New Shoes & an old school Road Bike!

well hello friends welcome back to another Vlog I hope you’re good it is Friday I don’t do I or do I not have that Friday feeling I’m a bit tired I didn’t get much sleep last night and then I went to um I went swimming and a shortish shorsh gym session this morning um so I’m feeling a bit tired and yeah slightly grumpy maybe but it’s all good and thank you so much for tuning in I hope you’re well it’s lovely to see you all again hey before we continue hit that like and hit that subscribe button it means a lot to me um so yes we are here in my home office working from home today I’ve just got a few things to show you um I’ve got some new cycling shoes now if you follow me on Instagram you would have seen these already um Mark Frost cycling on Instagram I’ll put a link down below but I have not used these yet here they are look at these bad boys they are so flipping all awesome I cannot wait to wear these I’ve been wanting uh red pair of cycling shoes for so long and these came up a few weeks ago in the sale I think from Treads and they were reduced from I think1 130 to 99 so I got those and um yeah I’ve not worn them outside yet but we’ll be wearing them on Sunday because Sunday is the rearranged uh Frosty cycling crew Flatlands Yorkshire group ride um so if any of you legends that are watching can make it on Sunday it’ll be so good to see you so really excited for that it was meant to be last Sunday but the weather is shite as it has been for so long over here in the UK I can’t remember when we last had like sustained sunshine and warm dry weather it’s just been a joke quite frankly I mean today is dry it’s just cloudy and a bit gray but the weather for the next four or five days is meant to be picking up so let’s hope so because I cannot stand any more of this crap weather so new shoes and um because I’ve gone back to well currently on my diverge I’ve gone back to to um spds so I’ve got new pedals obviously have to get the cleats as well I wanted to go back to spds because for the last I don’t know four or five years apart from all my TCR where I use speed play um but they are so expensive um on my diverge and my La I’ve got the um sort of mountain bike uh pedals and cleats but I found that the cycling shoes God I’m waffling on now I found that the cycling shoes I wanted to get like those red ones you couldn’t get them with the mountain bike cleats there just wasn’t the there just doesn’t seem to be the range and the options in colors and styles that kind of thing excuse me so that’s the reason why on my diverge at the moment I’ve reverted back to spds which I started on which I started using when I first started Road cycling back in 2015 any that’s the history lesson so let me take you downstairs and show you the new pedals oh and I’ve got a new um saddle bag that I got a few days ago from an awesome cycling shop in Halifax so I’ll show you that so let’s go here we are down in the basement bike Central I’m sure you’ve seen well for those of you that haven’t seen this is M am’s uh zift setup so that’s mine there’s my TCR I need to get that back out on the road at some stage when there’s some sustained nice weather and there’s as’s uh felt so here’s my diverge she’s looking fan and here are the new or my new Shimano SPD SL pedals which as I say I started using when I first started roadcycling back in 2015 and then went across to the um mountain bike kind of style so I’m really excited to try these out on Sunday and my new shoes and they were I got them from hords they were priced at $34.95 which I thought was really good a really good price so there you go and then look at this saddle bag it’s by uh lazine I don’t know if that’s going to focus but it’s a lazine tiny little saddle bag so you’ve got enough room in there for one maybe two uh inner tubes at a push definitely one in a tube and a multi-tool anyway um so I’ve got that on there and I haven’t used a saddle bag for years um I also have got the um T kit in the uh bottle cage thing anywh who so yeah that’s the um they’re the upgrades if you like that I’ve fitted to the diverge so can’t wait to ride on Sunday and as you can see I’ve got the fum I’ve got my FM uh road wheels on there so they are looking fine with the Goodyear Eagle F1 tires so it’s all good friends we will say hello to as she’s just gone out to the dentist so when she’s back will say hi to her um she’s currently she currently can’t run because after she came back from CH and Slovakia she had a rib injury um she got she’s torn some cartilage and sort of muscle behind the rib so she’s she’s not allowed to run for 6 weeks and she’s just doing some gentle swimming and the odd gentle zift ride at the moment um to keep her kind of ticking over and not