brought in in time and they feel it unfair to burden those who remain with the pressures and commitments of hosting the race the 19th and most recent edition of the race was won back in February by Kristen Faulkner of EF Lizzie Banks the former rider for EF tipco who recently had her case thrown out by UK anti-doping after a lengthy battle and she spoke in detail and quite frankly about her ordeal uh visit her website Lizzy Banks that’s Lizzy with an ie Lizzy banks. co.uk she has today revealed that wer are appealing against the tribunal’s decision and seek to implement a two-year ban and removal of her race results during that time that will now be heading to the court of arbitration for sport and will probably drag out positive though we’ll start with the tour of Britain stage two out from and back to rexam in North Wales right on the border with England the 140 km stage today Crossing into Chesire after about 15K of racing on a clockwise Loop through beaston and Malpass back over the border at w and Bri just south of rexam and onto the first categorized climb that’s Aon Hill then they continue to Head East to the Horseshoe past it goes past world end and comes back into rexen from the southwest of the city via minera to a finish in the City Center on Chester Street those two climbs then is the c 3 Aton Hill near The Banger on D race course it’s only, 1400 M long at a steady 3% that peaks 90k in then onto the cat one hesho pass on the a 542 Road passy Berwin slate Quarry from clanto to pen it’s 42k long averaging 6.2% it’s in the eight and 9es early on until a flatter final kilometer to the summit that Peaks 113 1 12K in it’s 26.6k from home unfortunately four non-starters from yesterday’s 87 finishes ncol nosova of cofidis Connie Hayes of dolini OA barbette vanderwolf of Life plus Wahoo and Zoe langum of pro this 200 degre coffee har GRS Contracting we wish them all well and hope they’re all back in Action soon particularly with Nationals on the horizon if you missed our chat with Connie she was on Tuesday’s episode this week part two of our three-part preview for the race after yesterday’s stage lot keki of Death Star Works in green as the race leader her red points Jersey being Borrowed by laia PST of Liv jaku Lizzy Dinan of Great Britain in blue as Queen of the mountains and alen Jansen of V wrestles in white as the best young Rider the bunch came home at 3 minutes 50 yesterday behind the Breakaway group of nine so all of them are at 4 minutes and 2 seconds to keki when you take into account her Bona seconds that she won at the intermediate and of course at the finish line today then from the flag drop and soon we had an early solo de was francisa of DSM she clipped off solo ahead of the bunch she was one of three Rider’s early daughter that looked like they were pretty Lively and active she made the move after 20K racing went solo and after 40 km she had a gap of 40 seconds after 65k it was out over 3 minutes and she was clear until that first climb of the day at iton Hill was still in the front taking the Four Points over the top b a battle behind her and a bunch with Heidi Frans of Life plus outpacing Lizzy Donan and Christine M jeras for the 3-2 and one points behind her Donan staying leader of the mountains classification for now three points of difference between her and Heidi Fran there was an intermediate Sprint in Johnstown 94k in charlotta cool of DSM grabbing the two bonus seconds ahead of one keki still out front she had taken the maximum there 4 Points 3 seconds and after this serious injection of pace in the bunch behind her Co was caught 5K from the start of the horsey pass climb with 35k left to race the peleton hared a number on the lower slopes of it and eventually two Riders went clear towards the top it was race leader L keki and Anna Henderson of the Great Britain national team a group of nine Chasers including vikto Gilman and two of her s Melle mavic teammates in there also Lizzy D and Ellena Barker of GB plus Laur renoise and Letizia pansta ketki was first over the top 10 Queen of the mountain points for her nine for Henderson the chase group behind them growing to 12 in number with alen Jansen and DSM Duo Abby Smith and F for Georgie getting across but the Gap now out over a minute Ki tried to drop Henderson on a rise in the road in manura coming round and accelerating trying to get a jump on her companion but Henderson was wived to the move and staying with the wheel of the world champion the chase group growing in number with each passing kilometer on the gradual descent from the highest point of the race towards the city of rexam the lead pair holding 40 seconds with 8K to race just after keki had that little dig the duo stuck together into the city center the chase group 400 met behind them on the road Henderson was