Have you ever wondered how a bicycle goes from an idea to something you can buy in your local bike shop? Itโ€™s a fascinating process & it’s not often you can follow it from beginning to end all in one place, but with help from our friends at Ridley Bikes that’s exactly what Manon is going to do!

    1. Bought an Eddy Merckx Sallanches 64 from a friend's LBS in Portugal and then I brought it with me to Canada.
Frame had 3 hairline cracks a year or two later. Contacted Eddy Merckx Bikes who acknowledged the cracks and asked for the frame to be returned through the LBS where I bought it from. So, another trip back to Portugal and the news came that Ridley bought Eddy Merckx Bikes.
Frame was stripped at the LBS and EM never responded again!
The "Lifetime Warranty" sticker is still on the frame but I guess it has little to no meaning to the new shareholders. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

    2. 17 minutes video and not a single picture from the real "bike building process", which occurs in Asia. How disrespectful for your frame suppliers and the Chinese (or Taรฏwanese?) that work for them. Finishing the product is just 1% of the process and does not account for the reliability of the bike, which is its carbon construction. This is not a Factory, this is an make up and assembly store like there are plenty in Europe. Which is ok, but just be honest about it.

    3. Bike designed earlier by factory !
Outsourced to be Built or produced in Taiwan!

      Manon:
      Customise paint job
      Specify bike components

      Did not design the bike!

    4. Very interesting but how stunning that the people are sanding without any PPEโ€™sโ€ฆ! They blow away the dust and have no protection at all! Definetely a lot lot to improve for rhe workers at Ridley! If they work like this every day they and up with very bad lung deseases.

    5. I still have one of their 2011 X-Fire CX bikesโ€ฆ..Iโ€™ve repurposed it for gravel riding with a SRAM 1X drivetrain but kept the Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels because theyโ€™re fast and obnoxiously loud, slapped some Donnelly 32c tires on her for traction. Switched out the hardware to red anodized titanium bolts then attached som LOOK track pedals. I kept the Avid Shorty Ultimate cantiโ€™s because they work well. This bike absolutely refuses to die and takes whatever I throw at it. A true representation and fine testament of Ridleyโ€™s commitment to the production of a fine machine. Great video, love listening to you.

    6. Nice to see custom paint and parts assembly but It would have been great to see the actual frame layup and manufacturing process either in-house or at the contract manufacturer in Taiwan. There are some pretty big differences in manufacturing processes that are good to know when choosing a new carbon bike. What distinguishes Ridley from anybody else? — That's the question I want answered.

    7. What bs they didnโ€™t let you keep โ€œyourโ€ bike A free 20 minute Ridley commercial viewed by a half a million people and one canโ€™t slip out the back for Manon? Sheesh.
