    we’ll start the video comparing arm size to leg size yeah I know oh forearms bigger forearms bigger than his quad the Tour of France is the toughest sporting event on the planet so it follows that cyclist must therefore be some of the fittest humans on the planet but also crossfitters lay claim to being some of the fittest humans on the planet strength speed and power are all words that describe them but also Cy ists really well we’re going to find out who’s fitter a cyclist or a crossfitter and what would happen when a cyclist tries CrossFit bit hard sorry mate representing the world of CrossFit I have managed to get hold of an absolute machine Zack George known commonly as Silverback he is one of the world’s top CrossFit athletes and was officially the UK’s fittest man back in 2020 he’s competed in the world’s top CrossFit competitions and is also a gladiator AKA Steel on the flip side representing all our cyclist is Sai Yep this guy Sai is a cyclist through and through hey SC have you done any other sports [Music] uh no don’t be modest I know you’ve been working on your press ups and pull-ups yeah yeah you might even surprise us all mate now go get changed right then so before we’re allowed to ride bikes what have we got what CrossFit are you going to put me through we have got a classic female workout called Cindy every CrossFit has probably been cind in their lifetime it is you ready what’s a female workout sorry uh it’s a work out there’s certain benchmarks so if you’re in bodybuilding people go what’s your bench press in CrossFit people go what’s your Cindy time what’s your friend time so there staple workouts that every crossfitter has done and it’s like your benchmark of Fitness for CrossFit oh cool okay so this is a 20 minute am wrap am wrap stands for as many rounds as possible okay and you’ve actually got your advantage okay cuz you’re a lot lighter than I am yeah all right so you’ve got an advantage cuz it’s a body weight workout so you should you should be yeah all right feeling more confident now so as many rounds in 20 minutes okay five pull-ups 10 press UPS yeah full range chin to floor arm straight and then 15 squats this a workout where it it can be easy but it can be extremely hard if you push the pace so some of the top boys will be getting if they’re a decent body weight probably 30 plus rounds if they’re a lighter athlete wow so maybe if you get for a target of maybe 18 plus I’ll set you a high Target 18 plus rounds time 18 * 5 okay this is going to make all all the difference how you feeling s quick how you feeling I’m absolutely like I’m not really terrified in the sense that I can see that how crap I am already just more slightly embarrassed and I feel like I’m letting you guys down representing cyclist worldwide despite being so anyway do you do you know what you’re going to like how far do you reckon you’ll get or how many circuits do you reckon you’ll do cuz he’s set you as 18 my leg well I mean if you can get me another band I reckon I’ll be all right I’ll jump in with another bandug that’s 180 press UPS the first test CrossFit versus cyclist who is going to take all who really is the ultimate athlete um to what we’re going to find out real short I’m going to hit the stopwatch 20 minutes is going to progress up against these two Titans skinny cyclist versus the silver back three two one pull up first straight into it Zach’s got the butterfly pull up a CrossFit technique aiming to smash it oh five already done onto the Press UPS slight struggling with the elastic band uh but five pullups done nonetheless so Zach’s onto the squats already s still slowing up on the Press UPS struggling on rep five don’t make me laugh so just to keep count it’s 15 it’s 15 squats 15 15 squats now sigh sigh just completed after a minute he’s completed the first round I feel like I’m going to have to dive in and help him in a minute cuz stop I’m really struggling yeah now side just completing the second well done s you’re on the second on your third rep now come on man right this is uh highly embarrassing for all our cyclist how do you think to do 18 uh I’m not sure he’s still on two Zach’s just about to complete his fifth stop off oh jeez stop off S hurry up I don’t know if I can watch look at our scoreboard our skinny cyclist has just managed to complete three Zach George has just completed his seventh so hasn’t done five it’s been 8 minutes while Zach George is on coming up to his finishing his 13th round this is incredibly incredibly embarrassing for us like this but how long is it taking in just to do these set press I don’t know because he’s SP majority of the Ty on his knees I got to say this is my PB for press UPS so I’m kind of happy in a way [Music] come on come on it’s hard to deal with Hank’s disappointment at the same time as my own personal grief come on yes nice you got 90 seconds let’s go let’s go let’s go 90 seconds up up up up up P push push P keep going keep going keep going all the way to the end side yes nice 5 4 3 2 one fair play Zach that was Unreal what was that 31 32 31 and like you like you just got to the squats oh PB nice PB 10 Kil heavier w z the silver back PB unreal 31 and literally three quarters into like into 31 so just missed out on the squats so let’s call it 32 s PB PB our skinny cyclist um struggled on rep one and uh kind of struggled throughout but nevertheless didn’t really stick with it um scaled it was a scaled workout scaled workout yeah said that he did seven um Z Zach’s uh Zach was hoping he would get 18 you know that’s that’s feel like I’ve let everyone down guys yeah just I think my expectation of cyclist was a lot higher the next event the ramp test now this should favor sigh our resident cyclist but how will our crossfitter get on well only time will tell they’re both aboard the static bikes we’re going to do a classic ramp test and basically it’s go till you die you ready mate yeah 3 2 1 let’s go how’s your body feel genuinely I’m struggling mate mine’s press I’m struggling to hold myself we got to stare each other out bro I mean I think I lost that about long ago mate I can’t help but look at Z and just wonder like what my life could have turned out like if I decided not to go into and you know CrossFit instead maybe I maybe I’d look like that right you got 20 seconds and I’m going to build you up a level steal the Silver B you fit number [Music] two right we’re on level five now halfway we’re on 8 minutes wattage it’s looking pretty good on both sides at this point in the Cindy I was basically lying on on the floor trying to do one pushup at a time so the fact I’m still in the game yeah feels pretty good let’s go Zach George come on come on bud dig in now dig in this is yours for the taking come on buddy we’re into level8 out of 10 oh come on bud dig in dig in pal put on Sor s 416 WS let’s go up up up keep that Cadence keep hitting that 85 so you droping that Cadence build it back up M if you can 85 we’re looking for go on mate D give in keep it 85 it’s a proper head head this is a proper Jewel right here we go into level 9 I feel like a torture Master genuinely I want to be doing it myself but I can’t come on mate dig in come on keep up there keep up there mate keep up right last level [Music] go he’s building go on Z on all the way mate 10 seconds to go 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 holy oh my God he’s an animal that was incredible man that was real you smashed that no no you smashed it I me know I did it right but you abely killed it I think uh I’ve just always had a good mental strength so from the start I knew I was going to drop after you but there’s no question he just going to get it done damn [Applause] it oh well mate that is unbelievable so I guess we need to ask the question now now I mean who won who is the fittest so in the first one the first one was close you probably got that didn’t you you edged it just but I think only about about 18 rounds so not too much yeah and no more than that was it cuz I only did seven and you did 32 okay I’ll was try just make you feel bit to 25 rounds more yeah okay and then and then the cycling challenge which you know is my specialty my forte yeah you won I do want to say I’m 30 kils heavier though so I feel like I had an advantage on that that is very kind of you to say it really is but no I mean genuinely right I knew in the cross element you were going to be amazing but I was genuinely like taken back at how impressive that is but then on the bike I thought I would probably have the edge but I can’t believe how much power you were still putting out having done 300 squats more than me yeah I think cuz CrossFit at the top level we just our job is to be as fit as possible and I think we just take that to another level we have to do so many different elements in CrossFit like power output stuff endurance stuff Sprint stuff so we really do build like an all around Fitness level um and I was probably within the CrossFit world I was probably one of the best on machines so when you said that test secret I was like oh yeah okay well that’s cool I’m normally the best at this and to be fair you were one of the best in the world at CrossFit at that and and I was not the best in the world at cycling so you know but still no genuinely huge thanks absolute pleasure you boys have been awesome to to train with and i’ love every second of it cool we get sing CrossFit you reckon I think we can uh make a CrossFit out you yeah yeah yeah I’m game gen go back in and start again should we wait till tomorrow wait till tomorrow cuz I feel the fact I couldn’t support my own body weight on a bike it’s probably a bad you can’t see is something is holding his body up from     1. Too much muscle needs a lot more oxygen, the crossfire might be stronger but is endurance won't be anything like the a PRO Cyclist, they put up a top crossfire against a amateur cyclist if that