sitting on through the flam Rouge into the last 150 M that’s where keki up to the Pace Henderson trying to kick and come round with 100 to go but she was not outpacing the world champion from there Lorena Weis was sprinting for third 15 seconds later there’s daylight between her and the rest Pat in fourth Georgie fifth Sarah Roy in sixth van P to Baker in seventh Talbert e8th D in ninth Jon in 10th keki now leads GC by 17 seconds from Henderson P noers third at 34 it’s 27 points to kety 164 pton oer in the battle for the red jersey D stays Queen of the mountains stays in white tomorrow’s thirdd stage is hosted by Warrington it starts and finishes on sanki street outside those Famous Golden Gates of the town hall there’s a pair of cat three climbs in the middle of the stage it’s pill and shrigley Road they come after 42 and 55 km respectively but from 40K out it’s a pretty flat run in it should be one for the bunch Sprint it’s 12 wins in the last 13 Women’s World Tour stages for Death Star Works can anyone stop Loren weebies over Saturday and Sunday we shall find out from the north of Wales to the south of France and the Criterium de do stage six the first summit finish of the race kicking off a long weekend of pain for any sprinters still left in the race which naturally brings me to the elephant in the room after yesterday’s disastrous final 25k for the majority of the pelaton 14 of yesterday’s starters not signing on this morning a mixture of dnfs yesterday and overnight effects from the crashes those 14s Steven chwick and Dylan Van Bala of visma Lisa bike like they can afford to lose any more men ahead of the tour adne halter and odd Christian iing of unox Mobility not signing on today Harry Sweeney and Lucas Nuka of EF education easy post uh Nuka actually testing positive for covid Sweeny going home as well with uh respiratory problems uh not testing positive for covid though apparently it’s unrelated though yes camel gradek and jasher suin of barin Victorious also out and is Remy Rosas of group FJ Milan Menton of Lotto Destiny he actually abandoned yesterday before those late crashes I think it was something unrelated Axel maral of kofus Lawrence whiz of AR BNB hotels kby gon of intermar w and Wan Uso of UAE team Emirates he was eighth on GC at the start of day at 127 so of those Riders remaining in the race for Remco ort of sud quickstep leading GC by 33 seconds over Primos rugit of borans grower Mato yenson of visma Lisa bike is third at 104 Derek G of Ip at 111 and Oya laano of maristar 121 roog glitch in the points Jersey Jorgenson borrowing the white Young Riders Jersey from Evo Mattis Lear of Aria BNB is the king of the mountains he has a healthy 18 point lead 21 available today one and five over the two categorized climbs and 15 at the Finish today’s stage 174 km from hotar they Head East Via lot s Andre and Lake Pal Drew onto the Cat 2 9k long 6% C de graner and onto a finishing climb of Le de alad it’s 11k long 8 and a half% to finish the stage six-man break early on then we had stage two winner Magnus Court of youo X the runner up on stage three of Roman greguar of fdj he’s the best place of the lot on GC it’s at 253 with them you had tibo gelc of Aria Ian livens of Lte Destiny Mason hollyman of Ip and Alexandro fanel of q36.5 pro cycling they had 3 minutes by the time of the first climb of the day that was the Cat 4 coat s Andre is 30k in gelc taking the single point on off at its Summit and they continued rolling on towards the intimate Sprint in Le shell that was 105k in and after half that distance the Gap had gone out to over 5 minutes it was caught from fanello and greguar through that intermediate and then onto the climb of C de graner gwel with the points and just outside 40K to go hollyman and gwc overcooked it on the Steep descent but both back on board hollyman the last you climbed back on gwel got back in gap 345 at this point but Mason hollman’s time in the break was over he looks unaffected just uh slow slow to react and obviously a bit stiff and the wind had gone out of his sails 30k from home with the five up the road an absolute shocker as the lead cars police motos and the five men in the break miss a a 90 degree left carrying straight on and go of course under UCI regulations it’s purely a racing incident so a quick U-turn no pause of anyone um the time lost is simply time lost tough tits and they were eventually pointed in the right or indeed left direction of the race 340 was the reged time Gap at the moment it happened 25k from home that was 240 they lost a minute at the foot of Le de alad the lead quintet had 155 over the bunch as they wriggled through the town and crossing a bridge onto that 11 km long snaking Road up to the finish line that Gap dissolved in a heartbeat in your at the front of the bunch Rodriguez and