good morning welcome to day eight episode 8 I suppose I should call them now it’s um yeah probably day 10 of the tour so this will be episode 8 anyhow as you can see I’m in the wet weather gear sitting under this lovely Broly at the moment keeping myself dry it’s about 7:00 qu 7 and I’m about to set off for what is going to be a very wet day I’ve just had a look at the weather radar and there is nothing but rain for about 60 70 m in every direction right can’t put it off any longer let’s go and do some miles and I’ll bring you back if when I can depending on the weather [Music] right I’m going to try and use this into the 3601 I imagine that the sound is absolutely terrible but at least there’ll be some pictures the camera’s waterproof I can’t get the other one out absolutely take it down I’m about 5 miles outside the rain’s not making up it’s just getting harder and harder I think I’m going to make see [Music] what another night indoors [Music] T be wonderful on a h sunny summer day [Music] is [Music] [Music] EX [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] just stop for 5 minutes Under This Little Shelter it’s like a bus stop for the ferry that’s just coming across there well it still hasn’t stopped raining I’ve been riding now for a couple of hours two 2 and 1 half hours I suppose and uh yeah it’s rained the whole time I expected it today when I got up this morning I saw the forecast and that’s the way it is I won’t be going as far as what I thought I would though it have been a better day I would have gone further but I’m going to stop in Bon this afternoon it’ll be quite enough I think it’s supposed to be a better day tomorrow so we can do some extra miles then as for today as always there won’t be a lot of filming unfortunately I just cannot get this camera wet there’s the ferry the Rin Schwan oh I better make a move in a moment I suppose I’m already soaked through so I can’t get any wetter well it’s now much later in the day as you can see I’m off the trke oh I’ve booked into another hotel just back there and I’m just off out for food so I thought I might as well have a chat with you guys whilst I’m on my way I’m actually going to go over that bridge behind me there so there we go so I made it as far as bon bon is just under 40 km from where I started this morning and it rained every single cenm of the way so as I say I booked myself into a hotel just up there I had really had enough by the time I got to bomb and it then rained for several more hours after that so I think I made the right decision but the whole day was a mistake really wasn’t it so I checked the weather when I woke up this morning and it said it’s going to rain so what did I do I went out to cycle anyhow and that was just silly I’m not in any rush I’m here to enjoy myself and I decide to go out in the rain oh some nice views over there [Applause] so yeah here we are anyhow I’m in Bon but uh I made a mistake didn’t I the mistake was is uh riding in the rain I don’t need to do that I’m in no rush and I kind of spoiled the day I spoiled the day because one I didn’t really enjoy it that much and two I didn’t get to record it I didn’t get to record it for you guys and I didn’t get to record it for myself in the future so all I have is my memories of that one won’t be doing that again lesson learned lesson [Music] learned so just to finish today off then we’re on a bridge we’re not in a tent but you’re going to have 2 minutes anyhow Tim’s 2minute Testament from the Tabernacle thanks for that one Leo it’s quite difficult to say actually but I did it first time so the 2 minutes today about the tennis tires that I had on triny these are all the teas aren’t they Tanner tires on triny yes uh somebody asked had I removed them yes I have they came off a triny quite some time ago I realized that there was some rolling resistance on the tires and don’t get me wrong they’re a good tire and they have a purpose but I think that purpose is for your short distance shopping trip or commute into town for work whatever but the tires are definitely for short distances they’re not for uh long distance touring certainly nothing like what I’m on at the moment you want as Little Resistance as you can possibly get so yes the Tannis tires have gone and we’re back to the Schwalbe marathons Marathon tour I think I think that’s what I’ve got on the back no that’s wrong what I’ve got on the back is the marathon tour plus the marathon tours are on the front the 220 in on the front was that about 2 minutes I think so anyway as always if you’ve got any more questions or would like me to discuss anything about my kit the trike where I’m going where I’ve been ask away in the comments below otherwise I’ll see you guys tomorrow for hopefully a drier day it’s certainly dried up now so uh there we go is this I’ll see you tomorrow s [Music] down I [Music] n [Music]

    1. Guten Morgan – It's been nice and warm here mate, bit breezy though…lol. Garstang today, 40km? about that. Knees hurt, shoulders ache, feet hot, head hot and bitten t' buggery! Where tomorrow? Slaidburn I think over the Trough from me. I have some butterfly bars I should get around to adding.

    2. Well that was a short ride my friend. Rain can really wear on you, that's for sure. Even so, tours like this are an experience, both good and bad. Hopefully in years to come you'll look at the overall of this one fondly.

Speaking of weather, we had some here of the severe variety back on May 30. I'll detail that on the email I'm going to send you shortly.

Yes, the 360 cam has its uses, but good sound isn't one of them. I too generally restrict using it to on the road shots with music sans dialogue. Are you still using the old Canon as your primary camera?

Talk soon via email. Safe travels as always my buddy!

    3. Really felt your pain on this one. No wonder you had the road to yourself. Love the music choice I found it quite relaxing. Heres wishing you sunnier days ahead. Thanks Tim. Stay safe.

    4. Lovely weather 🦆Are you finding it easy to get a pitch, or a hotel room without booking ahead. At least you weren't cycling near the road, getting sprayed by passing traffic (happy thought for today)

    5. Hi Tim,
What a bummer. I find when it is raining I get wetter on the trike than on a normal bicycle.
I admire you still can make some jokes about your situation. I hope you had the worse by now and it only gets better from now on.
The original tires on my ICE sprint were Schwalbe Tryker. They are good but I found they where very vulnerable for punctures (especialy the sidewalls). So I replaced them with a Schwalbe 365 in the back for better grip on slippery surfaces (grass and mud) and Schwalbe marathon in the front. They are heavier and not so easy to get on the rim, but so far I haven't had any issues with them.
Thanks again for the video, and keep the spirit.

    6. Thanks for the subtitles. That music got way to loud. I hope in future video's, you can keep the music to a decent level. Or not have it. Your video's don't need music.

    7. Awesome! At least the testament was nice an dry. Those hills to the south look daunting. I guess we'll find out in the next couple of episodes how you and Trinny fared along the narrowing part of the Rhine valley. Keep on rolling!

    8. I rather liked Tim’s River Ride in the Rain … especially the drop in the center of the lens … classic 😅

    9. No worries about the tough video conditions. I definitely enjoy seeing what you are seeing as opposed to watching you talk. No offense intended but getting to experience some of what you are seeing is what i like. I think you have a pretty even amount of each. I hope your weather gets better for the ride. Nothing worse than spending days riding in the rain.

    10. Y'know, a 10 hour track of bicycle wheels on wet tarmac (with soft piano and rain background) would see me into a nice deep slumber. Peaceful.

    11. Hiya Tim: Had the same experience with Tannus tires on my Scorpion last year: initially great being able to willingly ride over broken glass, etc. , but then got that nagging feeling of not being able to freewheel very far so I decided that the rolling resistance was too high and undertook the rather onerous task of removing them in one piece then replacing the original Schwalbe Marathons. No objective data, but it certainly feels like I can coast further and faster(similarly to the road bikes always passing me!)
