This video demonstrates the fascinating motion of Hornby’s forthcoming diminutive Locomotion No.1 (00-gauge 4mm scale) model. The real Era 1 prototype was originally designed by Robert Stephenson & Co for the Stockton & Darlington Railway.
I was visiting the brand new Model World Live Exhibition at the NEC & noticed this new model working EP atop a rolling road on the Hornby stand. No one else was viewing it, so I decided to film it quick before others noticed & crowded around.
By holding the camera dead still on the counter top, it has allowed me to sample the motion & achieve a seamless continuous motion. The later accompanying ‘freesound’ steam engine sound, matches the motion cycle very well I think.