four lieutenants big and strong Josh Tarling doing the donkey work pulling him up the lower slopes be mind this climb is literally all at 8% little Trek losing former inos man Tao gagen Hart early on in the climb his leg simply went pop so leaving them to work for Julio Chone Matt pedon was the last man standing as his bodyguard meanwhile Roman Greg was having a little dig in the front trying to shake off Court he that was his second attack he had already gapped gwc livens and fanelli those three had slipped 30 seconds behind the front two the bunch were hot on their heels and they gathered them quickly Matthew Jorgenson then found himself isolated after losing the support of cous madas was also a victim of the 8% gradient leaving David galdo with much to do on his own Court was grabbed 5K out with Lawrence Theo of inos then kicking from the GC group to hunt down Roman greguar Alexander vlasov of Bora jumped across the Gap 20 Riders are so now in the group of favorites he had Jorgenson COV Solair RIT hindley evapo Lander Chone brago he Carlos Rodriguez qu Kowski martan laano Romo Christian Rodriguez mes scotson Tada and G deplo and vlasov came over and around greguar who was suffering healthfully from a nose bed so it was either the altitude or like me had eaten too many bags of crisps GC Riders were burning through some of their matches in the second group on the road behind these two new leaders at the front as greguar quickly found himself sliding backwards Chone then kicked RIT following Jorgenson getting involved Carlos Rodriguez going with the white jersey of Jorgenson evapo not making the move over and sitting at the back of the GC Group which was thinning out slightly Chone kicked again at 3K to go Derek G got over to him he came around and now you had a group of five chasing vlasov and deplo group three is the evole group he still had the company of Lander they were down to 12 in that group so the two out front were 2K from the top that’s Vaso and Deo rogl in the chase group behind them pulling the five over to dplo and vlasov so he had two Bora men there two inos and then the Bora pair put the hammer down as Blas off pulled a monster turn into the final kilometer Julio tonei the only r able to stay with them as the two inos men faded 5 Seconds was the gap between the front three and the four behind them at the flam Rouge Evol and Co were at 28 seconds until Lander pulled a huge turn for his teammate and then through the flam Rouge evle kicked the leaders were already 200 meters up the road or so but it was his job from now in the final 500 M due to clawback anytime he could vof was done at the 300 met board RIT passed and then kicked to the line from 150 M Chone was left in his wake Prim much Rit riding to the stage win and the GC lead for Bor H grower Chone was second vlasov just holding off Derek G for third G in fourth then Jorgenson ahead of dplo and Rodriguez Evol came home at 42 seconds down in eighth and Jack ha brought home the rest of the GC group J hindley completing the top 10 so RIT into yellow as Evo slips off the top step 19 seconds the the gap between them Jorgenson stays third he’s at 58 then G at 101 vlasoff in fifth at 132 in the points of classification rogl extends his lead it’s out to five but it’s now from Jone who Leap Frog Jorgenson so the Italian will wear green tomorrow matis laar stays King of the mountains he has nine points ahead of RIT Evol will now wear white as the best young Rider difference between him and joranson is 39 seconds tomorrow’s penultimate stage takes the Riders to the summit of s after 155 km of riding from alvil there are three cat one climbs to tackle ahead of that final all category climb those cat 3es are C SE kod Ares and codel Ras they’re all 7% averages and they are 106 and 14k in length respectively the final climb up to SN up to, 1600 m above sea level it’s 10K at a solid 9% from chartr to Catalonia and the second edition of the vaa feminine at catalunia 2.1 stage race won last year as a one day race by CLA Steels of Ip Roland she came home 50 seconds ahead of the solo Chaser Clara kenberg of kofidis with the bunch 45 seconds behind her it’s a three-stage race now today beginning with 100 km out and back to man rasa they loop around the Sid de Casta tala mountain range that overlooks Barcelona two categorized climbs but several Punchy inclines as they spend much of the day about 700 M above sea level it’s an absolutely stacked start list don’t forget this clashes with the tour Britain and this is where a lot of the big names were already penciled in for on the start list here at Catalonia Mariana Vos Rihanna Marcus and fem van emple with Vima Lisa CES utri Ludwig aita music and Grace Brown with fdj Suz Alena Sierra Olivia baru and Emma noar with mistar Elena harmund anak Hofer Natalie