    2. I know this is entertainment and not all that serious but it would have been more interesting and fair if it didn’t include tests that obviously caters the CrossFit guy. For instance the second test should have been a hill climb or a 1h ftp-test.

      Other than that good work and an impressive performance on both of you 👍🏼😺

    3. Interesting but do think the tests could have been designed in a way allow for better comparision.
      1. The AMRAP workout should not include excercises where technique is a huge advantage. There is a lot of complains about the pullups Zack perform. I think they are just part of the crossfit world, but also something that Si are not capable of performing. Either swap excercise or restrict them to controlled pullups.
      2. The bike test should end up with power output in some form, so we somehow can get a sense of W/kg

    4. Fun video! I do Crossfit and include some Zwifting and road cycling. I get bottom ranks in the 2.5-3.2 Watt/kg and Zack mentioned he'd get beat on a hill workout. GCN was being kind to the guest – Si knows he could win in a road race. Just like Zack didn't program the Diane Workout or DT for Si. However, I'm surprised by the hate on Crossfit and lack of education around fitness racing movement standards. The pullups were fine while the pushups and squats were shortened range of motion and mostly no reps, technically speaking (chest to ground and hip crease below parallel, respectively). Zack was emphasizing speed for show – he'd still get 20+ with perfect movement standards. Most cyclists would enjoy a bit of CrossFit in their training (rowing, running, bodyweight workouts) so give it a try 😄🙌 and please chill in the comments – we all love sports!

    5. Crossfit athlete fitter then a cyclist doing crossfit workouts = obviously. Take him for a ride, he wouldn't last 2 minutes. Crossfit athletes aren't fit, they are fit for crossfit that's all.

    9. should have done a W/kilo test of some kind… a hill, or W/kg ramp test, rather than gross power. cycling is all about transporting your own body up and down a race course, not just who can produce most power…the cross fit dude is confident enough, would prob agree to it and get smoked

    10. I counted 0 pullups on Zack's side. And even by CF standards his squats (below! Parallel) and pushups (chest to ground) were highly questionable.

      I get if the CF crowd optimizes some sport specific exercises, but don't call it a pullup or general fitness test if you're doing flopping fishes on the bar.

      The performance doesn't fit the cocky attitude.

    11. I'm fully in support of cross-training, because lifting promotes strong bones and is generally useful in life, but CrossFit is kinda preposterous. That style pull-up is all on momentum and is a huge strain on shoulder joints – eww. CrossFit competitive styles and less adherence to good form opens them up to a lot more injuries than general good weightlifting/bodyweight training does. No thanks.

      Si – saplings are beautiful, and you got mega roots of legs. You're more aerodynamic. Sure, if you so desire, work on more upper body stuff at some point for sake of when you need to carry your bicycle or child around, and open jars of sauce, but don't feel like a lesser athlete. You're a different athlete than a lifter. 🙂 Get Zach out for a long hilly ride and you'll have better longevity and feel better at the end of the day – that's what your training got you, and it lets you see the great outdoors more!

      However…. I do want a "lifting + cycling" style event, instead of stuff like triathlons (eww, wet). Inspired by cyclist-paramedics perhaps? Riding with a load, able to lift people in need?