aggravate the injury so we’ll say hello to her later when she’s back I just wanted to show you this bike now this is a bike that belongs to one of our good friends Bonnie she is doing her very first triathlon I think in a couple of weeks this is a secondhand bike she got from a a cycling charity shop here in Halifax or actually it was saby Bridge just down the road but anyway um she brought it over yesterday I’m going to give it a clean up and she was having trouble with the gears so I am going to um just adjust the gears and make sure they’re running smoothly that kind of thing and just give it a good wipe over for her so it’s all running smoothly for her very first triath just to give you a quick update on the Dave Ferguson or the dayve um I’ve cleaned the wheels they’ve come up so nice and um I’ve just given it a general clean I’ve tested the gears they all seem to be shifting absolutely fine there Rie tip tapping away hi extreme closeup Reggie it’s got three um sprockets at the front I don’t even think they called sprocket I think Sprocket was the name of the dog in fragle rock wasn’t it um but yeah it’s proper old school bike it’s got the um it’s got the brake levers there as well on the bars as well as there obviously um yeah so giv it a bit of a clean tested the gears it it seems to be running absolutely F and there’s Maisy moo say hi Maisy clever girl it’s got the Shimano tagra 9-speed cassette on the back there’s the mech there so hopefully for uh Bonnie’s first Tri on I think it’s a Sprint distance that she’s doing and the dayve Ferguson should be absolutely fine oh my days who doesn’t have a bit of Phil Collins come on Phil bang it out hey so I should say it’s the next day Saturday now just jumped on zwift I mean the weather is bloody G gorgeous outside but we’ve been out what’s the time now it’s nearly 400 p.m. we’ve been out all day in Halifax and over in Brig housee they’ve had this 1940s like Street Celebration I guess you’d say it’s on tomorrow as well where they have loads of stalls and 1940s inspired bands that kind of thing and we got the bus there back which was so cool rather than driving cuz parking would have been a bloody nightmare anyway so I thought just jump on zift ases has just gone down to the supermarket and then she’s getting on Swift as well and then tomorrow I’ve got the FCC yorkshi Flatlands ride which I’m so excited about here she is hi I said to uh camera our friends I said to um the viewers yesterday our friends that you were at the dentist yesterday oh yes and I showed well as you as you have seen in this Vlog earlier I’ve showed them Bonnie’s bike oh yeah B but there’s a story behind Bonnie’s bike because you donated one of your old mountain bikes so my first proper mountain bike I have had since I was in my about 20 and I love it and I I really I’m attached to it my friend Bonnie has been really good to me and she started Tron and she’s got a mountain bike that isn’t anyway I saw a bike for her in the local charity bike place they help people with bike 20b bikes to get kids to school and all these things anyway her bike was in there I saw it it was it was a little bit more than she could afford so I kind of went behind her back and prob exchanged my mountain bike so that she could get the bik PED rooms because I think FCC have helped me with so much free bits and pieces that they don’t need anymore I just kind of pay it forward so I ped my most precious bike said that she could start her traveling dreams which is amazing doesn’t make me amazing it makes it amazing that she would do that and I’ve got this pay forward attitude part partly because of all the wonderful people that have helped me of which you guys including my brother who will be watching my dentist Compadre um you’ve all helped me so much metaphorically in person and with stuff without you guys I would have died on Sherman a long time ago so brilliant so yeah that’s what I did but awesome cool so I’ll let you know Bonnie gets on you don’t know Bonnie but you’d love her she’s brilliant P size pocket rocket there’s mini moons there’s Reggie he’s having a good sniff around how’s everyone how is everyone can we have in the comments how you all doing because we we love the comments I’m very rarely on the comments but we love the comments I read them all and what would be really good is if you tell us what ride did you do this weekend and if you didn’t ride who stopped you we want to know cuz you’re not doing the FCC ride tomorrow I’m not I’m I’m proper injured so sorry I’ve been on towi now I’ve just done 24 miles so I’m going to get off because I need to save my legs for tomorrow’s FCC ride so as is jumping on she’s going to do just 2 minutes 20 minutes it’s hour yeah 20 minutes L what so hey thank you all so