Eckland with Roland Ashley Morman Sarah Gigante and kimbery Pina of AG insurance Kine alud M bondal aad and Suzanne Anderson with unit X I mean usually I just pick out five or six Riders but this is absolutely rammed also in there sedine kbal of sahit Hannah Ludwig of kis Alice towers of Canyon Ram Lauren Stevens of sinisa amate Farine of ARA 20 teams 122 Riders 283 km details limited on this one I was trying to find some coverage apparently it was live on three cats but it simply never loaded for me so I’ve just been pulling this together from social media unfortunately Maggie Cole’s list abandoned after 33 km with a bunch still together but to come the upper slopes of cuap penos the bunch was much reduced in number with visma Lisa bike doing much of the work at the front though it was AG sudal who attacked the summit and Justine Geier took the three points over the top M Trias of Massi Bay attacked solo on The Descent but her move was neutralized by the bunch with unit X and agal controlling the pace P LED Brown and marus through the intermediate Sprint in kalaf 35k from home 321 bonus seconds from them in order and it was all still together as they approach cord palz AG once again active up the front and Geier doubled up on the climbs another three points for her that stealed the Mountain’s Jersey and then so began a 20 km descent through the hills past cany defal and back to Mana where they started it all came back together for a bunch Sprint and taking the win quite deservedly for a team that were dominant all day was Ali walliston of AG sudal on the lunch from aranos of visma Lisa bike third was Arena Sierra of mistar clearly beaten by the front to Fourth Victoria guini of FJ and fifth was Lisa Minaj of kofidis tomorrow’s second stage runs over 96 km from lassu De oel and heads due east pretty much climbing from the off as they steadily Ascend to colada Dees it’s a climb that’s officially 21 km in length it’s only 3 and 1 half% average but it is a steady 3 and a half all the way up it it peaks 64k in then they drop down through the town of alp and then begin an 11k climb up to the finish in lolina it’s very much a two-part climb the first half is over 7% as a fce flat it kicks back up drops down for a coup K and then it’s a final 1800 met kick to the line it’s about 8% to the Netherlands and stage three of five at the zlm tour in Zealand with shinell hosting the start and booken the finish of today’s pancake 179 km route between the two towns in a route heading due south from one to the other VI Aston and we run herot of inter Mar Wy with a 12 second advantage over gleb CIT of aana at the start of the day second place last night was Tim van djk of visma Lisa bike but he was a non-starter suffering effects of a crash late yesterday I tuned in with 70k to go and you had four men up the road wesle Maurice of metx solo who won the final stage at the peace race last weekend he was in the break of four in the best Young Riders jersey with Peter schulting of diar Continental Martin renberg of parkk hotel valkenberg and Tean icing of beat cycling who was first through the intermediate in summer and 70k in they had a gap of 2 minutes and they were still 30k from the first passage of the Finishing Line to start two local laps of 18K ahead of the Bell icing sat up and waited for the bunch leaving the other three away into the final lap with 4K to race they had 30 seconds over a bunch who were rapidly closing in on them an injection of pace in the trio as they cross the MUA river that marks the border between Belgium and the Netherlands Al controlling the pace on the bunch AIA now starting to move up in the final 2K as with py Keta and as the front three pass the flam Rouge the bunch were barely 60 M behind them it was quite a technical running you had a 90° left then a 90° right alerson still leading the bunch but it looked like whoever was their second wheel just lost it slightly as their front lead out man had a gap of like 20 M or so behind the rest and he just couldn’t drag the back over um they were past the 50 me board with the front three and they stayed away by 10 m or so the break making it to the line you must wonder what Tean icing was thinking if he had have stayed in that group would he have bagged himself a Podium position anyway a win for Peter schulting of diar Continental the oldest rider in the race a 10th career win for him the third at one level a second for Martin rasenberg of Park Hotel valkenberg third was wessell Morris of metx solw points leader cman van Udin of DSM the fastest finisher in the bunch but sad only fourth place Simon deir of alberon in fifth they are probably having a bit of a an or topsy or a postmortem looking at what went wrong in that lead out train whether their first man just pulled too hard or their second man just