Do you think the original doors are below ground level, beneath the current doors which are accessed by the 2 steps up? The steps to todays doors confirms that it was easier to add 2 steps rather than alter the doorway directly below it, now hidden by the steps?
Amazing. Would the underground level show here have been the cellars that poor people lived in 200 years ago? I'm wondering if owners rent these level out these days.
