired of course yeah speaking of um urbanization The Grand Tour had a 400 mile course and it was you know the goal was always to make it in 24 hours yeah but that continued to urbanize and urbanize and urbanize and I never got it I could never get the 24 hour Mar on it I appreciate you okay it’s good to see you guys it is always good to see you yep yep yep I’m going to take the mic from you yeah okay and well just wish these folks in a good oh [Music]
