Hello, dear friends of the @provisualstock channel! Today, I’m excited to share a different type of video compared to what we’ve previously featured on this channel. This is because many of you have asked about the roads and routes I take to reach certain destinations. So today, I’m launching a new collection (playlist), "Road Reports" featuring car point-of-view videos of the roads I travel to reach my destinations. Generally, it will feature scenic roads, presenting only the road and a view limited to the area covered by the camera’s angle of view. If requested, I may expand this to include comprehensive reports about the road, featuring larger surroundings and possibly other routes besides scenic roads, such as highways, for example. This video is also the first part of a series of three videos over the coming weeks, showcasing some stunning hikes we discovered while exploring the Clarée Valley in the French Southern Alps, near the border with Italy. Our starting point for these hikes was Ricou Refuge, located at an altitude of 2115 meters. On the first day, we drove along the road showcased in this video to reach Camping Fontcouverte, where we parked our car. From there, we embarked on a 1-hour walk through the forest to reach the refuge on foot. This road passes through the authentic rural village of Névache, situated along the Clarée River, from which the region takes its name, Vallée de la Clarée. This stunning natural region boasts incredible hiking trails and landscapes, nestled in the Mont Thabor area, reaching an altitude of 3,178 meters. As you’ll witness in the upcoming episodes, we’ll explore breathtaking high-altitude lakes and ascend to elevations nearing 3000 meters. The road begins at the intersection of National Road N94 with Departmental Road D994G in the village of La Vachette, near the exit from Briançon, the highest city in France at an altitude of 1,326 meters. Before reaching Névache, we pass through several very small villages. This one is Le Rosier in the commune of Val-des-Prés. Along this road, you can stop at several places and buy specific local French cheese specialties. Here, the road is quite narrow, winding between traditional mountain houses and buildings. During the summer, this road is popular among cyclists, hikers, and nature lovers due to the area’s natural grandeur. Vallée de la Clarée has been declared a "Natural Site" since 1992. Here we enter Plampinet, a hamlet of Névache commune with a distinct history and regional importance. In ancient times, due to its location, the place played a role in local commerce and housed some important mills. Here we enter the center of Névache, a mountain commune located in the Hautes-Alpes region of France, spanning altitudes from 1430 m to 3222 m. The locals of Névache dedicate remarkable efforts to preserving their natural surroundings, creating an idyllic environment for tourists and nature enthusiasts to explore and enjoy. Starting from this point, we venture onto a narrow road with only one lane. During our journey, we encountered partial closures due to roadworks. Adhering to strict schedules for passage, we had separate timings for ascending and descending traffic. This stretch of the road offers the most scenic views, culminating at Camping Fontcouverte with breathtaking vistas of the forest and water. Be sure to watch the film until the end to fully appreciate these magnificent sights. There are designated areas along the road where vehicles can stop to allow cars traveling in the opposite direction to pass. These were the areas undergoing roadwork. Workers were repairing a small bridge over a local stream and addressing minor damage to the asphalt. The Camping Fontcouverte is a picturesque spot where you can pitch your tent or park your car to begin a hike or continue on foot to the Refuge Ricou, situated at 2115m altitude, inaccessible by car. We chose the last option and began our hike towards the refuge. As the car stops in the parking lot, the music fades, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural sounds of insects, rivers, and forests, accompanied by refreshing images of the pristine wilderness.
