Waun Fach Circular Hike

I planned to do the Dragons Back Circular when I left in the morning (hence what I say on the video), but I changed my mind on the way there and decided to do the Waun Fach Circular. Both are situated within the Black Mountain area of the Brecon Beacons. The Waun Fach Circular is a longer trail, but both encompass the Waun Fach mountain which is the highest peak in the Black Mountains range of 811 meters (2660 feet). This was my first use of the DJI Osmo Action 4 which I purchased as a 60th birthday present for myself the day before.. There is a lot of wind noise on a lot of the footage, so I may invest in the DJI Mic 2 for future use to see if that helps.

I parked in a layby in Capel-y-ffin and took the single track road up to the area known as ‘The Tumpa’.

The first Cairn on the video was Twmpa (Welsh Spelling), and also known as Lord Hereford’s Knob, which is a great viewpoint and overlooks Gospel Pass. The Trig Point is the Rhos Dirion, plate #S6587 (waypoint TP5658). The 5th Cairn was Waun Fach and the 6th was Chwarel-y-Fan, before dropping back down to Capel-y-ffin.

Right started my walk for the uh Dragon’s Back Trail circler bre and beacons have a turn you around a start a trail for about 20 25 minutes into the walk gr to go up a hill but still on the single Track Road all the way up can’t wait to get to the uh off the road and onto the tracks show in a minute bye right this is view back down the track a beautiful day at least said it’s going to be raining and windy but not the top yet anything can change at the top of the hills but the view is beautiful on Sunday morning I’m getting a bit of a bit of a sweat on moment might need to take a layer off see how it goes right onwards and upwards [Music] all right at last end of the road now on a track so going carry on straight up there here we go [Music] [Music] is [Music] [Music] should have took the uh lower path nice little waterfall stream of Brook you want to call it over there not going back and carrying on too late never forget to look back where you come from sometimes the beautiful sceny behind you in front of you as well but yeah don’t forget to look back see where you’ve been right the wind’s picked up the temperature dropped this is the first Peak got to get to down the Valley’s right down there there’s where we come from and then we done the first Peak I got to head back and head over up that path top there and then back along maybe way over there and then back down that way see we goes see we feel ler right first stop up there close you get steeper it looks got some steps right I’m going to be uh as they say blowing at me backside in a minute so I’ll put the camera down because you want to hear me chuffing like a train uh video up top by baby one is it C day beautiful that way they got time right put me Hood up if you can hear me doe the wind right in a while Trump protect you for the wind so you can hear me on the way up to the uh the second Hill Turn Around is all right the top number two I think the trick Point here SP the camera around you got a the number that one see you can get it there go carry on carry on that way right get to it right third spool right up there now right I think the Rings going to come in and cl is dropping it’s getting colder next go there done number five Bic CL clear in windy if you can hear me P hope he drop stain see making my way down to the resin this a this new track there a bit foggy and slippery so pause go care show you the res Reservoir when I get there well I got bit of a problem foot path closed I supposed to go straight across and up the other side so I need to find a way around most the waters all right I need to find a way around here right either that way around the reservoir or trying to look down that way so there’s anything down there I guess back to you in a minute right I think I found a route it’s a bit sketchy I need to get to get down there across a little Brook stream thing there you got cameras by those offices but I go around there they got Stones Crossing stream and I to W me way up and then up the embankment back over there right just give it a whirl see how it goes I’ll update you in a minute right I’m over but I got to wait make me way up there that’s steep all right I got to bag all I think all right get on with it right I’m up from down there with the buildings and the embankment seep now I’m up acoss the uh track and make me way up hill and down the other side back the car hopefully right in a minute oh that embanked went took out me legs really feeling it now not far to go just uh was like where it come from at the top down cross the reservoir Dam and up the other s right ex so one more Peak that’s number six and right that’s one heels hopefully now drop down to the car park all down hill now there get back
