hi from roundabout Britain today we’re at chirk Castle in Northeast Wales one of 500 National Trust properties in the UK located in the Welsh marshes in an area of outstanding natural beauty chirk Castle is 7 m south of City Center rexam chirk Castle is situated on the peak of 480 Acres of Parkland we drove about an hour from Liverpool but the website has helpful navigation tips if you are arriving on foot by train bus bike or via the canal the castle is over 700 years old and construction began in the year 1295 it remained a medieval Fortress for about 300 years until it was purchased privately in the year 1595 and since then the castle has been passed down through several generations of family members and Still Remains to be a private residence therefore admission for this particular particular National Trust property includes a portion of the castle the t-o The Gardens and part of the woodlands which in this case was used for some outdoor children’s activities the Castle’s accessibility statement is available on the website and also we did notice that there are shuttles available because there’s quite a steep hill to get up to the castle from the main entrance of the property you do have to call ahead to make sure that those are up and running the day of your visit However unfortunately there is no wheelchair and or step-free access to the castle interior due to time constraints we didn’t get the chance to see the Antiques inside the property however those are all cataloged on the National Trust website admission fees for the castle were £15 per adult £750 for child over the age of five under fives were free and family price was 3750 50 as with many National Trust properties one of the highlights of the visit was touring the 52 Acres of awardwinning [Music] gardens the best part of the day in my opinion was a children’s area with hay to climb on little castles night costumes pretend swords and Welsh Flags there are many perks of having a National Trust membership including discounted entry fees but we used our connection with Starling bank and got in for free I’ll link it below