simply lost the wheel anyway Mike turnon of inter maray was sixth run herot stays the GC leader but it’s Max Walker of aana who moves into second place he’s at 22s Tom Bley of chuda procycling is third at 25 tomorrow’s stage four starts and ends in Randal it’s 196.7 k in length it crosses the oester dam and through a cobbled sector in Huga they go twice around that large lap then there’s two finishing circuits and to Switzerland and the 60th edition of grossa priesta canton’s Aral formerly known as the GP ging gun starting and finishing in the town of lern on the banks of the river rine east of Basel and Northwest of aork a warmup for the torto S which gets underway on Sunday of the 156 Riders on the start list today 76 six of them due to start Tour to or 76 of them confirmed to start Tour TOS anyway as ARA Bahrain Bora cofis cor EF fdj inter maret Jaco little Trek Lotto Destiny q36.5 Tuda Pro UAE voralberg and the Swiss National Team all have a dress rehearsal making up the numbers today felber Lotto kous mg kavis pns metal Technic santic wech and sourland oh sorry I’ve missed one off and XB United sorry Finn Pickering with bar R Harrison wood with kofus James Shaw with ef Josh goller with ftj Ben Granger with mg kavis Jacob Scott with saand and Matty King with xeed the British Riders on the race xeed also have Irish jro Matty Domin and Leo Doyle and the champion of Granada Red Waters whose house I walked past today on route to pick up a parcel because dpd couldn’t find my house anyway right there we go four small laps around the town before they then tackle seven laps over the 20 km circuit that goes over the 7K long rotberg CL time it starts at 7% into a false flat and then punches up again in the final 2K to the top at 6% that drops straight into the base of the schmidberger up to the line is about a 200 M ramp seven laps of that it’s a total just shy of 174 km to sort the men from the boys the parkour appropriately looking a bit like a toone after 1 Ascent of the rotberg an hour of race ring in their legs there were six up the road two from xeed kristo Jansen and Leo Doyle Michael kler of felt felber Johan Jacobs of the Swiss national team Yan stockley of corek and Sebastian neus of saand a capap 2 minutes over the bunch that included the previous two winners of the race tibon n of little Trek and Mark Hershey of UAE team Emirates Hershey having the company of 2022 Junior European Champion Yan Kristen who was born in the start and finish town after 100K race and another three times over the rberg the six in the front had become five with noos dropping out at the front of the race the Gap had been down below a minute but it was back out to two ahead of the fifth Ascent of that climb this was the climb that broke the break though Doyle stockley and Jansen caught by the bunch leaving Michael kler and yoham Jacobs just dangling in front of a train being dragged Along by Bor H grower and they were caught 46k from home on the schmidtberg with two and a half laps to go on the descent from the penultimate climb of rotberg four Riders opening up a gap after it all came back together Sergio Hig of Bora Maro Schmidt of Ja Yan Kristen of UAE and Andrea boli of little Trek ruy Costa was briefly in the group but the EF man couldn’t stick it on the Bell lap and the other four were grabbed as Anthony Perez of cofis charged pass at the front of a strung out peleton and descending began from the rotberg for the final time towards that last kicker of the EP Schmid and the run back into town Mark Hershey absolutely drilling it on that ramp with with Richard carapaz on his wheel and the pair clipped away on The Descent to the flat roads three Riders absolutely buried it to get across Andrea badoli Finn Fisher black and Lorenzo roota and all they did was drag the bunch with them into the final 4K quite technical coming into town Lotto Destiny and little Trek setting the pace as it all came back together EF moving Riders forward with the race snaking through the town and out of nowhere suddenly the Finish Line Maxim van heals of Lotto Destiny with the win Alberto Bal second for EF and third for Roger adrea of Bora hand grower reports immediately afterwards that tibo nce and Andrea bolia had crashed some 200 meters from the line but it seemly was missed by all the live broadcast cameras though I do confess after the first 10 or so cross the line I did immediately switch over but at time of recording looking at the uh recorded finish time today there are some suspicious time gaps from 30th Place onwards we’ll do an update tomorrow if anything seriously significant happened in the rest of the today’s racing then in the order it came in junior time tra wins at the Asian Continental championships in almati winning in the men’s race was n10 Zang of Taiwan with a time of 2656
