[Music] hi I’m Jennifer welcome to salv salento and this is going to be the first episode of Spotlight salento which I had a few months ago a an intro video on it and what I was planning on doing and I thought that it would be so appropriate that the first place that we came when we arrived in Italy the first place we ate for dinner was here so ever since that first night that we came here we’ve been coming back for all of you know pretty much holidays um birthdays anniversaries when family comes into town we always love to come here um because it’s we’re like family they’re like family to us they’ve ex you know whenever we come in everyone is just so wonderful and amazing and the staff has actually been here a lot of the staff has been here for a very long time so we’ve gotten the chance to get to know them also and it’s just such a wonderful amazing place besides having you know excellent food and uh you know beautiful atmosphere so it’s just really the whole package and uh I thought that it would be really nice to be able to share this with you share this with everyone the uh viewers on the channel okay so I’ll just take you on a little tour here’s the bar beautiful bar they’re always coming in we always get a cocktail when we first come in while we’re waiting for our party so I wanted to take you out into the garden before it gets busy because we’re here just a little bit early before they start seeing people at the tables and I’ll give you a little just a little glimpse of what it’s like out here but I’m going to show you when the sun sets how beautiful this is so they have all light strung up out here in the garden and I’m here with Luigi who is the owner of lanera and ever since we came so I don’t know if you remember Luigi when we first arrived here in Italy this was the first place that we came this was the first restaurant we came to and we were I mean strangers we didn’t speak any of the language at all except from what I we already knew right which was not anything when I figured out when we arrived I didn’t know any Italian at all but um as soon as we came here for our first night it was amazing how we were here and we felt like family the minute that we walked in the door and I really and and I I said to myself you know what this was just such an amazing experience and I wanted to share with everybody on the channel that um the same feeling that you know we get every time that we come back here with our friends and with our family that comes to visit that it it feels like family here and uh if you’re if you’re and if you’re in town you absolutely have to definitely visit lanta [Music] when we first arrived they gave us English menus and I was so thankful for that because we really didn’t speak Italian at all and you know especially when you’re in a a a foreign country and you’re reading the menus there some of the things that they may use to describe things may not be what you’re used to that word being in you know in in that language it may be Regional and so having those English menus were great but now we don’t want to use the English menus we would rather try to you know read it in Italian and and now we can pretty much get through the menu so if you can believe this is the menu every time we come I say please we need like 20 minutes to see what we want I mean there’s so many things they have anti pasy they have pasta dishes they have steaks meat Burgers little fried things that we love to have salads red pizzas white pizzas they have sandwiches special pizzas and another thing that they have is they have different crust options for the pizza so if you have glutenfree or if you want to do maybe a whole grain or one that’s um they have one made with rice they uh have a lot of options for people that have maybe some dietary restrictions so on the back of the menu they have the wine and beer selections they have bottled wine they have house wine they have art Artisan beers which we love um sometimes we have a little bit too too much of that but um they have so much to choose from so every time we come we really like to try something different we are upstairs in the restaurant and and you can see that this whole building has been beautifully renovated and this area usually has a lot of tables in it but because it’s the summer and it’s warm they’re moving all of these tables outside to the Garden during the winter when it’s really cold outside and it’s not too cold but when it’s cold and a little rainy we uh we love to come here and stay upstairs and uh it actually gets so hot that they have to tilt this window a little bit to let some of the heat out but it’s nice and cozy and it’s it’s a great place to come you can spend have a wonderful evening have a nice dinner and just relax and spend time with friends and family sometimes we have a a table with maybe it could be 15 20 people at it and if everyone orders a pizza you can imagine that how do they make so many pizzas at once and they’re able to bring all of them out almost at the same time and they make them so quick the oven is so hot that they pretty much bring out the pizzas like everyone’s eating at the same time you might wait a minute or two but they bring them out so quick and it’s just it’s just amazing how they do it they have a really great staff here you can see into the kitchen there they’re doing all the prep work and they’re working really hard it’s going to be busy tonight and they’re just getting everything ready so they’re ready whenever everybody shows up then everyone can get food and pizzas in the beautiful Pizza Oven can see that background this is one of the dining areas of the restaurant you can see these beautiful doors that they have these old doors and they put lights behind them and it’s so pretty so at night when it’s a little bit darker in here you can see these beautiful doors glowing and I mean if you can notice all of the tables that are in here and a lot of them are set for a lot sometimes we have a huge table it’s like 20 people at it and it’s amazing how they can serve all of us at the same time but they’re such a great staff here and they’re really on top of the tables and besides that there everyone here has been so nice like every time we come we feel like family okay Luigi I have one question that everyone wants to know the answer to yeah with all of the pizza here how do you stay so fit ah I tried to to take it there the more protein of the pizza that we do now special yes all different crust of different and we we try to to put like some prute or some frin okay and but you know I I take Pizza once or twice a week no okay so that’s the secret that’s the secret to staying fit Pizza only once or twice a week no that doesn’t happen a very nice and big pizza whenever we come we say tonight is the night that we’re on cheat night because we want to have pizza when we come so I just found out from Luigi that they have 30 tables inside and 30 tables outside but once the summer comes and it’s really warm out they’re going to move all of the tables outside to the Garden so now they have half and half because it still gets a little cool at night and some people might not want to sit outside but we are sitting outside tonight because because we love it if we can sit outside every time that we come except for the winter so I’m out here in the garden of Lanta and behind me is a beautiful gazebo with lighten it and we’re actually underneath I’m going to give you a little shot underneath a big beautiful walnut tree so the entire Garden is filled with fruit trees and in the summer the fruit comes out on them because these are blooming all year round you know they produce fruit all year round so these trees will have fruit on them in a few months and while we’re sitting having dinner enjoying our friends and family will’ll be able to enjoy these beautiful trees and the walnuts so now you can you can’t really see right now but on this tree in a few months it’ll be full of walnuts and then what they do is they’ll pick them and let them dry they told us the story that um they’ll let them dry for a little while they have to sit out for a few months to dry and then they’ll be ready to eat but isn’t this amazing I I said I never saw a walnut tree but really really so beautiful and it’s such a big beautiful tremendous tree if I could try to zoom out a little bit to show you just how beautiful this is It’s just amazing okay Fabrizio yes what is your favorite part about being here at Lanta working at Lanta oh I I don’t know uh maybe to meet uh many people every night maybe to make sure they get what they want and when they want that’s you know what and we we have to tell you fabito you’re are our favorite waiter oh oh always now I’m getting red no no no don’t get red thank you so much we always appreciate when we come here everything you do for us you make us feel so welcome and so at home so we appreciate thank
