Short walk around of my 1993 Roberts Dogs Bolx. Built in Croydon, U.K by Chas Roberts. This bike is fully restored with some choice period parts. It’s about to start it’s long journey to part of a mountain bike museum in Utah, U.S.A.

thought I’d make a video about my 1993 Roberts dogs bollocks Classic mountain bike this had a bit of a collection of vintage mountain bikes for a while and I’m moving out of my little Garage in London where things have been stashed for a long time in the process of moving I’m selling some of my collection off including this 93 Roberts dogs bollocks it’s going to be going to a collector a mant bite Museum in Utah in the states so I thought before it goes in the box that’s next to me I’d make a little video about it so here it is Classic Bike if you were a teenager in the ’90s like I was I 16 in 1993 this was the thing to have what a classic machine Philip brav handbuilt steel made by Chaz Roberts over in Cen and I thought I’d just make a video from for you guys to see I bought it as a frame set the needed paint for a couple hundred quid and I got it repainted by Mario vas I’ve in here the green and the original white with a black red triangle how the Roberts decals Mario had these decals but I had this one remade this is the same as the one that was on it some of the bikes came with this some came with a different style and the Chad Roberts and Columbus decal and the original head badge this one’s an 18 in top tube cable routing TS the dogs bollocks by a really wide Wishbone rear stay look at that loads of Tire clearance 2.1 smokes fitting without a problem 27 .2 seat post 68 mil bottom bracket shell really nice don’t know if you can see it ozinga o Max I’ve got another Roberts for that St really nice really nice butting and the phip raising such a gorgeous bike this one’s got the pce rc35 forks that aren’t on the wrong way around they going I have the brakes on the back that with the original decals little bit of rub really cool 1in headset on this XT original headset with a little spacer cuz the forks were a tiny bit too long synchros 1in stem answer hyperight bars purple 3dv I had a load of purple that I thought I’d use on this build I was accumulating parts for a while so there’s quite a lot of purple on it purple Top Line cranks with a black extra XD chain Rings XD pedals and then XTR m900 rear deria and front deria with some nice I think they control Tech maybe I’m not sure but they’re aluminium jockey Wheels XT is running seven speeed although it’s eight-speed der it’s running s speed with the XT thumb shifter is you can run seven or eight speed on these as I’m so most retro M by head will no die die comp brake levers rear shod grips some nice 3dv bolts in there and the brakes front and rear are dieom 987 with the original blocks ring lay bottle cage bit of purple and on the back this is an odyssey straddle cable some people don’t like it I think it looks pretty cool I’m using metal rather than cables you adjust those Barrel adjusters ringl skewers the wor set on this is XT XT T 732 735 on really nice [Music] mavic unworn mavic 231 CD the tires are reissue paror smoke and D 2.1 seat post is a used shimmed 25 mil down to 27.2 it was New Old Stock when I put it on with a flight titanium saddle that is a 92 model there’s a date underneath I won’t be able to pull it out and see but yeah it’s a beautiful bike really be sad to see this thing go since restoring it repainting it rebuilding it I haven’t used it it’s sat in storage and given its garage Queen condition I probably won’t ever ride it in anger so before it moves down to Sussex where I’m going to I thought I’d offer it for sale and a great guy out in the States has bought it delivering it to another location in the UK who’s going to send it on to him but I’ll miss it it’s an absolute icon I’m going to be hanging on to a few other great bikes but I’ll be sad to see this one go

    1. A truly exceptional bike! I've always loved Roberts. BTW, thanks for reminding me of Mario Vaz! Im amazed he is still working, still in Hither Green…he did an amazing respray for me of a hardtail Cannondale in about 1995…it cost me £60, and was MUCH admired on the streets of London. Cheers!
